A total classic. I vividly remember this growing up in England. I was 12 when this came out, which makes me 50 today. I feel about 40 but the numbers never lie.
Lyrics - Walking in the Air - Song by Howard Blake - - - - - We're walking in the air - We're floating in the moonlit sky - The people far below are sleeping as we fly - I'm holding very tight - I'm riding in the midnight blue - I'm finding I can fly so high above with you - Far across the world - The villages go by like dreams - The rivers and the hills - The forests and the streams - Children gaze open mouth - Taken by surprise - Nobody down below believes their eyes - We're surfing in the air - We're swimming in the frozen sky - We're drifting over icy - Mountains floating by - Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep - Arousing of a mighty monster from its sleep - We're walking in the air - We're dancing in the midnight sky - And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly - - - - Songwriters: Howard David Blake - Available on - iHeartRadio - Spotify - RUclips Music - Artist: Howard Blake - Album: The Snowman - Released: 1983 - Genres: Children's music, Pop - Other recordings of this song - Walking In The Air - André Rieu · 2012 - Walking In the Air - Aled Jones · 1985 - Walking in the Air - Celtic Woman · 2011 -
So, do they cut out each frame and just stick it to the celluloid? They can't draw directly on the celluloid and keep the same texture as the background
You *can* draw directly onto animation cels using wax pencils which came in different colours - *not* wax crayons. The cels were probably "frosted" so they can take the wax pencil, which is traced from the original animation drawing which is on paper. These are then painted on the reverse using opaque paint and it's these that were shot under the camera on top of the painted backgrounds.
@@submoto - Pretty much the same technique used by Disney and earlier, apart from the shading on cel - the wax pencil shading changes from frame to frame so it "boils" against the background artwork which is static. Wax pencil shading is easier to control than airbrush or other ways of adding texture on a cel since it can be animated, up to a certain point, but it will never be the same from one frame to the next.
@@raviswami9852 I love that boiling effect. I will definitely try to get my hands on frosted cells and wax pencils. I am also trying watercolor, but that seems more difficult
@@submoto - Good luck with the frosted cel - it's quite hard to get hold of it now though some suppliers may have unsold stock or studios that used to use it - I used it back in the day on various jobs. Richard Williams, who directed the animation on "Roger Rabbit" used it frequently, often animating straight onto it instead of on paper first, using wax pencils eg "Koh-I-Noor" brand. Watercolor is very difficult, not to say impossible, to use on acetate cels because it doesn't adhere to the surface - you could try acrylics but it's a different look - generally to "fix" paint to cel if it isn't proper animation cel paint they would add something like household emulsion or PVA adhesive, but it may crack off over time.
Как красиво🙏 Случайно увидела мультик, так понравился, очень душевный, спасибо автору за такую сказку. Очень люблю зимние сказки

Looking back to a lost England.
Little did I know when I was in London back at end of 1986. I've got to find the photos and any other souvenirs from that trip...
It reminds me of Columbia TriStar Home Video of 1993.
How so John?
23:28 That sound like Peter Maddocks End!
