    For all the years I have been casually following UTube shaving videos, I don't think I have seen to now an empty/completely cleaned out MDC jar. This is a historic moment, for me at least, and a 21-gun salute for you for seeing out a jar of MDC and letting us see what this looks like. Still, and joking apart, a very nice shave you've had and yes a truly great soap. I have the lemon scented one and their regular scented one. I'm in my very early 50s and I hope to outlast both of these MDC jars :) Thanks for sharing. Cheerio from the English midlands.

      I have an mdc jar that was gifted to me two years ago. Not even half way there.(im rotating around 20 soaps though) for the first month I got it, I used it exclusively, and I barely even dented it. With a chubby 1 best, 10 swirls of a well hydrated brush gave me enough lather for a three pass shave. I think those who call this soap expensive really need to try it and see for themselves, it might be one of the cheapest per shave soaps, other than value kings like arko.

      It’s a testament to how much I love the soap. I have a large collection (borderline obscene), but still managed to use it up. When I first picked it up, I was using it daily for about 6 months and got through maybe 1/3 or 1/2 the tub. I think this would easily last at least a year if used daily. Cheers!

    This soap is amazing and the video is very informative. I like the way the speaker showed how to lather the MDC. I have compared it to a lot of soaps in my collection and the MDC came way on top. I started off with with the small size and now am going with the big glass jar.

    You need to review that new American made artisan soap crafted with unicorn tallow and hummingbird milk. The scent is literally undescribable! It creates a rainbow lather that just hovers over your face. But seriously, you have made me really want to try MdC. Nice vid!

    I.m new to this soap. Vetyver was my choice. I use a double-edged Karve Christopher Bradley safety razor with a C-plate and Nacet or Parker blade. Complaints about the price of Martin De Chandre are absurd given how long a jar will last. In regular rotation with three other soaps that theoretically cost half as much, I still will have barely dented my MDC as my other favorites run out and are re-ordered from Antica Barberia and Saponificio Veresino The Martin De Chandre is an excellent formulation for scent and performance. I think the absence of post-shave soap feel or slickness is a virtue. It does its job and is gone, laving my skin feeling soft.

    Excellent soap! It won’t leave your skin all dewy, which is apparently the litmus test for a great soap nowadays...kinda funny when people are going to use a “skin food” post shave anyway. Nice shave...

    • @mattdailyshaver3782
      @mattdailyshaver3782 3 года назад +2

      Yes I agree , the post shave is not the most moisturizing compared to some top artisan soaps, but it is still pretty good IMO. where this shines is the quality of the dense tight lather with very small bubbles. Ant the quality of the scents is hard to beat

      @@duncanidaho7494 they are both overall fresh and green scents. The fougere has a sweetness from Tonka and a spiciness and lavender, and a powderiness giving it a masculine shaving foam or barbershop feel (it is the best example of this type of
      Scent IMO). I believe the vetiver is based only on the note of vetiver . Though a single note I think vetiver is a complete fragrance with a lot of complexity, being a natural oil. This variety is more of the fresh and green/ grassy variety, though some of the earthy/rooty character of vetiver is there in the background. Both scents are of the highest quality and natural smelling .
      Hope this helps

    Nice shave Matt, order of MDC greatness in my humble opinion: Fougere (King of Fougere's never to be toppled, addictive scent) Rose (again agree, just like the real thing) Original (A nice warm scent but does not like me) Agrumes ( found it too citrusy) haven't tried Vetyver but have the Fine Acc fresh Vetyver, Bought all the MDC direct and they send hand soap samples which as you say smell just as good, interesting info on the blade, not sure Sheffield is much a steel power house as it used to be which is a shame but i think i'll check it out :)

    • @mattdailyshaver3782
      @mattdailyshaver3782 3 года назад +2

      Got to agree about the fougere. The vetyver is less earthy, Smokey, woody, rooty, and showcases more of the green, fresh and grassy aspect of vetiver in a similar vein to fresh vetiver or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.

    Great shave, talking while using a wedge though... that's brave lol.
    I've tried samples of Fougère, Vetyver and Agrumes and like each one very much. My full size Fougère is being delivered today and I plan on ordering the other two scents as funds allow.
    I'm curious what AS you pair with the Vetyver, I like Fine's Fresh Vetiver with the Fougère but I think Fine's Green Vetiver pairs better with MdC's Vetyver soap. Is there another AS that matches closer?

    • @mattdailyshaver3782
      @mattdailyshaver3782 3 года назад +1

      I normally use Catie’s Bubbles 322 splash when I use MDC vetyver, but it is not that close to it, a bit darker due to patchouli and black currant but I love it. Caties Bubbles in Jour Gris might be closer, but still not a carbon copy but worth checking out if you like vetiver scents. I think the MDC Vetyver EDT would be best, but it is not widely available - u can get 100mL on the MDC site for 44 euros + shipping. Fine Fresh Vetiver is in the right ballpark, and their splashes are long lasting. I don’t know if there is a better splash pairing than Fine Fresh Vetiver. Hope this helps

    • @mattdailyshaver3782
      @mattdailyshaver3782 2 года назад +1

      I think they are all pretty versatile . The original and fougere will go well with many fougeres and barbershop style scents . Vetyver is a masculine note that will pair with many fragrances that utilize this note like guerlain vetiver and many others . The shrine will pair with classic colognes like aqua di Parma colonia type scents / citrus aromatics . They are all very refined quality scents, but kind of subtle - I think u will find they have a lot of versitility and will not clash with your favorite scents
