I still don't understand - why is this urgency and fixation to "retire"? It amuses me to see that some people still see "retirement" as this utopia. Work for as long as you can, it keeps us mentally and physically healthy.

Retirement doesn't mean no work. Just do what you always wanted to do even if Income is less. Doing what you always wanted to do at 40 is better then doing that in 60. It's just you don't want to do anything for hikes, high rating and to show off.

Retiring at the age of 40 and settle in India is a decision to be taken carefully. People who are accoustumed to lifestyle in abroad may find it difficult to adjust to lifestyle in India. Also retirement means doing no work or taking up employment in India? If it is no work then it is not advisable. We can never know what is in store for us in future. A serious medical illness whose treatment can cost you a fortune, Your spouse may file a divorce and u might find yourself making monthly maintenance or pay a hefty alimony, Your kids want to pursue an expensive higher study, Somebody files a lawsuit and you have to defend it. Aforementioned points are just some of the issues you may face. Food, shelter, clothing are primary needs. It is not enough. Secondary needs such as Medical, Transportation, Afford legal remedy, Reasonable Luxury stuff are equally imporant.

Fair point Hemant to decide based upon the Date part ..But I would add another option - to start freelancing ..no boss on top of you, and it's ever engaging. Plus good Engineering resources are available at economic rates in India. And mostly NRI's are from Tech field, so they have a big pool of work here to pick from. Plus they have a good exposure & contacts back (from where they came from), that can really help engage & do the Projects. Challenges are ever entertaining & engaging. Like, by being in India itself - am planning to go freelance in 2023 ! All you need good skills & good overall knowledge.

I was born in India but my parents left the country in 1965. I always wanted to return and did so after Indira Gandhi had the Emergency. It was a journey that I regret to this day. You cannot go back to a third world country after living all your life overseas. My friend (also from India) disagreed and built a house in Pondicherry. When he returned he found that family members had occupied the house and refused to move out. I think the case is still ongoing!

My son is in elementary school he got a good amount of time to adjust to the Indian education system. after spending 9 years in the USA life has become routine now. I've started traveling to cover all vacation spots. Next year I would be returning back to India. Another point to consider, is why I've put 10 years benchmark because I would be eligible for SSA benefits once I reach 40 points. If you have any information on availing of SSA benefits while being in India after the retirement age of 59.5, Please make a comment or video on it..

@@Aki8927 yeah its a individual choice. To be honest. Many of my friends who did their studies in Europe dont wana comeback because they never worked in India and they think there no money in Indian and also they have friend circle over there. But i agree with you nothing like India

@@bittun1607 Yes , I am born and brought up in Pune until the age of 28 when I moved to Sweden with my wife. Friends yaha pe bante hai lekin utne close nahi hote woh jitne close friends Indian main already the . Plus family is getting old . Aur jaise Hemant bhai ne bola train nikalne ke baad kuch nahi kar sakte . Money is not everything for me . But that is subjective.

Indian mind set, there is fun in doing nothing and billions of people can just sit around, dance in marriage party, watch cinema everything is hunky dory. Entire country is living retired life anyway.

@M C -everyone is looking forward only to their own marriage function or some others function thinking it will be bollywood style their purpose to earn is this only hence india not a developed country till now else india has everything and of course less population will also help a lot- 1 child policy like china needed here

i don't agree, i burnt my initial years in IT burning midnight oil that doesn't happen in US, now i am into middle management hence life is easier but have worked in US for a short while, work life balance is much more managed at all levels.
