- My pantries were still disorganized from after the multi-space remodel, so I finally took control and organized them. Now I'm ready for cooking and baking this Christmas. I also used one of our vintage wood sleds to raise a tree up off the floor.

That view from the kitchen window is beautiful.
I just love your videos! You make it seem like I'm sitting in your home just chatting!! And love how you "keep it real"!! 😊
Yay! Thank you!
I feel the same way.
I love the sled idea as a base for the tree. Childhood favorite was cinnamon and sugar toast. I can't wait to see how mulled cider is made the old-fashioned way.
Linda, thank you for another enjoyable video. On a gloomy and rainy day in New York City, you brought a ray of sunlight and warmth to my day. Your channel is my favorite. It doesn't matter whether you are decorating, shopping, baking, organizing, or touring the countryside, you are so positive and inspirational. Your filming and music selections are the best. Looking forward to your next adventure. Robert.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it all!
Good morning, Linda! Your videos always inspire me, whether it is decorating, gardening or organizing, I love them all. Looking forward to the next video with the tour. I have not been to Sturbridge Village for many years, so will be nice to see it again. 😊
My husband and I visited Sturbridge Village this last summer when we took our daughter to Boston for graduate school. It had been thirty years since our last visit and we enjoyed just as much.
Just a tip - if you purchase Norwex cleaning cloths you will never have to use Windex or any other cleaner again. You just wet the cloth and dry with the second cloth. It has saved me SO much time and money. Incredibly easy.
Good to know!
Organizing a pantry gives such a fulfilling feeling! Lovin the sled adding so much charm however it is used.
I just patted myself on the back. I also make my own cinnamon sugar and keep it in a glass shaker.
Linda, you are so creative! Last year, I moved into a 1860s home that was added on in early 1900s. I was unpacking and trying to be respectful of the beautiful hickory floors. I COULDN'T find my furniture felt disks for chairs, couch and rocker...so I realized I had a roll of felting that was for door frames and windowsills as draft blockers. One side is sticky glue, so I used the stripping on rocker and cut square snippets for bottom of chairs legs, bedposts, even hutches, etc. It stayed on and let me just custom fit it to anything.
Great idea!
The footage from Sturbridge Village reminded me of a fabulous New England winter experience .The Salem Cross Inn hosts Fireplace Feasts thru April. A 1700's meal is prepared over an open fire. You can even enjoy a horse drawn ride before dinner. This event truly should not be missed.
Good to know!
Looks wonderful and is now on my list.
Thank you Linda and Ben! So much creativity, preplanning, filming, and editing, to give us such special content!!! 🌹🌹🌹
Glad you enjoy it!
Dear Linda ; Grand show as always 😊 I had lunch on a July day seated in front of the Sturbridge Inn fireplace, with a roaring fire . That was years ago , it will be so interesting to visit again .
I always enjoy seeing what you bring to every day life and the special seasons.
I like the idea of using mason jars for food storage. So much better than plastic. I’ll be looking for them when thrifting. Thanks for the idea.
I love how you always spring into action when something needs to be done Linda.
You are so inspiring!
I have an old sled that I prop up by the front door with ice skates and a red ribbon
I LOVE this type of organization project. Such a feeling of accomplishment when it's finished!
I totally agree!
You remind me so much of myself. I loved doing projects around my home and wanted everything organized.
Wish that I was an early bird . If I wake up before dawn I sometimes think, “I bet that Linda is up and about doing things.” Then I rollover and go back into dreamland. The sled is cute under the tree. We had to tie our very first, married life Christmas tree to the window hardware because we bought one with a crooked trunk that would not stay upright. I had to smile when you tied yours to the post. Pantry organization is so stinkin’ satisfying. Looking forward to Sturbridge Village. Great idea for a video. Blessings as you prepare Sugarwood for Christmas 2023.
Love that view thru the window
Beautiful, peaceful
You are amazing
Love the sled idea ,
In fact I am like a kid when I see you have a new veido
You feel like home , yes a sweet feeling
You are new England
Thank you so much, love all your ideas ,
Glad you enjoyed it
Organizing pantries is my favorite ❤
So satisfying!
Great idea for the sleigh. I have a skinny tree (new) and I may try my old sled under it. I also have a baby sled my dad made when my sister was a baby. My mom used it for all us kids. I remember sitting all bundled up and a blanket around me. She would pull it to go shopping at a department store ( Federals) The sled is 81 yrs old now, It went through 5 out of 9 children.
What a sweet memory!
I have an antique sled that I put leaning up against one side of our fireplace in our library. I have my old ice skates at the bottom. At Christmas time I hang a Nut Cracker stocking on it. I love it 😍
That's a great idea!
I remember lots of winter fun on my Flexible Flyer!
