I am in love with Tom's voice. He has a very unique and beautiful voice. He sings the song with such great feeling it makes you almost cry. I LOVE the Keane version. They did a very good job with this one :)
GYBR is one of my favorites of all time, but this version does tremendous justice to it. Chapin's vocals are understated in contrast with Elton's emotion but it works just as well in expressing the frustration with the bullshit, almost like resignation instead of rebellion. I really like this.
Keane's version is much more mellow than Elton John's... Do we really have to choose...? Neeeeeejjjj, we don't;) I love both versions, but I ám in love with Chaplin's voice, can't help that, haha. ('Neeeeeejjjj' is Dutch for 'I don't think so';-))
I rarely like covers but this ain't bad. It's a bit too laid back for me. Elton John gives it a bit more oomph - if you know what I mean. Nice voice though.
I love the melody at the beginning and the end. You can see a person walking up to you and then walking away. I love how the extra portion of music allows for the image of a person walking and telling this story (or giving advice as I would interpret it). I do enjoy this version as well.

I've noticed Tom tends to sing cover songs very gently, I wonder if perhaps he tends to be a bit too reverent of the originals and afraid to really let his own voice shine on them? But it could be as you said he just wants to bring a different emotion to the songs.

I kinda miss the string section, but besides that, this version is downright beautiful! A little softer on the edges, but gorgeous!

same here. i figured Elton was too golden to even try and cover it but this was pretty nice, smooth and just overall a beautifully executed cover.
