What's YOUR favorite cheap eat in London? I'm sure I missed something! Let me know!
There's this place in Chinatown called Jen cafe, they have delicious hand made dumplings that are phenomenal - for me at least :)
Thanks Evan! I'll check it out next time!
As strange as it sounds, I like the pasty chain Upper Crust you see in the major London rail stations. Great choice of pasties and sausage rolls among other stuff.
@@evancortez2 I love dumplings!
My club...
If that's cheap I dread to think what's expensive
Everything (I mean everything) in Zone 1 is not cheap, they are all overpriced and overhyped, but you gotta find a place to eat anyway.
Wow 😄 it's look like yummy...
Hi yellow productions, I've been watching your London videos for a while now and I wanted to take this moment to say that I really enjoy your videos and the effort gone into them. I hope to see more ADs in your videos so that we can support you better! Thank you
+1 recommendation for Cafe in the Crypt, incredible value for a large and delicious meal in the centre of London.
Thanks for the +1!
I'm going to visit London with my kids very soon, and watching your video's on London brings me back lovely memories. :) Last time when I was in London I was feeding on Pret A Manger sandwiches, and the different dishes of Camden Town Market. They were very good, diverse and cheap. I can recommend them for everyone on a budget.
EXCELLENT VIDEO, Chris. Once again, you help me plan my vacation trips, as in L.A., Vegas, etc, this helps so much to plan ahead the so important food experiences. thank you so much and take care!
Thanks Rodrigo!
Really great tips!! So much incredible food, so little time....thanks!!👍🏻
Thanks for sharing. Will try them soon.
Thank you. We just came back from 2 weeks in London and your video was very helpful. We loved Pret A Manger and Eat, we had breakfast at Pret's almost everyday. We also tried Nando's and Laughing Halibut and liked them both.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback!
Love the you are describing the food. Thank you
Thank you for the info! This will come in handy when we go find meals with our 2 teens.
Awesome!!!! Thanks cant wait to try all the food !!!!
LEON is lovely too. Cheap and healthy delicious food and all over London. Adding my recommendation for vapiano’s too. It’s so tasty!

Thanks Sky!
Thanks for the information!! 👍

I'm planning a trip to London and these videos are so helpful! :D
Thanks Lily!
Nice Chris. Will put these tips to good use next week.
Have a great trip Captain!
Mmmmm. Delicious! Great video!
Thanks!
just a mention to any vegetarians, If you go to pret a manger try the cheese and pickle sandwich, it is absolutely divine! they really pack in a load of pickle!! great vid, nice to have such an enthusiastic American in London
Thanks ant wto!
Great video 😀
Just wanted to say. I travelled to London a couple of weeks ago, I was there only one day. But having my lunch at Mothermash and dining at Ippuro where absolute highlights. Thank you so much for those recommendations.
Awesome! Glad to hear it Ivan! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the info!
Pret's prosciutto baquette sandwich is pretty amazing.
Another great London video! Going to try and stop by Mother Mash. Surprised that they have really good Malaysian food there.
Thanks Travel Pockets! Enjoy the meat pies!
NO NOT GREAT BUT PONCY CRAP VIDEO WITH FALSE INCORRECT INFO AS MOST PLACE HAVE UNLAWFULLY WELL OVERPRICED FOOD..
Also great foods down in Waterloo the cut... the food in borough is exceptional.
Pret is posh sandwich ... mark and Spencer’s also really good sandwich’s.. or find a greasy spoon... yosushi is pricey.. a good independent sushi place is about 30 % less. Check kulu kulu in south ken or soho
I am loving your pronunciation of "mushy peas"
mooshy peas haha....
Okay...........you are my Go-To-Guy for this trip I'm planning from Boston to London in April or May 2020. I have never been to Europe, so it will be a bit scary as I will likely be going it alone. I made a Playlist and have been throwing all your London videos to watch for what looks like some awesome info. Thanks!
Right on. Thanks Simon. Enjoy London!
Excellent... thanks
WOW GREAT VIDEO. THANKS.
My pleasure Jennifer!
This video has certainly made me hungry 😋
I have succeeded in my mission! :)
Those noodles from Roti King look really delicious! I actually went to a Yo Sushi during my visit to London back in 2015. For sushi at a low price, it was pretty good. I have never been to Nando's in the UK, but I ate at one in National Harbor, MD here in the U.S. They have some great food. Anyway, these look like some great food options!