Enjoyed this very much, Linda (as always) - thank you for sharing! 🎄 xo
I get my sled out and hang ice skates on it every year! It's such a good memory of my childhood! You're such an inspiration, love your home and all your tips❤
Great idea using a sled to hold the Christmas 🎄.
I also keep a large bin with paper and plastic plates and cups and flatware in the basement. Especially holiday themed ones. But I've started keeping a basket in my dining room with few things so I'm not always going down stairs when we need a plastic cup or plate.
My kitchen looks just like yours right now.
Love that!
I have a smaller version of the sled on my round kitchen table with an oversize wood cake pedestal and dome, filled with faux muffins. Then I have a large 3 wick candle in a wreath with clove studded clementines around it. Its such a cozy visual. I have always loved cinnamon sugar toast with butter , since I was a little girl... 70 years ago. I do make my own mix up in a shaker bottle. When there is nothing sweet in the house... aha!!!! I can have cinnamon toast with a cup of coffee! At my Dollar tree they have a pack of those felt rounds, that also has long thin strips too. You can cut them any length, They would be perfect for the runners.
Thank you! I will look at my local dollar tree
I use my old sled on my sweet table at Christmas time.... I also make cinnamon sugar. It is a family favorite. When I remodeled my kitchen we included a walk in pantry and it has been a game changer. Always look forward to your videos.
Love the shelf for chocolate and chocolate cookbooks!❤
Love Sturbridge Village can't wait to see the video!😊
Good morning Linda. The home is looking lovely.
Thank you so much
Love the sled idea Linda, feel so good when the larder cupboards are organised!..So looking forward to the Christmas house tour..🌲
Thanks so much, always inspiring
WOW! What I would do for that beautiful large kitchen over your sink! I have a window looking out to my back garden over my sink,oh but, nothing like yours.🎄🎄🥰I have an old sled approx 135 years old, from Husbands family, think I might use that idea for appetizers ! Might even sprinkle a little faux snow on sled.
Hello Linda, I so enjoy your channel for the decorating, entertaining and thrifting ideas. I lived in New England for the first 55 years of my life and have only great memories of my time there. I now live in Florida and struggle to find the decor items that would allow me to recreate Traditional living. Watching your channel allows me to enjoy New England by proxy. Happy Holidays!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel!
I truly enjoy watching all your activities
Saw your snow slime vlog and cant wait to try it! I also enjoy making "applesauce cookies" with three ingredients...large jar of applesauce and two large spice containers of ground cinnamon and two large containers of ground nutmeg. I buy it at Dollar st store because its just for fun, not to eat! You dump applesauce in big mixer bowl and start adding in the spices, which starts out runny but you work it into a dough consistency. Roll out dough and cut with your selected cookie cutters, gingerbread people, reindeer etc. Add wax paper to cookie trays and air dry the cutout "cookies" until they are hard and dry. I put trays on top of my warm dryer, but not in oven because you cannot bake them. Once they are hard, you can "ice" them with puffy fabric paint, which dries overnight. *Use a small drinking straw to poke a hole in softened dough before air drying so you can thread ribbon to hang ornament. Kids love this kind of gooey mess...and I make sure there are lots of REAL cookies and mmilk for them to enjoy.
Thank you! I have a cinnamon applesauce video coming up! I have never added nutmeg. what a good idea!
Linda, this will probably make you laugh but my brain had such a wow moment when you put the parchment paper circles in the bottom of your cannisters! Why did I never think of that?? Always scrubbing melted gobs of chocolate chips, etc from the bottom of jars. It is truly the little things that make homemaking easier!❤
I only came up with doing that when I realized I don't like cleaning the bottoms of the jars! LOL
This was very enjoyable, as always. You've inspired me to do some organizing. I can't wait for your Sturbridge Village trip. Thanks so much, Linda.
🎄❤️💚👏🏻
When the mood strikes, there’s nothing more satisfying than creating order from chaos!
What a great idea for the sleigh ❤
Great video as always. It's always a pleasure seeing your home and your ways of doing things. Xx
Ha, ha, ha, kindred spirits indeed. I just went through the exact same process that you did. had several duplicates of food items, organied everything and now cant find anything. 😊
Thank you Linda, can't wait to see Sturbridge Village, I was there years ago, I bet it is so beautiful for Christmas 😊
I love using jars for storage too. My kitchen is very small, but I like your tips for organizing.
Instead of the funnel to put the sugar in the jar, you can use a piece of wax or parchment paper. It will be easier. 😊
Such a beautiful view from your kitchen window. I now feel the need to organise my kitchen cupboards...its long overdue 😅 Looking forward to your next video x
You looked so classy and beautiful while washing your kitchen window! I’ve really gotta up my game!,😂🇨🇦🎄🇨🇦🎄
LOL I was waiting for my sister to come over and had time to do it. Normally would be in my grubbies.
