This is an excellent example of great programming! Sega genesis did not have the console specs to perform scaling and rotation in background but thru talented programmers they figured out a way to make genesis scale and rotate right up there with super nes!
As a graphic designer I understand about limited color palettes. All you have to do to make more colors is animate your color palette. SEGA can look very colorful like SNES, but developers much like in the case of the Wii, don't see the profit in going the extra mile when the perception of a console's ability is much lower than reality. Evidence of color palette cycling right there in the beginning of this vid. Wish they were still making games for SEGA 16 bit.

im actually sad that you beat the mad hatter so quickly. he's such a fun boss and the music's awesome. usually when i fight against him and i know i've got it in the bag, i let him stay at 10 life and have fun dodging stuff and enjoying the music
the music idd is fucking awesome and the colours damn for shure this games surpasses the limit of 64 colours in screen,like the colours in the pre biis stage lots of pallete swaping and you can see every single colour a genesis posessis.

@darksideofthe5un well the characters get hitted lots of times, and they doesnt lost any energy... so codes, btw i used to play this game too. It rocks!! i remember back in the days , magazines give this game very poor review points...just probably cause the reviewers sucks playing the game.

This has gotta be the most awesome stage in the game! The Mad Hatter boss is awesome-- and not to mention the unique music that follows with him! :D

Yes I'd have to say this game probably has the sickest soundtrack of all time for any game from its era. Possibly even into this era, at least top 10.

I always use the blue icon so enemies will last longer.
