    Briliant review. After trying this in store today, I just bought it. Only now looking at the reviews! ...Its far more practical then my Lopro 450, slightly smaller ... the straps, side pockets, and top section make it a winner for me.

    Thanks Jimmy. I love Gitzo brand. Had no idea they made backpacks! I have an old Gitzo tripod and a mono pod that I bought back in the 70s for my Olympus OM1 & OM2t. They still work great even though they're a bit heavy, but they are built like a tank. Thanks again, keep up the good work.

      Cheers Mike. I too love Gitzo. I have their carbon travel tripods and really great and super sturdy (and tall for what it is). They will last forever for sure!

      @@Red35Photography Honestly, Jimmy, you know almost as well as me these days! It's been a little over a year since I've really been in the city and certainly at least that long since I've done any shooting there. I hop to get back in the next few months once covid calms down and vaccinations are open to everyone.

    Does it hold the150-400 with a E-m1 attached?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад

      yes it does :) But the hood has to be collapsed.

  • @berntlie6799
    @berntlie6799 3 года назад

    Ah -- it holds your future 150-400 lens ;-) .
    I got a "free" Olympus bag when I bought the E-M1.iii, and have used it for the 100-400 lens. A couple of weeks ago, I discovered that the protection filter I added, had cracked. Perhaps I have been careless and bumped the bag down (with lens front downwards).
    Q. Is the Gitzo bag well padded in the bottom?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад +1

      haha yes. I am hinting Olympus to send me that lens! To answer your question, It's very rare to get damages like that in camera bag. I have the Olympus bag too. But I never point the lens 'down'. But the Gitzo is quite thick, because it's transformable, you do get an extra layer in between the inner case and the external bag. The bottom also houses the rain cover, which double the protection further.

    Out of interest, when you say you "acquired" the bag, do you mean you bought it with your own money or it was provided by Gitzo? With regard to the roll top, I've been using the Vanguard one for about a year alongside my Peak Designs (2x) and for serious hiking/camping Lowepro Protactic 450 which is as close to 'industrial' or military standard as I've come across and is 'Mollied' on three sides

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад +1

      Cheers Roy. I am not paid for this review, though I did ask Gitzo for this bag for review. I've been trying to set up a series of videos to showcase, what I think, is interesting and best for photographers and creatives. So far I haven't seen a channel or anyone who has done this. I have finally made progress in a few brands so I will be able to access products to give people more contents to decide what's suitable for them. That includes Gitzo, Manfrotto, Lowepro, Billingham.. etc. I will be adding more so I hope to bring them altogether under one roof. I do test bags like I would use it personally and most of these bags would go back after review and in rare cases, I would purchase them. Hope it makes sense. On a side note, I have paratactic and know exactly what you mean, hence I have many mollie products and agreed with your with military standard. I've used many bags in my life. I have a huge personal collection of Billingham bags and many other tactical camera bags for jobs. This Gitzo does well in combining thin, strong material and functionality that I quite enjoy. The roll top is really, in my case, the best feature if I am to take more than just gear.

    Hi Jimmy, Loved the review of the Gitzo Adventury backpack.
    I wonder if you can do a review on the Lowepro Flipside 500 AW II,. I have one in Mica/Camo color scheme and I must say it is a great backpack that even hold my Delamax 650-1300mm manual telelens besides my 2 Olympus cameras (1 E-420 with 40-150mm 4/3, 14-45mm 4/3, 1 OM-D E-M10 Mk.II with 100-400mm M4/3 (yes it is the new Olympus one) a 4/3 toM4/3 adapter), (miltary) airband radio scanner, spotting scope and a shoulder stative).
    Looking forward to see what you think of this backpack.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад +1

      Cheers Andre! I will have a look at Flipside. I do like Lowepro as I have a couple of their tactical backpacks before. I also have a protactic shoulder bag, pretty cool.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад

      Yes I have, I had some interest in it but the problem is that the 'shell' volume is unchanged and not expandable like Gitzo. Also, they are way more expensive than Gitzo too.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад +1

      It's note rated for a 15in laptop. The 45L version is. The 30L that I am using only fits a smaller laptop.

      @@Red35Photography So Jimmy, the 30 liter one can’t fit a 15 inch one ? I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro so I wonder whether it can fit coz the gitzo website from both HK and Uk website said it can fit. Kind of weird. Have you got a 15 inch MacBook Pro that can fit ?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  3 года назад

      @@ryantang8146 No that I can see from Gitzo's UK website. I have the 16 and 15 inch and I am sure it won't fit. The 45L is listed as 15 inch compatible however so that one should be good.
