@Alopen-xb1rb First off, let’s address the claim about my SUV. I said my VW Tiguan went 200 miles on $15 of gas, and I didn’t even use half a tank. It’s a smaller SUV with a combined EPA rating of around 24/31 MPG. A full tank of gas would give me 459 miles, based on the manufacturer’s specifications. Gas prices vary by region, so while $3.10 might be the average where you live, that’s not necessarily what I’m paying. Your comparison to a Nissan Versa is irrelevant because these are two completely different classes of vehicles. Comparing a compact car to an SUV makes no sense in this context. Now, let’s revisit the Tesla’s range and charging. I said I drove 288 miles, spent $48, and got home with 20% battery left. Based on Tesla’s efficiency ratings, that 20% would translate to roughly 50 miles of range in ideal conditions. However, real-world driving is rarely ideal. Highway speeds, cold weather, heavy loads, or even terrain can significantly reduce that range. In my case, that 20% wouldn’t last more than 10 miles under those conditions. This isn’t “angry ex-girlfriend math”; it’s simply a fact based on firsthand experience. As for the claim about EV maintenance, yes, I understand the advantages-no oil changes, fewer moving parts, and so on. But let’s not pretend EVs are maintenance-free. Tires wear out faster on EVs due to their additional weight and torque. Battery degradation is inevitable, coolant flushes are required, and repairs to charging systems can be costly. At the end of the day, it’s an expensive, high-tech computer on wheels with its own set of problems. Facts. Finally, your argument that "most people never drive more than 20 miles a day" might be true for some drivers, but not for those of us who rely on our vehicles for long-distance travel. EVs were marketed as a cheaper and more efficient alternative to gas vehicles, but they’ve failed to live up to that promise for many of us. Between charging costs, rising electricity prices, and frequent charges, the savings are simply not there. It’s not just me saying this-it’s been all over the news. Tesla has been in the spotlight for being more expensive to operate than gas vehicles in many cases. Look it up. Yes, I’m frustrated with my Tesla, and I have every reason to be. I purchased it for its advertised range and the supposed affordability of electric power. Instead, I’ve been met with rising costs and frequent inconvenience. I’m not alone in this, and my frustrations are shared by many others. Maybe you’re happy with your EV, and that’s great for you. But let’s stick to the facts instead of dismissing my experience as “angry math.” It’s real, it’s thousands of peoples experience and disappointment, and it’s backed by hard numbers."
Given all the claims about new/improved battery chemistries coming soon that we have heard over the past year or two, the range increase is dissapointing.
I love my Model 3 Highland so it is great to see that they have added these updates along with a slight redesign thanks tothe Cyber Cab. I think it looks really good and improved. It is a shame they have brought back the stalk for the indicator disco for those that feel they needed it. I love my button design and it is more futuristic and actually easier to use whilst keeping 2 hands firmly on the wheel. It would be great if they had both options!
The best just got better. I’ll wait for the a few months, don’t need the launch addition. Brilliant to see they listened and kept the indicator stalk. I’d still prefer the gear lever as well.
Disappointed that there is no Heads-Up Display for driving safety and Tesla should have more options including adaptive air suspension and an even larger battery pack (90-100KWh) especially for RHD markets where the premium Model X and Model S in RHD is no longer available.
How're you doing? I haven't seen it on the streets yet. There's to wait a few to see if it's the model that we are watching at screen. A sincerely greeting from afar.
Makes sense the new more affordable models are coming this year so they are making the Y more premium to differentiate the models. They really need to add air suspension. If they did this they could drop the Model X
I like what they have done with the lights, looks way better than the current Model Y... I hope they have improved the turning circle that's the one thing I want to see
I just wonder how comfortable the seats really are. I'm still driving an old Mercedes and so far I never found a car with seats and comfort as good as my old Benz (with air suspension btw.).
I cannot comprehend why indicating/blinking is not already automatic. If I’m in navigation mode, it should know when to set the indicator. Leaving rare uses for highway lane changes.
I am very disappointed with the lack of changes in batteries. The Chinese and Porsche have it much better with 800V architecture, better charging speeds and curves. Everyone knows that on long journeys we only use 70% of the battery, from 10 to 80%, which means a range of about 200-250 km on the highway, which is a very small result.
New model 3 after owning the older version. I also have a model y - I got used to and prefer the no stalk on the 3. When I get back in our y, it feels unnecessary. In the new 3, I double tap the brake and it goes reverse or forward which I like. Turn signals with a button take a moment to adjust to, but already my thumb goes there automatically and when I drive our Y, it is an adjustment backward to swipe it. All in all, I think removing it or not is fine. Not all feel the same and I get that.
