@@zihengliao236 😌 that's so kind of you - thank you! I think it's hard for me to see the impact my work has...it can be quite myopic working from behind a computer all day and not necessarily seeing the 'impact' IRL if that makes sense :) I think it'll still be impact for a while to come, though on multiple layers. I'd like to continue the impact on high school education, but something that's even more fulfilling is building a platform to share interesting ideas to help us better ourselves and enjoy life more...which is why I restarted this channel actually! 🙃
I appreciate your transparency and vulnerability in sharing your thought processes in why you hated private tutoring business. I'm sure it took lots of soul searching and self reflection as to why you were unhappy with the apparent success you were having, yet dissatisfied and feeling "lacking". I am encouraged that NOW you have found and listened to your inner core values and aligned yourself to it. It will bring you much joy and satisfaction!
Hey, first and foremost I loved this video. I had a couple of questions which I'm not sure if you covered. 1.) How did you price your tutoring sessions. Like how many dollars an hour for every student, and how much of that went to you vs the tutors 2.) Did you run this business through a central classroom where all students and tutors would meet? Or did you have it so that tutors or students would meet at their own predetermined spots ie: the tutor's house or the student's house. Additionally, if the answer to this was the former, can you talk about prices for renting out classrooms or places to teach?
This was really interesting, thank you for sharing! I think when we think about impact we always link it to reach when in fact you don't need to have a huge reach to be making an impact. I guess like you said it's all about what's important to you.
I've moved from doing three to four hours of classes per day while writing on the side to 5 or 6 to try to make more money. It's way, way tougher to be honest to do more than 4 hours a day of different subjects.
I am a Spanish teacher that has always dreamed of a tutoring center. My degree is in Spanish is that too small of a niche? I tutored on child that needed help in every subject so I was overwhelmed. Do you specifically require children to choose one subject area of need and the tutor specialize in that subject?
Love this video and your energy, just subscribed! I found it really interesting how you created Maslow's hierarchy of career needs! We can relate to yours a lot but we would probably add "Passion" at the base for ours! We run a social media agency but we recently launched a RUclips channel with the mission of making self improvement fun. The work itself plus the vision of creating a community and turning it into a business is motivating us more than ever before 🙌 Anyways, thanks for sharing!!
I wanted to ask, how did you get so many students to be able to scale your business? Im a teacher and considering creating my own business/work for a private tutoring company and use my skills that way
Hi Lisa, I just finished watching the video and found it really insightful! I'm currently a uni student majoring in TESOL and graduate soon. I'm thinking about starting a tutoring business for teaching people Korean. Its quite niche but hopefully it goes well! Subscribed too :)

What do you think you will want after you have made an impact? Although I reckon you've made a pretty strong impact on students already.