The noodles were delicious! And it's the same Nandos! :)
I had Yo sushi with my 9y/o kid. We'd clocked up a £40 bill within half an hour
That's just amazing!
Some of my favs: Wagamama's (Bloomsbury, WC2B 6PA), the Queen Mary (no longer available, it was the original QM ship and was moored at the Strand at Waterloo Bridge. Great Steak and Ale pies!) and the Spaghetti House (Holborn, WC1A 2QD).
It's a great video.👍👍
Thanks Snackman!
McDonalds - Victoria Station is a great place to get a quick bite, when we went there the price was more or less the same as in Crawley (I was obviously impressed) ...we then went on to see one of Tangerine Dream's last concerts...:-) Happy days...
Just got back from London a few days ago and a lot of places I went to eat were expensive compared to the north of England, I think the only places that were regularly priced were the big chain restaurants like McDonald's, Burger King etc. But I must say all the restaurants and pubs I went to had excellent quality food just expect them to be a bit more expensive than you're used to.
wish I had seen this video before my trip to London last month :)
You're armed for your next trip then! :)
Im from London, and when you said 'Bubble and Squeak' I Laughed so much !
Every time I visit London from up north I make sure to visit the food stalls at Camden Market, just north of King's Cross. You can find all sorts of street food from all over the world at a pretty decent price. 👍
Top video. I work about 100 yards from the Laughing Halibut and will try some of the other places on the basis of you having identified this gem.
A couple of other tips:
- Just round the corner from the Halibut is the Regency Cafe - fantastic full English breakfast for about £5. It has featured in more movies than you can count. Most recently Rocketman (it’s the cafe where Elton & Bernie meet for the first time).
- Any Wetherspoons pub
- In Chinatown, Wong Kei is a London institution. The food is among the best in the area, and it is really cheap. The clientele is about 90% Chinese. But people really go for the service. It is famous for being the rudest in the world, and it is hilarious.
- It’s a bit off the beaten track, but if you are anywhere near Vauxhall then Hot Stuff - a curry restaurant on Wilcox Rd - is an essential visit. It is the highest rated London restaurant on Trip Advisor (out of all of them) and you can eat for under £10. Google it for more reviews - I can’t praise it highly enough.
Thanks for the extra cheap eats tips John!
We have a bunch of Pret A Manger in NYC. We have Itsu here too.Its kind of embarrassing to me that Shake Shack is from NYC. But Danny Meyer who created it is from St Louis and modeled it after Ted Drews in St Louis but it is famous for the custard not the burgers. I prefer in and out but we don't have it here. Nandos looks good! Great video as usual!
Thanks Pinky Pinky!
Even cheaper -- and still very good -- food can be found in any supermarket, and close to the entrance for convenience. Ready made sandwiches and other prepared lunches.
Thank you. I'm going to try the Laughing Halibut 😅 It's not what I'd class as cheap, but it is cheap for London and tourists I suppose 😉
Yes.. its cheap for London in the touristy areas
I usually put the chain restaurants down as plan B. As a tourist, I much rather go where the locals are and experience the local culture.
Local culture in London will be anything but English lol
The irony. You'll find crowds of locals in queues down the street at Starbucks, and young mothers with prams around tables in McDonald's. I think one can't beat ethnic in London. OK, and Fish & Chips. :-D
There isn’t any real English people left in London.
Travel just outside central London , and food is cheaper. The Wetherspoons pubs do great food really cheap. Also seek out JRC global buffet. Best one is in Watford.
nice videos
Also Greggs is very convenient and more lile "on the go" kind of food. I believe a coffee + beef/sausage pocket would be less than £4
All brits love Gregg's. It's our number one place for food on the go all day long. And the cafe in the crypt is brilliant
STILL UNLAWFULLY OVER PRICED FOR JUST THAT !!!.
@@peterbuckley265 definitely I live up north and it's a lot cheaper
My favourite has to be Franco Manca, they're a local pizza chain that make the best sourdough Neapolitan style pizza for less than £ 8
Thanks for the tip Alexander!
Hi thanks for your informative videos. Could I request you to also please make a video on Halal cheap foods in London. Thanks a lot.
