Clarence Carter was born January 14, 1936 and was 74 years of age when he made this appearance. It's obvious that he's never lost that touch ~ live on, sing on, Clarence Carter!
Yes, very great contribution to music, Yet one question, that don't know the answer to, and definately no diisrespect, Was Clarence Carter blind? Dunno, but he could surely play, and sing.
It is great to know that my cousin, Clarence Carter, still has so many fans. I never met the man. He is from here in Montgomery, AL. Most of his family from my side has passed on, but God has blessed him to still be here.
Valerie S yes I am a fan,in augusta ga,in have all his greatest hits, slip away my #1,2 weak 2 fight, make love at the dark end of the stret,in rather go blind, feeling is right, patches, trouble inn my home, etc,
I love this song, it still sounds 100% (REAL MEDICINE FOR THE SOUL). That's The Old School Soul Effect. Just Love The Music & The Man "Clarence Carter".
54 y/o wm from the suburbs. I love this song along with Brook Benton's Rainy night in Georgia. Used to listen to it on cassette and eight track in my '71 Camaro. To be young again.
I did too before my records were stolen. Thank goodness for u tube.it was my favorite then and is one of a handful now. My first live and I used to slip away when we could for the obvious reasons and the sentiment will remain always.
@@lesleyturnbull1585 Oh I know exactly what your talking about, slip away is one of my favorites too. I have a large amount of the oldies. And yes thank goodness for RUclips.
This man is incredible. He sings the same as ever and has great sense of humor. My mom grew up with his music and still plays them. AND she bumps it to where people think there's a party going on, but it's just my mom.
Used to help my mom on a paper route in the middle of the night and we'd listen to oldies all night long. She showed me the golden oldies and I love it. My dad showed me rock and roll. And I love it!
I'd drive a long way to see CC do a live performance like this. Hire a nurse for my wife at home to keep that oxygen coming etc. and a guy to feed the dog. So good of him to play small venue like this and let people who maybe never would get the chance to see him. ripple red
Nice to see Clarence cause I never got a chance to see him live , I listen to his tunes while in the service 69-72.. He is a legend. Check out his records with Duane tearing it up...
I was 21 years old when Clarence Carter's "Slip Away" first hit the radio in my hometown of Los Angeles, CA. Radio stations KRLA/AM and KHJ/AM were belting out this sound and the AM radio in my 1957 Chevrolet was picking it up and laying it down. I only wish that I could have been there, at this performance, to enjoy a sound that is always remembered but is slipping away. This music is the vehicle I ride back into my cherished past with. I cannot tell you how special this music is to me.
I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE HIM PERFORM IN PENSACOLA FLORIDA AT THE 506. ALONG WITH THE DELLS TYRONE DAVIS AND LATTIMORE A GREAT TIME... I STILL LOVE HIS MUSIC TODAY 👏💛💛💛
Cleo Lewis Adams I haven't forgot you all these years remembering this was your favorite song. I think of you every time I hear this song and think of the fun we had in LA. I hope you are okay and back home in Pima, Arizona.
The video game “Mafia 3” brought me here. I love Clarence Carter, but has some how never heard this song before the game. Now it is one of my favorites from that, or any other, era!
At 0:20, check out the couple coming down off the hill (black dress & red shirt on the guy). They knew that this was the "real deal." I remember this song from 1968, I turned 21 that year and it was the very best year of my life and the magical music from Clearance Carter just made it all so much more memorable. I had the love of my life (Kathy), the best friends & family in the universe and my '57 Chevy. Sadly, I was drafted the next year (2/5/69) and nothing was ever the same again.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's. These songs bring back memories of a wonderful youth and a time when my mom and dad were young. They're both gone now so these songs bring back wonderful memories. Thanks to all who post the songs from yesteryear!
I remember many moons ago listening to this song over and over with my best friend Cleo Lewis from Pima, Arizona. Cleo loved this song so much and this was the only song she would play all day long. This brings back so much memories of Cleo and her boyfriend Adam. Adam was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California and Leo and I lived in downtown Los Angeles. Good ole days.
