Yeah the plane we are in was the one I bought (a Cherokee 180) a few flight lessons in. I was having so much fun I couldn’t help myself. I got to fly in his Archer for the first few lessons that is a nice machine. He just got it painted, new engine, and new interior. Looks like a brand new plane I’m jealous. Do you have your ppl now?

Good use of the checklist! I wish more people actually used them. If I get in a plane and someone does not use the checklist I ask them to hand me the POH or checklist sheet and I confirm everything myself. Don't think it is insulting to the person for checking yourself, if anything they should be embarrassed that they have not done everything to make you comfortable about getting into the plane with them. The whole goal is to have a safe and enjoyable flight.
I flew a model D 1968 Cherokee 180 for just shy of 20 years. I took lessons in a 150 and the move to the Cherokee was much appreciated. I actually was looking for a larger aircraft but this ended up being almost a gift horse so to speak. Always had the intentions of getting a 235 or something similar, I even did some Bonaza flying but work was always in the way. I put an instrument platform on the 180 and used the heck out of it. I got many good hours out of that plane but age took its toll on me and it was time to step away. Fly every chance you get, you will never regret it.
What is with the age I am 80 and still fly and until I decide then I will quit, but for now want to fly on my own until at least 90 then maybe. and for your information only less than 3% of people in the world make it to 80 so pretty rare person. Keep flying till the end. And if the FAA pulls my license I will buy an ultra light and keep flying.
I am not quite 80 but had a heart attack and multiple joint repairs from my younger years. I did all 3 class flight physicals for 35 years and did a lot of class 3's on 80 plus year old pilots. Your aging has been kind to you, me not so much 😊
Thanks for sharing and hope you have your license by now. The video reminded me of my first solo in my 180 50 years ago in Guthrie Center IA. No tower, chip coated 2200' runway with 10' embankment on one end and a grove of 80' trees on the other. The county fair was on and I had to fly right over the midway. Exciting!
Wow that sounds like quite a challenge as a student! I passed my checkride back in November and try (weather and plane repairs permitting) to go on at least one cool adventure a week or at the very least go up in the pattern. My last trip was over to Niagara Falls which is an 8 hour car ride but only about 2 hours 50 minutes by plane +/- for the winds aloft. I always get a smile ear to ear every time I go up it is such a blast! Hope you still get to go up!
Congrats on your first solo flight!! Very nice job. I drive by Boire Field a lot and it's a pretty busy airport for it's size. I'm also a HUGE flight enthusiast and would love to get my private GA pilots license someday. Time and $$$ are against me right now. CONGRATS!!!

I said the same thing for years and finally just said screw it I need to make this happen or I’ll just be talking about doing it forever. 0 regrets and would 100% do it again. Fun fact Boire field is the second busiest general aviation airport in New England (the busiest is Hanscom). There is over 200 airplanes based there which is really cool. Take an introductory flight to see if you like it. I highly recommend it with John Nutt at New England Aeronautics he is an awesome guy! 30,000+ flight hours, very knowledgeable, great instructor, and very patient.
A Part 141 college is sometimes an option for funding as they tend to run less expensive per hour and since it's a college you're open to student loans, grants, scholarships and other funding alternatives. If one is planning a career in the cockpit Part 141 is necessary for that Bachelor's Degree. Well, with the pilot shortage a degree might not be an issue presently. There's also airlines willing to help with funding for a contract to hire with them.

He said I did a good job. My audio was connected to my headset connection and when I shut my avionics switch off it turned the audio off for the camera and it didn’t go to its internal microphone for some reason

So the turbine sucks the air into the engine then that goes into a chamber i always forget what its called Haha😅Then it burns fuel then the heat off that creates hot air then a fan turbine? shoots it out and thats what makes it move idk if I'm right but please let me know if i am anyway Great job on Flying! That’s a really good description for turbine powered aircraft (turbofan, turbojet, turboprop etc)! But this is a piston engine. Specifically a Lycoming O-360 (which stands for opposed cylinders, 360 cubic inches displacement (size of the cylinders). The chamber in a jet type engine that ignites fuel is called a combustion chamber and the turbine blades are connected to a shaft that spins up the compressor that pulls more air in. Haha that is funny but also so true. I’ve read about so many accidents and incidents that could have been avoided by a simple go around. I’ll periodically go up in the pattern once every month or so and practice a few amongst other things and always have it in the back of my mind from my approach briefing. Super important. It literally only takes a few minutes to go around the pattern and try again and flying is fun anyways so what’s the rush to get on the ground anyway (unless you had a fire or an engine failure etc.)