Great content as always. Powered frunk? Up AND down? Yes V2P should be essential, as should steer by wire and 48V architecture on all Tesla's going forward. Still I like the design and improvements. Just hoped for a little more to future proof it. Front self cleaning camera is great. Hope the rear one self cleans or is positioned such that it doesn't need it. Looking forward to your next update!
very glad stalks are back - you are wrong on "getting used to buttons" also wrong on range. I'd give anything for a 400mile range in lieu of 300 and would gladly lug around a bit larger battery for it. 300mile range on the freeway equates to maybe 200 actual miles and thats just not enough.

If they have an indicator stalk then it’s maybe a reflection of negative customer comment on the stalkless Model 3. Does this mean that Tesla could be introducing a stalk option (using same wheel as MY) on the M3 soon?
That would be good. It was a stupid, US centric decision that didn't take into account the many countries that have roundabouts everywhere. Typical Elon behaviour.
On Tesla Taiwan's website, there's a black color option. but only black and quick silver options. I think color palette is different initially for each country.

Lets be honest. It is a total disappointment ! Same battery, 4% more range, no 800V, no higher charging speed..... It is a boring refresh nothing else. Hardware 5? Calling it AI3/4/5 is just confusing to everyone (which is Elon's goal... is it yours?) The rename only happened when people realized Tesla might need to retrofit all cars to meet what Elon said those cars would be capable of doing in the future.
WANT!!!❤ I was happy to adapt to having no indicator stalk but I know many were not so I think that this is the best compromise. Especially for the segment of the market that the M.Y. appeals to. Man I am loving the electric rear seat actuation compared to the manual return to vertical hassle. That is actually a huge benefit for me the way I use my current M.Y. Thanks for the excellent work Will!
They did not include 800v charging because they wanted to integrate the improvements over the next year or 2 to stretch the time of buyer interest for this current updated model. If they included it now, they wouldnt have much to improve on next year.
@ yes well it’s not that small and in order to drive to one side of the island and then back home it uses all my range . There are no chargers on the island except for at the grocery stores that take so long for minimal amount of charge and they charge a lot of $ . I only charge at home on the power wall . But then when I go to other side of island to do shopping I can but I can’t go any where else have to just go straight home . And then I get the anxiety range . It’s not a big deal for them to offer one model with longer range since that day they can do it no problem it’s just that not much people need it well just make less of them in production and sell them to people that want it I bet people will happily buy it .
Hey fanboi, you have missed the point entirely. This is just a cosmetic update. Same old batteries same old architecture. No tech Improvements. And a big increase in price.
Thank you for finally addressing the issue that this new update is missing the BLACK exterior color option. All other Juniper reveal videos in RUclips fails to address or even mention this concern. Nearly every other car in the market has a black exterior option, so why wouldn’t Tesla make this available for the number one best selling car in the world?
lots of people rap there cars for protection i guess if you feel that strong about the black just rap it, depending on were you live it could be the same price as the paint option, Buy the white and wrap it black.
And if I wanted it in yellow, I’d buy the white and then just piss all over it. C’mon now. The color black is a staple for any car. Remember the Model T-the first production car ever? And remember what Henry Ford said about its color options?
4:40 I do not think it has fog lights actually, those are the headlights and I’m wondering how they will perform sitting that low and especially in snow.
Has anyone noticed the lack of the Tesla ‘T’ on the front of all the images and videos? I’ve only seen it showing in the image of it in the new glacier blue with the snowy background.
Is there any info on which battery chemistry the dual motor and RWD use? The long range never seems worth it if it still needs to be limited to an 80% charge…
The new giga castings eliminate A FURTHER 70 parts, compared to the older giga cast design, that already eliminated hundreds of welded and glued parts to the structure. So saying that the giga castings on the new Y removes 70 parts is quite an understatement…
The major drawback of the previous model was gaps and spaces between the second and third row in a seven seater. If they have not increased it by giving sufficient spacing between the seats then all these updates are useless.
I'm getting one but this silver alloys are getting resprayed or replaced, the black alloys on the old model was more aggressive. Matter of opinion of course.
I have model 3 and the auto gear change is great so is gear selector on screen l actually like buttons for indicator so am disappointed they have gone back to a stalk
Is it really that much better? Ride quality maybe, but what else? It doesn't look as nice as either the Model 3 or the Model Y it replaces. It doesn't have 800V architecture, so it can't take advantage of upcoming improvements of the Supercharger Network. Frankly, it's all a bit disappointing really.
