Some analysis in simple terms for people who don’t play fighting games: The idea behind K4sen’s “grasshopper” fighting style is that Dee Jay has a unique jumping light kick attack, the one you see a lot in this video with his knee sticking out. This move doesn’t do much damage but is an effective way of closing in on the opponent. Its hurtbox is active for a long time, it does weird things to Dee Jay’s air momentum, and it will always allow Dee Jay to act first if it makes contact with the opponent on the ground, regardless of whether it hits or is blocked. However, Korone does a good job of staying active and constantly fighting back, using a mix of jumps and attacks when K4sen jumps in, making it more difficult for K4sen to land this attack cleanly and maintain offensive pressure. At 5:40, Korone makes a huge comeback by piling on damage from projectiles. As pointed out in the last section of the video, K4sen appears to lack matchup knowledge and doesn’t know that JP has multiple kinds projectiles that have to be blocked in different ways. K4sen is blocking while crouched, which normally is a good way to defend against projectiles without moving backwards, but Korone is specifically using a projectile that can’t be blocked while crouching, which is why K4sen keeps taking damage. That’s not to say that Korone isn’t doing really good work here, she’s perfectly timing the projectile and spike follow-up to force K4sen to stay on the defensive and not allowing him any time to realize his mistake. At 9:03, Korone tries to combo into JP’s Level 3 Super Art but misses. However, the combo she did was actually correct! The reason she missed is because of a very small timing mistake on her part. After Korone lands the big Drive Impact, Dee Jay starts to crumple before she follows up with the combo, and if you look closely, you’ll see that Dee Jay’s knees touch the ground. This is significant because when a character reaches that point in the crumple animation, any hit will immediately render them airborne, which will knock them slightly further up and backwards than normal. As a result, Korone’s combo knocks K4sen just a little too far backwards and the Super Art misses. Broadly, I think it’s really awesome that Korone has been working so hard on Street Fighter, I really admire how clean her inputs are on an arcade stick.
For context: Nanai is a commentator and a Master rank JP that Kazunoko brought on to teach Korone (and he helped her a ton!) and Kazunoko is literally one of the best players in the entire FGC, period (in multiple games too). So it's some of the best players in the world praising Korone's progress (yes, she's still a relative newbie, but the point is she's growing super fast as a player). Also, Karubi's matches were extremely hype to watch as well (I won't spoil the results!), so I suggest you watch them to see the team going crazy there too (and Korone lost her other match, to a Blanka, but mostly cause she didn't know the matchup, but she got some practice and tips from Nanai afterward). Basically, Team KaZOOnoKo ("children of ka zoo", with "zoo" written in English lol and obviously a play on "Kazunoko") is looking pretty damn good all around.

No, Korone actually knows about the Blanca matchup, thats why the day before this Day1 scrim, she specifically asked the coaches to teach her how to counter/defend against Blanca’s rolling attack thingy, cuz thats the part that shes having a hard time with, thats why Nanai trained her prior to this day, they also had Shaka-san to play as Blanca to have a match with her so she can practice parrying Blanca’s rolling attacks. Shes just not used to the timing yet, shell get right consistently soon enough considering her pace in learning.

All of that practice and focused training is really paying off. That last round she got the perfect on was so clean. Korone, at this point, really just needs experience, she needs to play more rounds against more opponents and characters to balance herself and learn how to get out of some combos and situations, and she could be really, really good. I think she'll surprise a lot of people at this tournament.
Reminder to people this is scrims aka practice. For tournaments like these it's fairly known that competitors turn it up to 20 when it comes tournament day
Korone really is a genuinely good fighting game player. She has some amazing coaches but she also has a major skill you can’t really teach; her combos were very consistent even though her nerves are through the roof. That and being able to keep her cool and not panic while adjusting mid-match are such important and impressive skills for a beginner!

But now she's able to play against gold rank when she herself is just bronze.. Meaning that her opponent has played a lot more matches than her.. It's amazing how much she has grown in such a short amount of time! ^_^
Game 2 round 2, He stopped his pressure.... what a big mistake. He waited long range distance, thus giving korone the freedom to do her long range specialty.
oh and I don't understand why the draw didn't count towards her win count... Shouldn't it be 2-1 instead of 1-0 ???? A draw counts as a point for both parties..
If she can be consistent with the zoning, then it's certain that she would win. She still has issues with dealing with pressure, but she's getting good. I hope she sticks with fgs.
She really did schmove all over him in that first bit, with some great teleports in to grabs. She's doing well on zoning and pressure, hoping her coaching shifts to defensive play soon, she does seem to have trouble when people get in.

Also love how you can see chat go absolutely wild when she got the Perfect K.O.
4:41- doggo really did Justin Wong's "YOU GONNA LEARN TODAY"
That's our Precious Dogg for you, no matter the struggles and the trial and errors that she faces, she keeps positive, learns from her mistakes and triumphants in the end. Congratulations Korone! You deserve it. 👏
Im definitely here to watch korones progress into being a SF6 beast
I was just as happy as her for every win she got
Watch out! Couple months later and we are gonna be seeing Korone match with Daigo lmao
Damn I am so proud of Korone-chan!!! She's gotten so good!! I remember when she was fighting her chat in online and she was doing okay (mostly for fun..) But now she's able to play against gold rank when she herself is just bronze..
Meaning that her opponent has played a lot more matches than her.. It's amazing how much she has grown in such a short amount of time! ^_^
Damn from match draw to perfect K.O
Game 2 round 2, He stopped his pressure.... what a big mistake. He waited long range distance, thus giving korone the freedom to do her long range specialty.
oh and I don't understand why the draw didn't count towards her win count...
Shouldn't it be 2-1 instead of 1-0 ???? A draw counts as a point for both parties..
@@ceshmate1953it's 0-0 for the draw
Wow she really has come a long way, hasn't she? Love seeing our punching doggo do so well.
If she can be consistent with the zoning, then it's certain that she would win. She still has issues with dealing with pressure, but she's getting good. I hope she sticks with fgs.
Koro saaaaan 😢❤
It's really fun watching Korone and Botans progress during these scrims
Really entertaining to watch. Thanks for the translation.
Damn, I got chills from 4:40
The mind games
She really did schmove all over him in that first bit, with some great teleports in to grabs. She's doing well on zoning and pressure, hoping her coaching shifts to defensive play soon, she does seem to have trouble when people get in.
really felt off seeing how the stage doesn't match the player's pov
watching on holodex might be a bit confusing
glad to see Korone doing well, hope her confidence gets boosted once the real matches begin
Best doggo! I wanted to hug her after hearing her being so happy after the match!!! THIS! is why we play fighting games people! You won't be a pro right from the beginning! You will struggle and have to practice a lot! But once you start getting your first wins you'll see that everything will be worth it... Because its YOUR win! And you worked hard to get it!!
The Dee Jay was just waiting for Korone's attack. Gotta have perect jump-in timing against JP.
