Joan Jett is FINALLY in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's about time. Rock on Joan. Long Live the Queen of Rock and Roll. Congrats Joan. You deserve it
Queen , or should I say , King of copying everybody else’s songs and ruining them. If anybody deserves to be in there it’s Pat Benatar and Heart. Real Talent!!
When Rock and Roll HOF inducted Madonna, NWA, Tupac, Afrika Bambaataa, Notorious B.I.G. ahead of KISS, Judas Priest, and Deep Purple it ceased to exist in my eyes as anything other than a money-raising gimmick. Joan is too good for the "Hall of Lame."
I was 15 when I bought The Runaways first album in 1976. It changed my life. Then Queens Of Noise just cemented it. BTW Lita just killed it with her lead solo on this track. One of the best solos ever.
The Runaways are the greatest all female band of all time! That sound is phenomenal ! Great singing ! Great songs ! They were very underrated! I always say if they came a few years later when mtv came out they would have been massive ! They had a great look too , they were all attractive and I loved their big high platform shoes/boots too as is scene in this video! This is real music and the runaways deserve great recognition ! ❤️🎸🎤
one of my fav jams. these chicks were just kids and they rucking rocked like adults. they were skilled and knew how to rock..their manager knew they had something..pity theyre over.
These girls- all five- were great. Best girl rock band of all time. The only thing they didn't have was the maturity to stay together as bandmates! Could you imagine if they had?
U have to remember that they were kids. Can u imagine having all that fame, money, and all the craziness that is just thrusr at u at such a young age. ?.. I don't know how they survived it.
@@joshjones6536 Ok. I believe I recall her saying that, but age doesn't mean the runaway disappears. I mean, an adopted child will remain one always. A runaway too. Sure, it was only a gimmick tag to begin with, but if they stuck with it together they would (could) have built a legacy. Kind of like, "See? See what determined women can create with a 'runaway' background?" Something to be proud of, but they couldn't stick together. It happens and with these girls it really was too bad.
in the the same situation -.- im 17 I play guitar cant find a bassist/singer/drummer/guitarist Lo and kids these days have no idea what good music is unfortinatly, Im so glad my mom and dad rose me up on this kick ass rock N roll :)

