Maria W. Horn is a composer from northern Sweden, based in Stockholm since 2011. She is interested in manipulating time and space through sonic extremes, oscillating between minimalist structures and penetrating power electronics that utilize both digital and analog synthesis, as well as acoustic instruments and audiovisual components.
Her work examines aspects of human perception: how audio-visuality and the overload or loss of perceptual stimuli can conspire to transcend everyday life and evoke alternative mental states. She is part of the Sthlm Drone Society, an association that works to promote slow, timbral music with gradual evolution, and collaborates with the XKatedral label.
