- Let's dive in and join Ariel under the sea! I am so excited to show you my Ariel doll for the upcoming Live Action of The Little Mermaid! We are still waiting for more official news, but I am really looking forward to the visuals and fantasy of it all. This is my version of Halle Bailey as Ariel, and I hope you guys enjoy her! I really love how she turned out (even though it took longer than usual lol). Also, yes, I threw her in a tank, and that was a big mistake!

@@keylianettenerys2997 Disney didn't invent the mermaid design in the first place. The original Little Mermaid (who didn't even have a name) was only described as having a "clear complexion, blue eyes and a tail." And the original author, H.C. Anderson, was a pretty progressive writer for his time, so I'm sure he wouldn't have minded a change in skin color anyways; I'd imagine he'd be more irritated by Disney changing the entire storyline in their first movie.

They had reasons for it they did her hair more than once she wanted to keep her locs and they didn’t want to damage her hair so they did it the healthiest they could and wanted to flatter her skin tone I can’t say I don’t wish it would have happened but as a hairstylist I see why they went that route I also think part of it was to work with the setting and how they were making the movie maybe

Unpopular Opinion: The pink dress is perfect because it showcases the awkwardness of Ariel’s situation and further emphasizes how out of her element she is. The dress doesn’t suit her just as much as she doesn’t suit being on land.

Personally, I like the mint/seafoam/teal version you see in Disney Princess brand stuff now. But that's totally a preference, and there's nothing wrong with the pink dress
Jokes on Disney marketing, I got both the green and pink dresses on the dolls as a kid. I love both, but I lean towards green because of my love of cool tones.

Don't worry, Hex. You're definitely not alone in your love for her OG pink ballgown. As much as I adore her new green & purple gown, the pink one will always be special to me. Personally, I think people would like it a lot more if the main color was a coral-y peach (or just pastel peach to contrast with her hair's fiery red tone) and the white sections were opalescent.

@@auritaescalaw5198 I got this info from google but the “Dreads” hairstyle still has negative implications because of its slave trade history and may imply an unkempt hair while locs are more of cultural identity as it is a hair grooming technique belonging to those of African descent. So basically if someone calls them dreads they are calling them dirty and unkempt
@@Bajitangerine03 that Information is completely wrong. As someone with naturally curly hair that is now 3 months into my Loc journey. Dreads(locs) are not braids. Braids are braids. locs and braids are 2 different protective styles and for you to say locs aren’t your real hair once again please get the information right before trying to educate someone. Locs are dreadlocks and both names means the same thing

Braids are once again a different protective style. Locs are if anything twists that have to keep getting re-twisted.

She looks beautiful. My one gripe with Halle Bailey's version of Ariel is that I don't like the red they chose for her hair, it washes her out and in many shots it looks like it blends into her skin. The red you chose here or a garnet red or a dark red rose would've looked so nice with her skin tone.

@@ItsHavender_ yeah, at least pick a red that looks nice on her. I saw a video where Glen Keane, the head animator of Ariel, explained they chose the iconic red hair because it looked good with the green tail and it still maintained a nice color in areas that were dark and had a lot of shading.

@@St0ner.b0ner99 I understand that other than Elena of Avalor there aren't many, but my thing with Tiana was as young as I was i didn't dream of owning anything and I definitely didn't understand why she didn't want to have fun and make music. I also didn't understand the ending because she didn't need Naveen to get the restaurant. My favorite princess was Mulan, I always looked up to Pocahontas being part Blackfoot and my favorite Disney movie was Aladdin.

Fun fact: mermaids only have wrinkly tails when they're fry. As they grow up & form their humanoid upper body their tail smooths out & has a more human skin look. The whole process of a mermaid coming to full form takes about 45 years(lol so actually Ariel is in her early 60's 😹)

Te tensil on Ariel's hair is a nice touch! It looks like she just rose out of the water. The glistening on her hair gives it a kind of a wet look.

@@mirageangelica5495 It might be darker when she gets out of the water, someone said her pictures on Instagram show the hair as darker than what the trailer shows. Someone else said the movie is still being edited with CGI and coloring. They might have darkened the scene for the trailer. Either way, I'm excited

Flounder is actually a blue angel fish! He's simply named after a different species of fish. Whilst Sebastian is a hermit crab! The fact you chose a rock crab (dungeness crab) for his base is hilarious and honestly amazing. I feel like adding the tinsel to the hair gave her not only more depth but the sensation that her hair is damp! She's definitely my favourite doll you've done so far besides princess morebucks. Keep making what you love, seeing your dolls drastic changes from their start to finish is always the best. May the fates be on your side Hex, you're a goddess. 😌🤌🏼