Much quieter and much better seats, for a start. Then lots of little things such as the screen in the rear and blind spot warnings. (But, oh, for a rain sensor).
Yeah, I have the 2024 Model 3 with no indicator stalk. It is absolutely fine in all but one scenario. When you have to make a very sharp turn (e.g. at button roundabout or left or right turn >>90 degrees) then it is hard to keep track of the orientation of the indicator buttons when you have turned the wheel a few rotations. Other than that (thankfully rare) scenario, the buttons are fine. But, of course, a stalk is perfectly functional in all scenarios. As for the those front lights on the new Y, maybe they are the actual dip and main beams and not fog lamps at all. The light bar above may be just that, a light bar without dip and main beam capability?
I have one as well. In Europe the inconvenience of not having a stalk is not at all rare, and it can certainly create some dangerous situations if you for some reason need to engage blinkers quickly while maneuvering. It’s such a big fail (for many markets at least). Thankfully, Enhance Auto are making stalks.
You say that the scenario you describe is rare. May be true in some countries but many others are full of roundabouts. I won’t be replacing my 3 with a new one (UK). Might consider the Y but of prefer a 3 if it had stalks (preferably two). That’s after extensive multi-day test drives in Highland.
@ I live in the UK. There are 7 roundabouts on my route to work. So, 14 in a day. But, they are all regular size, so the indicator buttons are not an issue. Button roundabouts are rarer, at least where I live, being limited to some large housing estates that I rarely drive on.
The turn signal buttons. I've got used to them, and even prefer them, and my brother quickly got used to them too which surprised the shit out of me when he drove my car. However, there's always gonna be the time you need to turn the signal on when the wheel is turning or upside down and also... Occasionally we will push the turn signal button and it's stuck. The teeter-totter design of it, where one button is used for two things, means it occasionally just locks up. Which isn't good. Altogether, if they can include it, great. They still shaved off the cost of the other side of it.
It’s a very nice car. I still think real leather seats should be an option in all Teslas. If customers want it and are willing to pay more for it, why not offer it?
Do not like the back, the tag should had stayed where it was instead of all the way down. I also don't like the front lights, way too small. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Glad that Tesla has listened to the public, and not the fanboys who have supported the lack of stalks as a good thing.
I totally agree - no need to polarise the market! :)

Really attractive looking model
The Berlin model Y already had two gigacastings.
as does the Texas factory
Given all the claims about new/improved battery chemistries coming soon that we have heard over the past year or two, the range increase is dissapointing.
I wonder if the SR comes back in the U.S. It was discontinued because it was more expensive than the LR.
Exactly!
@@Jaw0lf both options would be nice for those that like buttons/stalks
you're supporting fascsim by driving a Tesla .
Who drives with two hands?
I agree. My 2024 M3P is stalkless and it looks so much better than two bars coming out behind the steering wheel. And the buttons work effortlessly.
@@deanprater12 You are not an experienced driver.
It's got stalks!
I'll buy one.
As soon as I win the lottery! ;)
Exactly, it's still unaffordable.
It’s around 600 bucks a month to lease.
The best just got better. I’ll wait for the a few months, don’t need the launch addition. Brilliant to see they listened and kept the indicator stalk. I’d still prefer the gear lever as well.
I will buy a model Y when hardware 5 (AI 5) becomes available
Disappointed that there is no Heads-Up Display for driving safety and Tesla should have more options including adaptive air suspension and an even larger battery pack (90-100KWh) especially for RHD markets where the premium Model X and Model S in RHD is no longer available.
I agree! Given the tech heavy design of Tesla's, a heads up display should have been one of the first things implemented in every model.
Simply cost cutting at its finest. Idk how anyone could say this car looks good. It's meh..ok at best.
How're you doing? I haven't seen it on the streets yet. There's to wait a few to see if it's the model that we are watching at screen. A sincerely greeting from afar.
Love your humour and humble approach. Brilliant!
Makes sense the new more affordable models are coming this year so they are making the Y more premium to differentiate the models. They really need to add air suspension. If they did this they could drop the Model X
Let's hope the new models have 800V architecture, else Tesla is rapidly falling behind.
Model X and S will be dropped.
The S and X will get 800V next. These will get it after those on their next refresh.
air suspension is expensive n doesnt last because idiot will fly over bump.
Tesla refreshed MY into a Hyundai Elantra.
I cannot comprehend why indicating/blinking is not already automatic. If I’m in navigation mode, it should know when to set the indicator. Leaving rare uses for highway lane changes.
