They’re not just competitive, these ppl are THE PROS in the FGC community, mainly street fighter. And kazunoko is wildly known for his mean streak in almost all fighting games imcluding anime or obscure ones. So korone was blessed
I love everyone in Hololive but my holy trinity of Oshiis is Miko,Korone,Marine 1st 2 introduced me and kept me in the rabbit hole and Marine I have alot of respect for her grind and communication she's one of the best talkers in Hololive

@@kabob21 She's a newbie. She played quite a bit of SF5 but mostly just get to know and prepared for SF6. She is good at learning and do command inputs but was not gasping the basics yet. But after getting to play actual matches in 6 and learning in just a short period, you can see that Korone is a natural gamer and I can confidently say that she's not a fighting game newbie anymore. Just need confidence!
While everyone was serious for the tournament we got Korone here being serious while looking like she’s playing around, Hololive Comedian sure is on another level.

Korone is like Suisei: A natural born gamer. She has excellent hand-eye coordination trained over years of playing classic Famicom games, known for their difficulty, and she has played some of the most difficult games out there, like Battletoads. It takes her little time to adapt to games that require you have good hand-eye coordination, like fighting games.

Suisei has that trait but also when she has to do something, she does it full force and as good as possible. When you think about all of the competitions she's participated like the yearly Mario Kart tourney, or StartEnd's Apex runs, she practices A LOT. I remember when they made Startend, Suisei hasn't played Apex that seriously but she was playing better than 99% of Golds during that time. Korone definitely played the heck out of SF5, and a Psycho Power character is just so like her. Super nice to have someone as accomplished as Kazunoko coaching her.

Mind you, that "guard" in Japan means "block" in the English FGC vocabulary. This is important to know because Japan calls the "parry" mechanic as "block". Yeah, it's confusing. Lol.

I think that, as of now, the most confusing FGC terminology in Japanese language is the terms for the spacial height of an attack. In Japanese, the usual attacks (blocked by any stances) are 'upper level' ("joudan", not the "mid level"). 'Mid level' ("chuudan") means the attacks blockable in standing position but unblockable in crouching position. This mix-up comes from an unfortunate coincidence, and even against the intuition of Japanese native speakers. They constantly confuse all the newcomers, but it is too late to be rectified.

Tbf, right before that scene, it was pointed out that Korone does not use standing block stance even when the opponent is attacking from the air. This is because the main anti-air move of JP is crouch-HP, and Korone has practiced it too hard that she just automatically crouch even when anti-air counterattack won't make it. Giving up the anti-air counterattack is not an option. If the anti-air is landed correctly, JP can punish the jumping oppenents quite hard.
Super funny Korone later said it's extra funny when she rewatched the VOd and only then she realizes and hears her coach calling for guards all the time. She's so focused and panicking that she literally can't hear him
It's an interesting experience to hear Japanese (or any language I don't speak) lines that I've heard before with different translations, while not changing the overall message.

Because there will be a tournament on Sunday. And Vtubers seemingly were invited for their popularity in Japan. Think of this as less of a competitive torunament and more as promotion with a casual audience, who is not neccessarily has interest in fighting games.
There is a regularly and privately held e-sports event called CR (Crazy Raccoon) Cup, and this time (June 25th) it is expanded to include SF6. CR Cup is basically a team battle tournament, each team is a mixture of amateur "enjoy" streamers and pro-level legendary gamers.
Coincendently I subscribe to one of them but its not korone although im a hololive fan. Akami also have unique voice which part of the reason i follow her