I can so relate to the "stuff" scattered in the kitchen. I've been dealing with this kind of thing ever since all the Christmas stuff came up from the basement and my regular stuff needs to be put away to make room for it. A lot of moving of stuff from place to place, but very little proper storing or organizing or decision-making. It's been driving me quite crazy, but seeing you have the same sort of situation made me feel better! Thanks for sharing!
You would think we would be used to it year after year! 🤣
Oh my word, I busted out laughing at doom piles....I have a few to clean up today. And cinnamon sugar, I think the best! Merry, Merry!
LOVE the Christmas tree on the sled! And I’m looking forward to Sturbridge Village This was such an enjoyable video, as always!👍🏻🎄
Good morning, Linda 🎄🤶 wishing you an excellent week!
Love your choice of music!!
Thank you
Your energy and creativity never fail to inspire. Very timely project during a time when we're using and buying many ingredients and kitchen tools that we hardly ever use except during the holidays.
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Linda looking forward to your Sturbridge video, I was one of the crazy lady's that met you there, oh the one with the pink in her hair not the flustered one that dropped her coffee. We had a blast that day and meeting you was a great plus...
Hi again! A lot of editing ahead, but I hope to have it ready soon
Love watching your channel.
I'm so glad you enjoy it!
HAHAHAHA!! D.O.O.M. piles!! I have those!! Hahaha - I didn’t know they had a name!! Hahaha I thought I was the only one!
Excellent choice of opening music 🤩 I had a small pair of old boys' ice skates in my basement (left behind by previous owners) and I hung them on the wreath on the front of my house. The black coordinates with my railings and address plaque. So cute! Thank you for the great idea! ⛸️⛸️
What an amazing view! You must love working in your kitchen with a view like that to enjoy! ❤I can totally relate to the DOOM baskets ~ definitely a project I need to tackle as well! Looking forward to your December diary videos!
Linda, please do a video on your Christmas morning fried dough with cinnamon sugar on top. Yum yum. Thanks for your videos. I love them😊
Good idea!
Your video reminds me of jobs I need to get to! I usually start serious cleaning right after Christmas. I love the way you used your sled! I never thought of using the sled on a table! Thanks for your great videos!
Niceee job
Thanks!
Just a tip…eCloth has window cloths that eliminate cleaner. One cloth you dampen and clean the window. The cloth you dry with is a polisher that leaves no streaks. Just rinse the cleaning cloth as you go! Made in New England! I’ll never go back to wads of paper towel and windex. Better for the environment and clean shiny windows.
wow I will look into that! Thank you!
Always a joy to watch your videos. ❤
Linda, you might try placing a square piece of plywood on top of the sled for the tree to set on.
This one the legs go over each side, so it worked out. I had to get on the floor to fix it. LOL
I do that with my cinnamon/sugar mix but I put a wax paper circle between the opening and the shaker lid when I store it since it isn’t used every day. Hate for the humidity to get to it so the wax paper seals & protects. Also do the same for powdered sugar I shake on fruit & desserts.
What a great video❤!
Happy December!
Lovely video❤
Love this! I have used my childhood sled under my tree as well, but the last few years I lean it near the front door with vintage ice skates and a wreath or bow, I leave it up longer than the Christmas decor
That is awesome!
Ever use newspaper for window washing? It has a different feel in your hand but leaves windows streak free. And it's free!
Yes I have and I don't know why I don't do it all of the time.
Love your videos ! I always feel soothed by your charisma . Thank you for sharing your day 🎄
You are so welcome!
Thank you for a breautiful video once again! I very much enjoy all that you share tomake each day a day to enjoy. The music in the opening was very famiiar to me, but I cannot name it. Would you be kind enough to tell me what is was ?
Hi Linda, I hope this day brings you joy!I love that sled under the tree I think I have a great idea for mine for when I'm doing Christmas Eve.You got me going with my pantries I have been putting it off and believe me I have "doom" baskets and boxes. You gave me great ideas on organization as well!I'm wondering if that was Sturbridge Village at the end.Always look forward to seeing your videos and post.Have a great day.🕊️💚🎄
I see I am not alone with not having enough storage!. I keep complaining I need a place for sewing. plus wrapping area, not to mention all planting products like soil, fertilizer, planters. I did change a coat closet into a "pantry" which is crowded. I find my baking powder items are out dated. How does one store flour? my friend tells me to place flour in freezer. My brother said NO it will take on smells of what is in freezer. or refrigerator. placing it in pantry I am not sure about bugs! Glad to see you are getting ready for baking for the holidays Merry Christmas to you
I try to go through my pantry 2-4 times a year ,MY TIP is I take a sharpie and write on the front of the can the expiration date ,that way at a glance I can see what needs to be replaced or used without trying to keep flipping them over all the time to check the date After shopping if I don’t have time to do it,I have a basket it goes it and I do it soon. Works great for me I do use some Mason jars and I keep some labels near by and put the date on them….
