- Today we take Armax back to my university in Korea to meet some Korean university students and learn to have a night out like a Korean!
But first we make them work for it by signing them up to be in the Korea Uni cheerleading team for the day!!
Big thanks to KU cheerleading team for helping us film this episode.

Very inspiring character arc! 😅

Sometimes I forgot that they're not in highschool anymore 😭😂
Armand being French probably was drinking since he was 12
One of top 10 Best Arc ever
omg the way everyone put their hand out when max poured his own drink 😭 all in sync too, crazyyy how engrained the rules are

Funny enough, my fiancée and I are planning the same! We started watching this channel a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it so much that we've started planning for our honeymoon to be in Korea as well. If you don't mind me asking, if you had to pick one thing that you did while you were there to recommend to other travelers, what would it be?
@evanerickson194 Wow that is amazing! You guys will have an amazing time! We definitely recommend a tour of the DMZ, and also any of the Hanok or folk villages within the cities where they have kept the old style buildings and rooves - they are amazing. And the FOOD! Try it all!

Max speedrunning every Korean drinking faux pas is peak content--literally *everyone* reaching out to stop him when he poured for himself sent me for a good few minutes 🤣🤣
To tell you the truth, it was not a gesture to stop Max from drinking. In Korea, if someone in the group raises a glass to drink alone, everyone around the person reaches out their hands as a gesture to show that the person is not drinking alone. It's a tradition when they drink together in Korea.
Koreans never let anyone drink alone. 😃
Max is a certified British. 🎉🎉🎉
@@zelium What did the one young lady mean when she said "she was going to be single for three years" when Max was making mistakes to the drinking culture? Is it like "don't walk under a ladder", or "7 years of bad luck if you break glass" if you do not drink with the right etiquette?
@@Gamesquad8889 Your guess was right. Koreans have a myth that the person who drinks alone (at the party) gets cursed not to have boy/girlfriend for the next 3 years. It seems like the rule might have changed a bit because the lady next to Max got cursed. 😀
One more interesting to mention is that at the game Amand chose, one lady failed, however, 2 gentlemen next to her drank on behalf of her. We call that 'black knight' and it is a kind of courtesy of guys drinking for a lady. 😄
@@Gamesquad8889In Korea, there is a joke-like myth that if you pour or drink alone, the person next to you or the person opposite you will have no luck in dating for years.

They touch your glass for you so that you wouldnt be pouring for yourself by yourself hehe
I wonder in that situation, how should Max have gotten his glass refilled?
@@nickraoyj Usually, the person next to you fill the glass so that it is not empty. But if they forgot to refill the glass, it's common to say "My glass is empty."
Why did the girl beside max, said that she will be single for 3 years?
@@christiangerardd.chumacera6700 In korean uni life, there's a sort of superstition that when somebody pours themselves, a person sitting next to them are cursed for being a solo for 3 years (I don't know why it is 3years tho). I think it just became a thing for people not to pour by themselves and have a drink together😂.
Usually I am not a big fan of drinking games or drinking culture. In Germany it is so different. When I was in university I skipped this part tbh. But looking at this community vibe, no one excluded and all the respect they give to each other - I wouldn't mind to try that. ❤

This trip is definitely different than the last one. I am sure Armand and Max have gained so much experience on this trip because it was organized in such a way that they can't back off from anywhere and sit quietly or something, they will have to communicate and engage themselves in the activities. It is such a life experience for them. We wish them a bright future where they will experience more and advance in life.
Definitely! This trip I feel gave them an opportunity to get in there with Korean culture. It's just amazing how the Korean Englishman team can give all these experiences to so many people and still keep it fun because of how charismatic the people they bring are, be it Max and Armand or all the others they've gotten on the channel. It'll definitely be sad when this series ends.
@@swuisssss Yeah so true. I feel like anyone who wants to learn is able to get opportunities like these will definitely prosper in life. They will become more street-smart.

@@soumilidebnath7881 I agree doing the typical touristy thing doesn't really teach you about their culture being thrown in the deep end is the best way for most people to learn I would have jumped on something like this when I was younger if I had the opportunity so if you ever get the opportunity you should definitely go and do it

The Yonsei Chicken dance had me rolling! Max and Armand's jock energy has gone through the roof during this trip, lol. I can't believe how many rules there are for drinking in Korea, I'd be so lost and confused before adding alcohol to the mix. Max's "I've got friends!" was just the cutest thing ever. I can't imagine him going anywhere and NOT making friends along the way. I'm incredibly proud of both guys for as quickly as they're picking up the language.
Tbh once you get through the initial stages its not too bad. Also these rules are mostly upheld at the start. Once everyone gets pretty smashed you essentially just pour drinks for everyone else and drink when someone drinks. Its a lot of fun.

so, despite all my time watching dramas and learning Korean culture, I never understood that "don't drink alone" extended to drinking from your own cup while with others. (I knew it was not a couth thing to go to a bar by oneself or to pour your own drink) Now I understand why in dramas they make it a big deal to show someone downing their own shot in a group setting by themselves. Without words, it shows someone's desperation or isolation. Even after all these years, I'm still learning something new.

Wow! The adventures of Max and Armand in South Korea just keep getting better and better. They are having such a beautiful time and Josh and Ollie have been the most thoughtful hosts. This is such warm content and we are enjoying being on this adventure with them through all of this fun content. Max and Armand need to be a regular series for your channel! OH..
10:38 Max: I've got friends! 😂
Love seeing the huge crowds at the university. A lot of channels I watch with people from other countries always say their sports teams don’t yield huge crowds and school spirit and support. This school definitely does!!!
12:00 all the hands appearing sent me, and also warmed my heart lmao
다들 웃고 즐기는거 보니까 내가 다 기분이 좋당.....
Yep, the first night out with my korean cousins' friends I was hammered. Played games, puked, went to play baseball, climbed the steps with fried chicken and beer, karaoke, ate some bbq clams, and went home completely exhausted and had the most fun of my life hahah.
Sounds about right 👍 cheers
pretty accurate
Josh saying "Where did he learn this he did not learn it from me" is just such a cute Parent line...
I just find myself smiling through these whole videos, like my face hurts in such a good way and I love it. Wish this series would go on and on. ❤
