Your TurboGrafx videos are SUPER top tier and it reminds that you are indeed Johnny Grafx 😃 I always look forward to these turbo videos and I think your edits make these videos so fun to watch. On top of all that, you really drop some knowledge and your presentation is always so good. I hope I see more TurboGrafx videos in time. Maybe action games and RPG games videos? 😁😁😁
Glad you enjoy! I've definitely got ideas for more. I'll be touching on CD games next I think. I'd also like to eventually follow up my old PC Engine hidden gems video with some more. Maybe we could collab on that? 😌
Great to see another person making Turbo Grafx content. Theres not enough of you in this Nintendo obsessed gaming world. I been collecting PC Engine games for years now and I absolutely LOVE Soldier Blade, Gate of Thunder, Air Zonk!
Really great video! I’ve been getting more into SHMUPs lately after neglecting them for so long, I’m a fan of a lot of the games you talked about in here!
we had a turbo growing up but didn’t have a whole lot of games, out of all these games on this list we only had dragon spirit which i loved. i always enjoyed raiden when i played it on the arcade at the grocery store every saturday
I regretted not buying Dragon Spirit at my local game shop (the only turbo game I've seen in the wild besides the sports games). Though, I could have gotten the Japanese version for much cheaper.
No way is Soldier Blade better than Blazing Lazers. Soldier Blade simply does not add enough to the formula for me to call it better. I would say they are equal in most areas accept music where Blazing Lazers runs away with it. Blazing Lazers was one of the few TG-16 games that really made me question my decision to go with the Genesis. That game and Legendary Axe were truly next generation experiences for the time (1989). Had it not been for Ghouls n' Ghosts and Golden Axe being stone cold stunners themselves...I don't know. Altered Beast, Space Harrier II, Thunder Force II, Herzog Zwei....incredible line-up. Addendum- Insector X was absolutely abysmal for the Genesis. The graphics were so sub-par that it looked like a late generation Nes game. It featured drab colors, no parallax scrolling, ho-hum gameplay, and it was painfully short even for a shmup. The only thing the game had going for it was the title screen.
Love these videos, but I can't believe you left off Aero Blasters. That has always been my favorite Turbo shooter (unless we count the CD games). I always thought that Blazing Lazers was very overrated, both when I was kid and when I return to it now. I always want to like it but I find it very underhwhelming.

@@Johnnygrafx dear sir, I would love to collab on anything PCE/TG16 related. PCE stuff takes priority over everything! ❤❤
Agree with Dead Moon, the visuals are excellent
Yeah it's a gorgeous game honestly
More turbografx content please. I wouldnt mind even longer and more indepth content about each game. Spoil every detail about all of the games lol
I have only played the turbo on emulation but iam a big Shmup fan and looking at this is making think about getting one!
Oh yeah! The best shooters on the best system for shooters!!!
I'm absolutely awful at SHMUPS, but I keep coming back to these because they have some of the best soundtracks on the system hands down
Yup same! The music is like 70% of the experience for me.
Smoke some grass and try star parodia, it's a great begginer shmup with good music and fair difficulty without being too easy.
Dead Moon is a CLASSIC!!!!
It's not mentioned, but I think Coryoon: Child of Dragon is a fun horizontal one
Absolutely!

You have good taste my friend!
Anewshmup channel, and an excellent one to boot! hats off to you sir

Maybe I'll give that Air Zink one a try.
I played AirZonk on my TurboExpress back in the day and loved it!

Raiden at a grocery store sounds pretty awesome
I salute you for your passion....
I too am a retro gamer however shooters never hit my endorphins.
Regardless- I certainly salute.
Side Arms deserves much more love than it gets...
thanks for video and happy new year/shmupping!
Awesome video and excellent picks for the shmups.
I'd love to know where you got those HuCard sleeves. They look really good.
Just some cheapo credit card sleeves from Amazon! "Bronagrand" brand I think.
gotta give it to mushihimesama futari for my favorite bug themed shooter…great vid!
I've not played many PC Engine games, and the shmups look so good
They are! Definitely worth exploring that library.
Excellent Video! I'm A Turbo Fan All The Way. What Happened to Gate Of Thunder, Lords Of Thunder and Sapphire?
I regretted not buying Dragon Spirit at my local game shop (the only turbo game I've seen in the wild besides the sports games). Though, I could have gotten the Japanese version for much cheaper.
Yep the Japanese version is fine. Also the pc engine-only sequel Dragon Saber is great too.
Great video, but Magical Chase is always brought up in conversations about the TurboGrafx. It's not a hidden gem by any means.
I love formation armed F, never beat It though
That game is HARD
no mention of Gate of Thunder or Wings of Thunder!?
Just focusing on 16-bit hucards this time 🙂
Blazing Lazers Soldier Blade and Override are my favorite shmups
Dude override is so good I only recently discovered it!
@@Johnnygrafx Yes it's real good