I know they say you aren’t going to die from out of date food but this way I rarely have to discard anything Yes I am OCD .THIS WEEK,I will be going through makeup, linen closet, any bath products, but also expired eye drops, etc ……I need to be organized. Love the sled idea ,I have mine from my childhood, one of favorite things,my husband wanted to paint it ,I told him,no way. Thanks for your inspiration.🌿🍃
Thank you for your tip!
Love the idea of using the sled on tables to elevate cheeseboards or desserts. The felt on the bottom is a must!
Have you been able to find out much about “Old Queen Bess”? I enjoy seeing her in your videos.
I wish I knew more about the painting.
I wanted to share with you I have taken to dating EVERYTHING in my pantry, fridge and freezer. The purpose began when my daughter decided she would compare my habits to those of Debbie Reynolds’s in the 1996 movie MOTHER- ahem. 😮 Well, I wasn’t as bad as Albert Brooks Mother’s character in the movie but there WAS room for improvement-LOL. I think I had been watching too many programs about hoarding which also was somewhat of a factor in my motivation to make changes 😊. So, I began dating everything (any food item) according to date of purchase. With that reference point I could check the expiration date when considering using any thing for a recipe. It also helped me decide which things in my freezer I needed to use up when thinking about particular dishes for any meal or baking. It isn’t difficult, I just use a laundry marker to date and if the surface won’t accept it I put scotch tape on the item then write the date there. I love my daughter DEARLY but there are some things that THIS Mother simply can’t accept about herself-being unorganized…..I DO try 😉
Thank you Linda, I was looking for you. Love all your ideas. Did you make the slime to put in the big kids stockings? :-) cute surprise for the 25th. See you next time. Loved the view out your kitchen window.
Hi Linda ! I love old sleds , ice skates wonderful childhood memories. My thought cleaning your pantry , do you ever get mice < haha! I live in the country and always have a cat because I hate mice! Looking forward to seeing you next filming such wonderful items! We went to a very quite town in Ohio for their Christmas night , it was charming !! Hugs from Indiana !! Paula
We do have a pest service. Have not seen evidence in the house. Basement and attic sometimes
❤😊
May I ask what the music was. It stirred my blood. Thanks
Linda, thanks so much for your inspiring videos! I grew up in Massachusetts and your videos make me feel like I am at home♥️
Quick question: do you know the maker of your grandfather clock?
Hi, it is an Ithaca tall case clock. I did not know that until a kindred spirit sent me information years ago.
@@newenglandfineliving it is beautiful! I have three old German grandfather clocks that we got when we were stationed there. I love them and I was instantly drawn to your clock in the last video! Thanks!
Have been curious....are you happy with your French Door Wall Oven performance???
Happy Organizing/Baking!
Yes I am! I had one in our previous house to and love it.
Good morning! I have two old sleds from when I was a kid and use them for outdoor decorating. Love the way yours looks underneath the tree. Did you happen to buy the mulling stick? That was so fascinating to watch. At the blacksmith shop, they said they make a cup size but unfortunately they were out of stock. I would love to get a small one. The large one was quite intimidating.
Hi Kathy!!! I was going to, but there is a lot of old solid iron items in the property dump, I wanted to see if there was something I could use! We have come across, huge stakes, things that can be used as pokers, etc.
I enjoy your channel & aam always inspired!
Good idea! It becomes so much more meaningful that way too!
🤶~⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
Love the sled idea. Question: what do you do with dates? I love them but all I ever use them for is in oatmeal cookies instead of raisins, and in sticky toffee pudding. Do you just snack on them? Looking forward to more Christmas from Sugarwood!
I love snacking on them when I have a sweet tooth!
Hi Linda, many have asked, what was the name of the rousing Celtic sounding music heard at the beginning of your video, and name of the artist?? It was pretty moving!
Always happy to see what you are up to. Love the tree on the sled. Did you eat the chocolate chip that was on the counter?
But of course! 😬
Too funny. I wondered the same thing!
That shelf that pulls out next to the refrigerator - wouldn’t the food items on those shelves be subjected to the heat that comes off of the
refrigerator ?
Luckily not much heat is felt from the fridge
❤️❤️❤️👍🇨🇦
⛸️🛷☃️🎄🎁📯🎅🏻
Wie bekommen nur 2 Personen so ein Haus voll🫣
It’s average size home and we are a family of three plus a dog.
Isn’t organization great? I’m one of those who can’t function properly if things are disorganized around me. Admittedly a little OCD there!
