In his early days, Cal worked with Paul Horn, Lonnie Hewitt and Willie Bobo often. The West Coast was his stomping grounds. Later he worked often with the Palmieri Brothers and the King of Mambo, Tito Puente. Cal brought the Afro-Caribbean genre into the jazz mainstream.

Cornelius Carr unhuh, also he worked with Dave Brubeck and recorded( I have it) Avery long piece “At A Perfume Counter”, a really beautiful work. It is one side of an LP.

Another pretender whanna be Cornelius, it was not Cal who brought Afro Caribbean genre into Jazz, dummy, It was Dizzie Gillespie when he brought Cuban Chano Pozo '' Best Conga Drummer into his band on the recommendation of Mario Bauza, into his band first time ever a Conga drummer played in any American Jazz Band, Chano Pozo also played w Charlie Parker. Eat that Cornelius""". Also Cal took Mongo and Willie Bobo from the band of Tito Puente, to San Francisco to played w him. Free lesson.

Gorgeously mysterious sound. Cal blends those vibraphones in Latin rhythm like he's mixing mystery stew. Thanks brownsmiley1. Kudos to you.

I always thought Cal was Santana before Santana was Santana so you may say actually he enabled Santana to be Santana.
I am deeply grateful for this knowledge and these vids. Best wishes and many thanks
