If your tryong to capture islands. Make an armed landing ship. Something with a low keel that has the ability to transport armored vehicles would be good. That means you can also design tanks

An amphibious tank would be handy I think, something like a Type 2 Ka-Mi or 3 Ka-Chi - or more modern something like a LAV 25 would probably work, too

I think that you should try to build something similar to a B-1 Lancer that way you can cover air, sea, and land. The folding wings could be challenge though without making them too thick although it shouldn't matter too much in stormworks

You should work your way up to a sort of helicopter carrier, I think is the right word. Ideally it would have a helicopter and plane for securing the air around islands, and an APC for landing on islands. The helicopter could also be used if there's no easy landing point for the APC. Basically a mobile base of operations. Oh shoot, and I almost forgot, you would need to add weapons, so maybe some missiles and a couple big turrets.

Realitsicaly speaking your should paint your stuff into blueish and grayish colors, since sea is mostly blue and gray

Next a Torpedo Boat. You need a fast moving boat to reach the next port and positions. And she must be armed with Torpedoes to sink enemy vessels.

I think what you should focus on in your builds in this series is survivability. Such as double hulling your ships, and compartmentalizing your ships more than you've previously done to survive getting hit. This response is based off of actual real life examples where numerous ships had there entire bows blown off, and they survived, aswell as the ships affected by the attack on Pearl Harbor(all eight battleships in battleship row, and a drydock with another Battleship, and two destroyers(especially Cassin & Downs, which were otherwise scrap except for brand new machinery), aswell as other examples through history.