It's automatic if using FSD. I rarely use my blinkers as I always drive with FSD on, or I guess FSD drives me around.
@@Nerlin I simply can't fathom paying that much for a car and not wanting to drive it. Oh well, to each his own.
@@Nerlin I don't want to be driven around. Where's the fun in that? Wouldn't want it even if free.
@gannetripple to each his own. I like FSD.
I dont think those are Fog lights, there are the main lights and the lightbar is the day drive light or whatever its called in English
Agree. I’m wondering how they will perform being that low and in snow conditions.
White and Quicksilver, those two colors really pop on this car
THX WILL🤗😎😁💚💚💚
I am very disappointed with the lack of changes in batteries. The Chinese and Porsche have it much better with 800V architecture, better charging speeds and curves.
Everyone knows that on long journeys we only use 70% of the battery, from 10 to 80%, which means a range of about 200-250 km on the highway, which is a very small result.
I have a volvo xc40 recharge right now for work when my lease is up in 2 years this will definitley be on my list!
What you called fog lights are the headlights.
Yep, got that now. Thanks!
Not all feel the same and I get that.
brake
@@darylfoster6133 ha. Thanks for the correction.
Still no vehicle to load 😢
Absolutely they need to have a black paint option. At least for the performance
So is the towing capacity going to be the same? 3500#?
very glad stalks are back - you are wrong on "getting used to buttons"
also wrong on range. I'd give anything for a 400mile range in lieu of 300 and would gladly lug around a bit larger battery for it. 300mile range on the freeway equates to maybe 200 actual miles and thats just not enough.
Nio best ev car ❤
48v system or still 12v?
i personally find the distance is disappointing. especially the price different between normal and long range is bigger than model 3.
The Rear Lamp gives off great Battlestar Galactica CYLON vibes... hopefully there's a "Left-Right-Left Cylon Sweep Mode" buried somewhere 🤗
What? And give the EU an excuse to deliver a one star safety rating?
its literally a knock off of an ugly chinese ev. not saying chinese ev's are ugly because for some reason china is the only country in the world that can make an ev that doesnt look like garbage, but the chinese ev that copied looks like garbage. i was actually thinking of getting a model y but not anymore.
@@jebes909090
I didn't realize Franz von Holzhausen spent his time knocking off ugly Chinese EVs 🤔
😅
been thinking about getting a tesla for a while now as my first car. well, this new model y is going to be the one. looking forward to it, hope it will be available in europe soon.
Let’s hope so.
On Tesla Taiwan's website, there's a black color option. but only black and quick silver options. I think color palette is different initially for each country.
I bought one, well ordered it.
Very nice improvements to the overall look of the vehicle. When the "refreshed pricing drops" I'll have to give this a serious look.
Luxury car industry in trouble
BMW in trouble
I will prefer an xpeng g6 or zeekr 7x over this car. No more panel gaps 😊, I expected more from the long awaited update. Sorry ... love your channel, maybe consider renaming your channel and focus on more brands 😉
Agreed, but only if the charging network improves in the UK. At the moment, it's simply not good enough for a road trip for a non-Tesla.
There are zero panel gap issues with our 22 model Y Shanghai.
@@rogerfroud300 Non -Teslas can use Fastned and Ionity chargers (both with 300kw+ charging) up and down the country as well as those Tesla locations open to non Teslas. Take a look at ABRP and you'll see that you can easily get from John O Groats to Lands End, using 350kw chargers all the way.
no camera ufront (:
This looks much better than my model y like the back and the front ,I would have thought a longer range would be included ,happy stalk is back but from other comments it might not be needed,Let’s hope Tesla will give me good price on my trade in.
Lets be honest. It is a total disappointment ! Same battery, 4% more range, no 800V, no higher charging speed..... It is a boring refresh nothing else. So, Tesla is lucky to have still the best software and charger network. I doubt that this is enough for the next 3 years to be ahead of the competition! If Tesla would be only a car company I would sell my shares immediately!
I want it but I think I'll wait for AI5
Hardware 5? Calling it AI3/4/5 is just confusing to everyone (which is Elon's goal... is it yours?) The rename only happened when people realized Tesla might need to retrofit all cars to meet what Elon said those cars would be capable of doing in the future.
@@TheLastMoccasin Cool. I didn't make the decision to change the name, but I will call it correctly regardless.
It's not an improvement... all superchargers are only 500V. Literally zero real world benefit for the increased production cost.
Aren’t V4 chargers 1000V?
