Truthfully they played like it the second half of the season. Went 42-14 from late July to late September to go from being a game under .500 to a runaway winner of the strong AL East. One of the best second-half runs I have ever seen a team make.

Kansas City and Toronto were the last two MLB franchises who had never made the playoffs in the expanded postseason era that began in 1995. Royals snapped their 29-year drought in 2014 and Blue Jays snapped their 22-year drought in 2015.
