  • The CM Punk & Elite Drama. What in the world is happening with AEW?
The AEW drama continues to get worse. After defeating Jon Moxley to become the new AEW World Champion and MJF making a surprise return, CM Punk made some wild comments at the media scrum press conference. After the press conference, CM Punk headed back to his locker room. The Elite confronted him about the comments he made about them.
They were clearly unhappy about the situation. They got in Punk’s face and they got too close because Punk started swinging multiple punches at Nick Jackson. It’s unclear how threatening they seemed, but it is heavily reported that CM Punk started the physical aspect of the altercation. What makes things even crazier is that CM Punk’s coach/producer, Ace Steele that was featured on AEW Dynamite last week, got involved making matters much worse.
He reportedly threw a chair at Nick Jackson’s face that legitimately knocked him out cold. Steele then pulled Kenny Omega’s hair before biting him as well. The fight had to be broken up by multiple people backstage who say it was extremely physical and brutal. The locker room has been heavily divided because of this.

Honestly, I'm not mad at the elite or Punk. The person I hold specifically responsible for all of this is Tony Khan. It's his responsibility to manage his talent. If there are backstage problems like people leaking false reports, starting physical fights, or people going into business for themselves, it is Tony Khan's responsibility to put a pin in those things. He has shown that he can't control his own company. That is quite embarrassing.

It was their strategy at first, but that comes with a price, especially after paying every single free agent to come to your company, without having a structure or a vision or some set of guidelines, not to mention how much power was given to the wrestlers to decide stuff around, everything bubbled up and now we are seeing the first hick of the barely existent system. Definitely agree that there needs to be key figures between the lockerroom and the promoter. Part of this is speculation, but I believe Cody used to be that guy for aew along with The Elite. With Cody’s exodus, there is a bit of a void and when the dispute in the locker room is between EVPs and Punk, it’s an awkward situation.
Going forward I think TK may rely on Mox or Jericho a bit more given their experience. The Elite could be stripped of their EVP roles depending on how the investigation goes.

Everyone seems to miss the significance of Page's promo. The second he said those words about saving AEW from Punk you could watch the look on Punk's face to know that was going to be a major issue going forward. That wasn't Page messing up the dynamic of who is heel and who was face. That was Page reading Punk the riot act as the official AEW welcoming committee. I can definitely see where Punk is coming from if there's backstage politics and unconfirmed rumors at play but at the same time a lot of that would never happened if Khan had everyone do a sit down prior to signing Punk.

The fact is Tony Khan might have established AEW with a positive intent of bringing another wrestling promotion which will give fans the experience of hardcore wrestling and opportunities to all the wrestlers. But as AEW gained a good fanbase and attention, even since then Tony Khan has been taking things as "Competition to WWE". His perspective has changed and now he feels that WWE is their years-old-rival and they should beat WWE at all cost to make themselves relevant. His only goal now is to defeat WWE in every aspect and to gain global audience by mentioning WWE over and over again and by doing cheap tactics. He feels money can help him to reach the level where WWE is.
Over the years there has been a shift in Tony's perspective from "Building another wrestling promotion and giving the new faces a platform to flourish" to "Defeating WWE at all cost and taking shots at all the things WWE does"

This is what happens when you get all of your wrestling info from Alvarez and Meltzer over at the Observer...
You missed the part where the Bucks and Omega confronted Punk in his locker room immediately after the press junket before he even had a chance to shower or change.
Punk was in the locker room alone with his friend’s wife who was watching his dog. There was also a quote that went something like, “open this fucking door or we’ll break it down.”
Based on that information, it’s pretty understandable why Punk attacked first; he’s alone with a woman and his dog while being verbally assaulted and threatened by three guys.
If the EVPs were mature adults and not middle-schoolers cosplaying as adults, they would’ve talked to Tony after the press scrum, or called Punk on the phone the next day to hash it out.
Nonetheless, Punk had every right to get his side of the story out, because people have been slandering him for months now for absolutely no reason.