If there's one thing I know about music (and I know A LOT) it's that I grew up in THE WRONG ERA(S). The Runaways were and always will be THE GREATEST GIRL GROUP to ever grace the industry. They had it all. Beautiful, very attractive, very talented girls who became the first girl rock group. I'll admit I have a crush on Cherie and Joan. But that aside, they were skilled musicians for their young age and made a pretty good list of songs that defined who they were. This is a group that really wrote great material that appealed to their young target audience. To a degree, I think this group and their music is largely underrated. Yes they were kids but hey ANYONE can pick up that mic, grab a pick and guitar (or bass) or pull together a drum set and play music. It's NOT impossible and they proved that. It's a shame the group broke up. I saw their biographical film and had an instant love for them. I'll ALWAYS admire each of them, their contributions, and their music. I think in some ways The Runaways never got the spotlight they rightfully deserved and that really pisses me off. Back then, the industry was the exact opposite of what it is now and that's a shame. The 60's,70's, and 80's all seemed like great times to be alive listening to music. I know if I was alive then, I'd definitely be listening to some Runaways. LOVE YOU GIRLS :)
All of these girls play a role in the band, all talented and had alot of pressure being the first girls to make it in the rock scene, they are amazing and they are a band that has to be in my ipod.
I agree! Got to meet Joan way back when she was starting out w/Blackhearts. I was glad to see her & Lita go on. R.I.P Sandy. As for Cherie, love "Foxes", but after I read "Neon Angel", she came across as a whiny, self-absorbed "poor me" & after awhile you wanted to hurl. Joan didn't talk to her for 20 yrs & she was Cherie's biggest champion (& kept Lita from kickin the shit out of Cherie more than once). If you've read the book, you'll be hearing the word "profound" in your sleep for months :D.
Lita Ford is the only woman to receive guitar legend award yet. Lita was lead guitar and played many of the bass parts on the studio recordings, she was a child guitar prodigy.
I was born in the 90"s and I feel like I was born in the wrong generation musically because I love all the rock music that my parrents listen to... these females rock and have serious talent which I love
If I had been alive in the 70s, I'd have gone after any or all of these women. Hell, I'm 23 and these are the kind of women that i like! Cherie Currie rockin' the corset and Joan Jett with those crazy eyes! What ever happened to old-style badass?
Yo, no sé, si es porque era niño y fue el primer tema que se me grabó de ellas. Pero, para mí, ♾️ permaneció en mi memoria, como el mejor tema de Joan.👩🎤👩🎤👅👄💓
When I did open mic ,kim fowley came up to me & basically did the same thing to my friends(as we sat at a table) & I @ Howlin Wolf.(like you see in ).the Runaways movie. Gave me the card, R.I.P. Ashley (I love and missyou). Kim..R.I.P...peace & love StephanieOpal
hello yes any other girls that would like to start a band with me and make music like this? girls aregonna fucking bring punk and rock and roll back in the future i fucking know it
As I wrote on the Cherry Bomb post, I think this band would have hit it big in the USA, and most other places, if they had come out in the 80's--especially the later 80's! But, I don't know the reason, and would like to hear what others think concerning this matter!??? Furthermore, I found it amazing that just a few years later, Joan Jett, and The Blackhearts would hit it huge--who doesn't remember "I Love Rock&Roll, as being #1 in the USA! Well, thanks for reading! BobbyK
Check out the documentary "Edgeplay", for more insight on the implosion of the original lineup of the Runaways, although Joan Jett did not participate. What I remember at the time( they're the same age as me), the band suffered from terrible management and conflicting teenage attitude. I'm sure it was great to be on the road, playing and partying at 16, being rock stars. But with no control and direction, it couldn't last. Sandy, Joan & Lita kept it going for awhile with new bassist Vicki Blue.
What teenage girl doesn't focus on looks LOL? IMHO, Lita didn't spend as much time as Cherie in the mirror. Then when Cherie bailed on the band, the Runaways dream was over & I think Lita blamed Cherie for that. The movie was a pretty accurate pic of what went on internally w/the band & the conflicts between Lita & Cherie. Again, IMHO, I think Lita thought Cherie wasn't taking it as seriously as she should have. In Cherie's book, she portrayed herself as being the "innocent person". She wasn't.
@cuteNADA1992 You have a point, but MTV only had a short time of being the "rebel tv station that played music radio was afraid to play". By 1984 already somebody discovered that a "totally expensive music video" sold many more singles, and suddenly the video became infinitely more important than the music. I think Dead Kennedy's 1985 punk song "MTV - Get off the Air" says it the best. The lyrics are funny and spot on. At least in the 80's MTV still played music. Today? Sigh.
Yeah me too but without Sandy it will never happen. Sad thing really for no one wanted a reunion more than she did. I really believe she loved that band more than anyone and she had to go. The only instrument you could replace for a reunion is the bass for THE RUNAWAYS had many players. Word on the street is Sandy's mom has her drumming recorded to cover songs and new songs she did with her own band if Cherie-Joan-Lita and Vicki or Jacki could play to that in a studio...wow
Joan Jett is FINALLY in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's about time. Rock on Joan. Long Live the Queen of Rock and Roll. Congrats Joan. You deserve it

@@candigates3291 Well said. You're right. I think at that age it was easier to have a ton of bloody good times & fun which helped through the madness.
@@THE-HammerMan they were great, wish that they could've remained friends cause you are right the music would've been amazing.
Yeah but Joan herself said “Once, you turn 18 your of age and can’t be labeled a runaway.”

I'll satisfy your mad desires cause
I love playing with fire
And I don't wanna get burned
I love playing with fire
And I don't think I'll ever learn
My heart is aching to see you play
And I can't wait till another day
The way you shake me is really hot
You know how to use what you got
I love playing with fire
And I don't wanna get burned
I love playing with fire
And I don't think I'll ever learn
Acting tough with looks that kill
You got me going and I can't stand still
My arms are dying to hold ya tight
You're my little dark dynamite you know
I love playing with fire
And I don't wanna get burned
I love playing with fire
And I don't think I'll ever learn
amazing lyrics !

MegaMoose1989 but joan jett is the one people know.
hits mean nothing . the general public like mindless silly music . shes best with the heavy riffs not a top 40 crap like close your brain forever .
