Wish there was a course interrupted thread breach like that on the 40 whitworth I like the whitworth but i feel the threaded breach hinders its speed its still quick but could be quicker...
Three ounces? Did you run that through a Chronograph to get your muzzle velocity? And no, its not a destructive device IF the design and production if it was built on or before 1989, and it doesn’t use fixed (shell and cartridge and projectile integrated into a single insertable charge. Any muzzleloader using black powder and any cannon with ah breach that was designed before 1889 that also accept black powder ammo and separate shot are NOT a DD. Best bet is to go to your local federal building with your final plans and get an “ATF Letter” specifically exempting your project from qualification as a destructive device, and they’ll let you know what design changes you need to make to comply.
+Stephen Evans Oh yeah, almost forgot, the muzzle velocity might have to stay below a certain level . . . don’t want folks making APDS Muzzle Loading rounds
I know this has been up for a while but I just found it. Please please tell me, can I just build one of these or is it considered a DD destructive device? I've tried to read about it on the BATFE web site but its confusing. I know black powder muzzle loaders are ok but the breach loader thing seems iffy
I thought it would be cool to build a small mortar type adult lawn dart game using lathe turned steel 1 inch darts propelled by 357 brass blanks filled with black powder but from what I can tell that's illegal also
Shane K The way I understand it is. As long as you are not shooting a complete cartridge (primer, powder and bullet all in one) your OK. The breech loader part must be ok because over 1/2 of the guns at the cannon shoot are breech loaders. I do hope you try to build one. They are alot of fun. Be careful. Do your research and be SAFE
Thanks for getting back to me on that. I know I kind of bombarded you with comments on different videos yesterday, once I discovered your channel I couldn't stop watching. I helped a guy build a carrage years ago for a barrel he had and have been interested since.
I don't know the weight. I never weighed it. The 600 pounds was just a guess. The guess was based on the fact that it broke a 500 pound (rated) rolling cart.
Boondoggle, rimmington and a 20mm cannon 👌🏽
Hay steve, im still here & still want this cannon😊 cannon mike
Next time show the target in the frame as well. We like to see what you hit. ;-)
do you have plans to build a replica?
No

does the barrel or the barrel and carriage weight 600 pounds?

i don't see how you can get 3 oz of B.P in the case.
That's the maximum it would hold with the bullet seated in the rifling
More powder !!!
More powder the better !!!!!
Ma perché nei video americani parlano tanto? Mamma che palle...ti fanno venire mal di testa...