I went to London in 1974 as a graduation present from my mom and nana, I ate at McDonalds for breakfast, Sausage McMuffin about $1.50 equivalent, and dinner a Burger King, Whopper, a $2.50 equivalent, the two cheapest choices at the time. I bought ate fish and chips for $5 my first day and decided I would go broke if I spent $5 a meal.
AH AH AH
These are 2019 prices in London. As of 2020 that 6 pound sandwich is now 18.50, but it is a pretty good and competitive value given the location in central London
No it's not ahah
When you peeled back that chicken pie with your fork it reminded me of that scene in Alien when that android discected the face hugger ugh!
Hah
I'm going to london in march and never have been their before . Where restaurants would you recommend what is cheap in the london city .
Pret is iconic in England
Great video
Condiments not compliments.
Not long ago, a clinical survey was carried out on pre-packed sandwiches and about a third were found to be contaminated with faecal bacteria. They're packed by hand, often on a sweat-shop basis, and toilet breaks are made in haste. Also, their calorie and salt content are usually through the roof.
A few good ideas there :-)
Neat.
Like that Singapore place .thank u
My pleasure Selina!
Eat in pubs. It'll be an adventure- you might get the best meal you've ever had, or you might get sick, but it'll be cheap, authentic(ish) and unique- as long as you avoid the chain pubs.
One used to dine at a place called The Pot.great food and cheap. Are they still there?
Thank you! Do u have similar guide at where drink coffee... other than starbucks... ☕😃
Hi Tina.... Sorry.. I haven't had enough coffee in London to make that one :)
So now u must. 😀
Grandpa Richard has the same drinking glasses as several of those restaurants LOL
Neat! :)
fish and chips in london is amazing and so cheap considering they are serving seafood.
NO, TOTAL CRAP AND UNTRUE, IT IS WELL OVERPRICED AND IS SELL OVER THE INFLATION LEVEL NOW. PRICES AND WAGES ECT ROSE 5 TIMES TWIXT 1961 AND 1976, BUT SINCE THEN PRICES HAVE FISEN 5 TO 20 TIMES, BUT WAGES ONLY RISING 5 TIMES, WITH A FULL MEAL UNDER £1 IN 1976, SO THE LAWFULL PRICES NOW ARE NO MORE THAN £4 = 5.
That fish and chips looks so sad
Is there a way to can get those foods in Las Vegas?
5:03 that is Cantonese roasted goose 廣東燒鵝, Peiking (Beijing) roasted duck 北京烤鴨 is hanged in the oven not in front of display window.
FYI, you can tell whether it is Cantonese roasted goose or Peiking roasted duck by if there is other roasted food displayed alongside, Cantonese roasted goose is usually sold with other Siu Mei (燒味 AKA Siu Lap 燒臘, all kinds of roasted meat), whereas Peiking roasted duck shops usually don't offer other kinds of roasted products, and they don't display the roasted duck in the front.
The Cantonese roasted goose is way better than Peiking roasted duck.
I gotta try Mother Mash
Enjoy!
Hey, suggest me some good vegetarian food joints in London.
Jump on the tube and head out from the central tourist areas. You'll find loads of great food especially fish n chips for a lot less than £7
Where can i buy the panda you had at the end ?
actually im leaning towards a german vacation , thank you.
Enjoy germany!
So jealous I would love to go to London :)
You can! :)
What's stopping you? I only live 45 mins away ;)
Hurry up before it's completely colonised by immigrants
The cheapest eats in London is rice salads in the supermarket. It can be as low as 0.05 quid.
Roti canai and Mee Goreng ❤
Mmm
Add what to eat cheap in cardiff and barry island?
Not a mention of the bagel bakery on brick lane ?
Arugula my arse, that's rocket! ;)
Tesco Meal Deal £3... sandwich, wrap, pasta, a cold drink, a snack being crisps, fruit or choc... the BEST deal
yaaaaas!! plus the kfc wings with chips haha
I think you're the only person who gets more excited than I about meat pies. I go to the UK for Christmas and about mid-November I start fantasising about all the different meat pies I will soon be in the midst of LOL. Don't forget the supermarket chains that have GREAT delis. Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury. (Chicken and stuffing sandwiches from M&S my recommendation). I don't even do restaurants, usually - just buy sarnies at Tesco and go to my hotel.
