I've been to Japan a couple of years ago. It's a beatiful country! And the fact that ALMOST NO ONE talks on the phone on public transport is truly amazing!
Japanese trains are fantastic! I love all trains, both new and old, but the Shinkansen is just special. Considering the poor state of trains in my country, I am in awe of yours, and feel a bit envious too. 😊
Watching the connection with Hayabusa reminds me of the 4 hr ride I did from Shin Hakodate-Hokuto back to Tokyo at the end of my holiday. It was such a wonderful experience, very comfortable and a lot less stressful than a flight would have been
I'd be afraid of the food spoiling if I didn't eat the bento box soon. I don't know how people can go several hours before eating one. Those houses by the train crossing are perfect for train lovers
Hello Itsuka-san!💚 If I ever get to visit Japan, it will have to be a very long visit because I could spend a week just riding trains!🚄 Thanks for the video!
Japan really nailed train travel. I have never been in Japan, but all videos prove it: these Shinkansen trains are especially luxurious, they bring back the premium feeling train travel once had. Here in The Netherlands, trains are frequent, but they are the most expensive train network in the world when compared to average wage, and trains and stations are not nearly as clean and spacious as these Japanese trains. Seriously impressive. And by the way, the unmanned store would be vandalized in no time here in The Netherlands, and everywhere else in Europe too. Cameras or not, give it two weeks and everything is gone. Doing this in Japan is just not something people think about. Also impressive.
@5:24 - the backward travel , is it between Akita and Omagari ? At least that is what I can make out from Google Maps and Wikipedia - there is no mention of Odate - which appears to be a station further north and there is no Shinkansen there. Can you clear this up ?
I was riding the Komachi last Sunday during my trip through Japan. Riding backwards in a Shinkansen was quite funny. And I have to say I love the colour and form of the Komachi
For those wondering, the name mini-Shinkansen comes from the fact that these trains are narrower than other Shinkansen. Since these run on lines and through stations that were designed for the narrow gauge railroads common in Japan, a standard Shinkansen would be to wide and not fit in with existing infrastructure on such a line. Once it reaches Morioka and is connected with the Hayabusa, the mini-Shinkansen will extend steps when being in a statin to ensure that passengers have no trouble with the gap that would otherwise exists between the train and platform.
This is not actually correct. If you look it up, the mini-shinkansen are made by converting the narrow gauge to standard gauge like the rest of the shinkansen. The mini term may refer to the fact that converted lines are limited to a range of lower speeds, because of the original narrow gauge route.
@@RatioComputers-wz9tu both of you are correct. The rolling stock used on the Akita Shinkansen are indeed narrower - hence you will notice a 2x2 seating - as against a 3x2 seating. This is because they indeed travel alongside narrow gauge railway. But you are correct - they themselves travel on standard gauge - that was converted from original narrow gauge
The term "gauge" is imprecise. The _track gauge_, or distance between wheels, has been extended to standard gauge from the conventional Japanese narrow gauge. The _loading gauge_, or maximum height and width of the cars is still limited to less than the standard Shinkansen loading gauge. Standard Shinkansen loading gauge is, at maximum points, 3400 mm wide and 4500 mm tall, versus standard Japanese conventional loading gauge at 3000 mm wide and 4100 mm tall.
Great trip. Looks like Komachi when in Akita or all of these place in this video (except Morioka Station and Tokyo Station) running on same track with Conventional Train which is Narrow Gauge Track.
I didn't used to be able to drive backwards either. But that has now improved or even changed completely. But of course I also prefer to drive forwards. The bento box looked really appetising.
I appreciate you blurring peoples faces out. I get real icky watching videos like this where the video uploader doesn't blur out unsuspecting people's faces. Thank you.
Been on this train. Everything is so quick. Compared to Switzerland there they have also 30% on a 1m gauge but their country is too small for more than 200km/h. But their trains are open with the most popular payment being an app that covers all public transport.
Can the cashless payment machines be used with Suica? If so then I'm good 😁 (my carditcard is not really meant for small payments due to provisions on overseas payments. Besides, paying by creditcard is weird to me in the first place, because I'm from Europe)
At the start screen, you can see a green banner on top, that appears to be the language selection, offering English as an option and I assume also Chinese and Korean, but it was too out of focus to make out the other languages.
Under Japanese law, when crossing a railroad crossing, cars must stop. The reasons are as follows Checking for traffic jams: This reduces the risk of being stuck in a railroad crossing. Checking for approaching trains: Even if the barriers or warning signals fail, you can check with your eyes and ears. Raising safety awareness: By stopping, you can be aware of the dangers of railroad crossings.
Great video! I have a question if you please - where do nose cowlings go when the two engines connect? If you get the change could you please video that part of the connection process? Thank you very much for taking my question. 😊
Watching this video, the story is true that the Japanese have to stop at open level crossings and look left and right before passing because many cars have been hit by trains due to the malfunctioning of their systems!
Should have visited Ōkama Station during the winter. At that station, you can see eastbound _Komachi_ trains stop in a special area, where the trains are sprayed with warm water to remove the snow and ice buildup traveling from Akita before it reaches Morioka.
Watching trains always brings aesthetic pleasure. Trains in Japan are wonderful.
Thank you 😆 Akita Shinkansen is very beautiful in color and fits very well in the Japanese landscape!

What a beautiful country. Trains always run late in Britain, or cancelled. Love Japan very much

Great video! Thank you. Greetings from the Czech Republic. Akita Shinkansen might be the best looking train for me!😊
Japanese trains are fantastic! I love all trains, both new and old, but the Shinkansen is just special. Considering the poor state of trains in my country, I am in awe of yours, and feel a bit envious too. 😊

So very clean, much better than amarika, where there are alots of zombies
What a wonderful trip. Thank you for taking me along. 😊
😊 Traveling in Shinkansen in so nice. Japan 🇯🇵 Train are the Best 🍒🍒🍒
I really enjoyed taking this trip with you from Akita to Tokyo. Thank you for sharing it with us

H5 has to be the most beautiful bullet train I have ever seen, and this is coming from a guy who loves steam engines.
A train in Japan arrived late??? Wow!

Super video! Thanks! Tamás from Hungary

This was very relaxing to watch and Japan as usual, seems close to perfect.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The train obviously slows significantly for the crossing 👍

Seeing the Shinkansen on the same rail line as the slow speed train... Wow. That's kind of wild. Perfect timing

Far too much packing materials used in disposable food wrapping. Nice train though.
whats your device for recording ?
Akita Shinkansen at Tazawako line section.
I've got "Densha De Go! Professional" nightmare here after got 3-5 second late for each station.
"Densha De Go!" is doing something very interesting lol.
Did the Shinkansen crash into anything else at that train-crossing yet?