@@philipbtz They will be, but none exist right now and the old 500V ones will outnumber V4 for many years to come.
Those are not fog lights, the low/high beam with matrix are the one on lower part of the car, similar to cybertruck !
Looks great - I predict the battery etc will be upgraded in the summer once the other new models are unveiled
Thank God the stalks are back. The removal of them in previous models was far too soon imo and made using turn signals more of hassle than necessary.
I think the lower lights are actually the headlights
For sure.
I li e in Hawaii and we have no superchargers here so we need longer range .
You live on a small island but need more than 350 miles of range?
Wait for it in Germany and I like to buy on ! Did he have the new Batterie?
Where have you find the audio system details?
Hello Will, I think it dose look very good.
Thanks for the Word of the Day - Elon-gated.
Please can we get the blue one? 👍🏻😉
😶
Hey fanboi, you have missed the point entirely. This is just a cosmetic update. Same old batteries same old architecture. No tech Improvements. And a big increase in price.
Turning circle improved ?
They stunt nobody. Same batteries, same engines, same range (2.5% more WLTP).... it's just a restyling.
They put an engine in it 🤯🤯🤯
Looks like the Zeekr 7x. Would prefer the Zeekr 001, Xiaomi SU7 and YU7, and Avatr 7
Pity the indicator stock is on the left instead of Australian right.
I think the r2 will take over to top when it comes out
I feel famous. Thanks for the mention, Will 🙂
Gary gets it
Where are the original videos posted? Can’t see them on Tesla X account or RUclips channel
Tesla website, under China or Australia
Thank you for finally addressing the issue that this new update is missing the BLACK exterior color option. All other Juniper reveal videos in RUclips fails to address or even mention this concern. Nearly every other car in the market has a black exterior option, so why wouldn’t Tesla make this available for the number one best selling car in the world?
Consider this: Light tan would compliment an even wider range of exterior colors and have a more "soothing" visual impact than either white or black.
@ Negative. Lots of Uber drivers drive Model Ys for Uber Black. In order to qualify, the car needs to be black on black (black exterior & interior).
lots of people rap there cars for protection i guess if you feel that strong about the black just rap it, depending on were you live it could be the same price as the paint option, Buy the white and wrap it black.
Yes its my next car......
Has anyone noticed the lack of the Tesla ‘T’ on the front of all the images and videos? I’ve only seen it showing in the image of it in the new glacier blue with the snowy background.
Well spotted! If a product is that good you shouldn’t need a logo, it sells itself regardless! 👍
The logo is shown on Tesla China website for all colors.
Is there any info on which battery chemistry the dual motor and RWD use? The long range never seems worth it if it still needs to be limited to an 80% charge…
Next title: New Tesla Y rust shocks the world
Can I order one in the USA?
The new giga castings eliminate A FURTHER 70 parts, compared to the older giga cast design, that already eliminated hundreds of welded and glued parts to the structure. So saying that the giga castings on the new Y removes 70 parts is quite an understatement…
no, its exactly right because that's what the NEW giga castings did.
No, I don't agree...more range is always better...less need to charge, more range in winter, you can drive fast for longer, etc
Looks nice
The major drawback of the previous model was gaps and spaces between the second and third row in a seven seater. If they have not increased it by giving sufficient spacing between the seats then all these updates are useless.
I've heard the 7-seater will be an extended wheelbase version of the Y this time around. Does that make the X irrelevant?
I heard that too. It would certainly be another nail in the X’s coffin 😢
Come on Tesla, where is the vehicle to load facility ??? 😮 I will not buy one just because of the lack of such a useful function. 😢
I'm getting one but this silver alloys are getting resprayed or replaced, the black alloys on the old model was more aggressive. Matter of opinion of course.
What’s happened to the performance version ?
Are the seats bigger ? I think the midget size seats are its weakest point.
The performance will come! I've never seen or heard complaints of the seats being too small?
No 7 seat version?. And he didn't mention front camera.
Looks fantastic,
Yeah how ever a big blop might look like
Well done Will
Thanks Dave. What do you think of it?
@ I think it’s going to be great, I love my Y’s but having more features and ride improvements is a great thing.
I suspect it will do well! 🍻
Looks like the old one. Is this an interim "facelift" model ??
yes.
The Aztek trunk is back.
Yea... no V2L and charging that's the same as 2018 is a bummer. Guess I'll just keep waiting for now 🤷
Have you driven it???
Excellent vid!
Looks like the single stalk is not multi-function as the original.
Do not like the back, the tag should had stayed where it was instead of all the way down. I also don't like the front lights, way too small. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
