Hello and thanks for your reaction! Soda Stereo (Argentina)is considered the best latin rock band of all time. The mastermind of it all is Gustavo Cerati (1959-2014) lead singer and guitarrist, who is a considered a musical genius. So much so that when he passed in 2014 his native country of Argentina declared 2 days of mourning for the country. Vocals, guitar, and lyrics, Cerati had it all. It would be great to see more Soda reactions, and i would highly recommend the 2007 show called "Gira Me Veras Volver." Great songs from this tour are "La ciudad de la furia," "signos" "profugo" "persiana americana" and so many other songs to list. Thanks again!!!
Thanks The NJ! Excellent react! I suscribed! Soda Stereo was created in the early '80s, thanks to a recital given by The Police in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was then that Gustavo Cerati (voice and guitar) and Zeta Bosio (bass and backing vocals) decided to form the band and found Charly Alberti (drums) in Gustavo's sister's boyfriend. At first they played in bars and discos but they immediately win the respect of other pop artists with whom they shared stages. Federico Moura (voice and leader of VIRUS) was the producer of their first album, with a sound between AfterPunk, Ska, Reggae. With guests presented by Moura, he even told them “guys this album is missing a ballad and asked Daniel Melero (voice of Los Encargados) if he could give up his song “Trátame Suavemente”. As soon as the album came out in '84, "Trátame Suavemente" was a success along with "Sobredosis de TV". His career constantly evolves from album to album, but for his second album “Nada Personal” (1985) there was becomes a New Wave. For his third album "Signos" (1986) the change was evolving, between a U2 sound and The Cure. The production machinery around the Band had already started to work, they were invited from Chile to play in Viña del Mar, and the success was spectacular as soon as they stepped on Chilean soil, and the Sodamania had been created and gestated from the beginning, their looks, hairstyles, makeup, videos, sets attracted attention. And that's how they reached the USA with their third album. The company made them record some songs in English and the video for “Cuando Pase el Temblor” was in the Top 5 of the 12 World Film, Television and Video Review of 1986. In that 1986 Soda gives shows in Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica and arrives in the USA where they hold a press conference but do not do live shows. Later in 1988, by the hand of Carlos Alomar as producer, the sound was consolidated in the album “Doble Vida”. There if they open their tour in the USA in the city of NYC playing at The Tunnel. After an extensive tour, they were already bored by the New Wave sound and by 1990 they recorded “Canción Animal” a totally different sound, more rock. This album takes them from the USA where they give three shows to Spain where they give 6 shows and England. Hi bro, SODA was a great band, the most popular in Latin American rock / pop. They started in 1984 and that recital is the last concert, the last song since they were separated. 10 years later they made a comeback tour with more than 1.8 million tickets throughout the American continent. They were from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
That was the last song of their last concert back in 1997. They got back together for a 10 year reunion tour in 2007. Listen to more songs of Soda they are one of the best rock bands ever. Will sub for more Soda.