Mmm.. meat pies! :)
coven gardens:)
Nice video
As a Malaysian who just moved to London everything on this list is still not that cheap but I get it it's londonXD I was looking for something below 5 or 4 pounds
Same shit for less than £5.00 in Manchester, cheaper rent and rates here though i guess. I had two workman walk out of my cafe because they thought £2.50 was too expensive for a bacon and egg barm/bun, so i pointed them in the direction of a burger van down the road fully knowing that it was over £3.00 for a shitter version
Aha in lewisham apparently 3 wings and chips for £1 is "expensive" bc roadmen are apparently so skint
Being an American, there's absolutely no way I'd eat at any of the American chains mentioned at the end of this. Why eat something you can eat any day at home? Always try new stuff!!
Also, Covent Garden is pronounced "Cuvent" Garden, not with a long O just so you know.
I agree with you that I wouldn't eat at any of the American chains in London either.. but there are many non Americans that visit that haven't eaten at those placea
Yellow Productions Very true.
I think it's worth it because you see how things have been adapted to the local area. At McDonalds in both London and Paris the french fries are excellent. I think they double cook them to make them darker and crispier. In London they make a hot apple pie a la mode by taking an apple pie, topping it with ice cream and one of their sauces, like strawberry or chocolate. They could do this in the U.S. but don't for some reason. In London they have a trifle dessert in addition to the other standard desserts. In Paris there's a McDonalds really close to the Arc de Triomphe and you can sit al fresco on the sidewalk with a great view of the Arc.
Have you ever heard of the Ugly American? Loud, stupid, fat. From now on they're known as Trumpletons. Why would they want to expand their outlook with foreign food?
I had a lamb kebab with chips, salad, a flatbread and coke for 6.50.
Cheap!
None of this is cheap. Under a 5r is cheap.
If you're a tourist on holiday a meal for less than a tenner is something you'd be happy with. There are many more where the starts cost several times as much as this.
£7 is cheap for a proper sized fish and chips.
Peasant
THANK YOU AS I HAVE JUST TOLD THIS PONCY GUY THSAT £10 IS OVERPRICED, SERE MY LETTER ABOVE.
@@maxisussex THEN THOSE CHARGING MORE THAB A FIVER NEED TO BEHIND BARS AS THETY ARE STEALING FROM THE POOR WHO ONLY GET NOT EVEN HALF OF THE CORRECT WAGES TO COVER THE INFLATION OF 45 YEARS WHEN PRICES HAVE RISEN 5 TO 20 TIMES , BUT WAGES ONLY RISEN 5 TIMES !!!.
It depends on what you call cheap
You are the best. I have idea why you don't have 10 million subscribers!!!
Thanks Mauser! ;)
cheapest food cost cost for
INR 29 Whole meal
Here in UK it cost INR 200 for coffee at costa rica
people from london watching and waiting for the cheap food to turn up
Greggs and Wetherspoons.
Brexit explained, right there. Gammon haute cuisine.
ianspleen Gammons don’t have haute cuisine. They have posh nosh.
Can't beat Garfunkels when in London
Prêt à manger is French for ready to be eaten. You have to say it like 'pray' à manger
Thanks for the pronunciation correction and for the translation!
They saw You coming.
Can I ask you a question
I really watched a London food vlog to be told about shake shack, 5 guys and chipotle
Lots of people aren't from the USA and have never seen those chains before.. think somebody visiting from Russia. It'd be all new to them!
Borough is pronounced burah and mushy is how you say it not moooshy! Good vid though mate!
Good job! As a Londoner, got to say you’ve done your research - some interesting suggestions here, especially for the independents.
In China Town, a classic destination is Wong Kei restaurant. It’s famous for abrupt service and shared tables, but don’t let that put you off; you can get some pretty authentic food for low prices.
C&R cafe on Rupert street (near Leicester Square) is a good alternative to Roti King for Singapore/Malaysian food and great Roti Canai. Easier to get a seat too; Roti King always has a queue.
Thanks! And thanks for the tips on Wong Kei and C&R. I'll check those out next time.
albedo0point39 How are you guys doing over there with the encroaching police state and sharia takeover?
I hate shared tables. And for "abrupt" read "rude"
have you been to Liverpool?