It didn't occur to me that Punk was never asked about Colt at all, but after going back and watching another version angle the scrum from the very beginning (since the one AEW streamed was cut off a bit at the start), it almost seemed almost planned on Punk's part. The scrum started off with the first reporter (who was Nick from Wrestling Inc.) stating his name and where he was from and before he could even start his question, Punk cuts him off saying "I'll start, Nick. Show of hands, who here fancies themselves a journalist?" To which, I assume, Nick raises his hand and the discussion was on from there.
    Punk: "You're a journalist, Nick?"
    Nick: "I try my best."
Punk: "Ok... Real quick, you still do improv?"
That improv question is pretty strange to bring up given the time since it seemingly had nothing to do with anything at the scrum, with Punk almost certainly knowing the answer to this question already.
Nick: "No, not in a little bit."
Punk: "No? When you did improv, who'd you do improv with?"
It seemed like Punk knew the answer to this already as well, just as if he was trying to bring up Colt indirectly.
Nick: "I did it with, uh... Scott Colton."
Punk: "Hmmm, ok, so you fancy yourself a journalist, would you say you're friends with Scott Colton?"
Nick: "Uh no, I haven't talked to Scott in some time."
Punk: "So you're not friends with him?"
Nick: "Uh no, Scott and I don't see eye-to-eye."
Punk: "Oh wow. Well that makes two of us."
And it was on from there. Just an absolutely bizarre chain of events here that I'm hoping doesn't damage AEW too much. Extremely dicey situation for sure, but I still can't help but wonder why Punk just seemingly indirectly brought up the topic of Scott Colton out of nowhere, when it could have most certainly been brought up behind closed doors and not out to the public like it is now.

Also doesn't anyone else remember all of the bad rep we were hearing about the Young Bucks? Remember the issues that were coming out with Cody? What about Christopher Daniels? I don't know. I'm seeing a pattern here and it's those 3.

You don't really know the whole story, as none of us do.
I would say that it wasn't JUST that promo. It was a number of issues, including EVPs going out and telling reporters that Colt Cabana (really?!?!) was almost fired BECAUSE of Punk.
It's Adam Page being disrespectful to a business that has generations before him.

    • @primononeya2486
      @primononeya2486 Год назад +1

None of that was ever proven & Bryan Alvarez already denied that anyone leaked any information to him about anything. 🤦 His article was based on his own OPINION from coincidences. He took notice that Colt Cabana was moved to ROH immediately after Punk came to AEW & he made his own opinion based on the fact that they had a lawsuit against each other (public record) & based on Punk's history/reputation of being disliked by the locker room everywhere he goes. The reporter who the EVPs ALLEGEDLY leaked information to is Bryan Alvarez & he clarified what he said in his articles in the Wrestling Observer. He also clarified that his article was based on his own OPINION. Do some research & stop automatically believing something, just cuz Punk CLAIMS it or falsely accuses someone of leaking information. ANYONE can make accusations like he has & point fingers, but it becomes invalid without any evidence to confirm those accusations. Especially when the reporter he's blaming for it already denied that anyone in the company is responsible for his articles & those were written based on his opinions. If Bryan Alvarez is used as a witness/character witness in the pending lawsuit between Punk & The Elite, Punk is gonna lose EVERYTHING. The Elite have a strong case for Slander, defamation of character, & assault. Both sides will be taken off TV until the pending lawsuit is resolved & I doubt they'll ever bring back Punk after this. CM Punk might be banned from wrestling after this is all done & he already burned bridges in every company he's been in so far. AEW was his last shot in the industry & he's a liability. 🤷

I agree and disagree with CM Punk at the same time, but i also agree the most, he's finally going to make AEW stop being All Friends Wrestling, not everyone needs to be friends, and The Elite is all about their own friend circle, and Punk is heading against them head on, also you're forgetting how close Dave Meltzer is to the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, so what he's saying about them spreading shit about him does make sense.
I don't know overall, but i'm with Punk on this, the Elite needs to get removed from the EVP position if it is all true. Like Cornette says, they're all man children playing wrestler with other man children, Tony Khan needs to learn that he has to take full control, even if people paint him as the villain like Vince Mcmahon was for decades, he should stop listening to them and do things himself for real like he says he does.

@@tomv2063 Yeah that's true, but at the same time it was sort of necessary, Punk was painted to be the villain on shit that wasn't true also, like the Colt Cabana stuff, i feel his reaction was appropriate, anyone would have a meltdown under that situation.
It's just sad that people think The Elite is the good and Punk the bad lol both sides did shit wrong but i think the Elite is worse, there were problems before Punk, people blamed it on Cody, he left, the problems remained, who else is the problem?? The so called EVPs.

No one cared that much about Colt Cabana to worry about why he left TV. I was there live for his opening comments in Charleston and no one had a single clue why he called out Page. Regardless of how they tried to spin it, it didn’t make any sense.
