      @nostalgianotes- 4 года назад +2

      He should become that kind of person then. His life was forever changed by accusations that were total bullshit. It wouldn't be in any way wrong of him to sue her & would also help his overall image in the eyes of people who think he's guilty to see him win a defamation suit against her. Of course even then this will always be a blot on his name. The idea that it's unkind of him to sue her is foolish. It would be justice.

      Not surprising. That is why they call them nerdists. Nerds don't know how to handle this type of social conflict. Nerds incorrectly assume they have social problems because they are so smart other people are envious or they don't have common interests or they have better things to think about. However, Psychologists say nerds have a poor ability to resolve social conflict and come up with alternate solutions. A poor understanding of social dynamics and picking up on social cues. They may have a high IQ in some other areas but usually have a low emotional IQ.

    This case should really be a huge sign that this movement has entered the territory of hysteria. Chris Hardwick at most is guilty of being a bad boyfriend and yet he has lost his career over it. It should go without saying that you should not lose your career for being a bad boyfriend (or girlfriend)

    • @mikez598
      @mikez598 6 лет назад +4

      Agreed. We've gone from nobody believes any accusation, to people believe every accusation. Hopefully we can find a good middle ground soon.

    • @saluk7419
      @saluk7419 6 лет назад +1

      It's not even about believing an accusation or not. It's about what should happen as a result. Having no recourse after an accusation is the worst part. We should both find out whether or not they are guilty, as well as determine an appropriate punishment. Not just fire EVERYBODY from their current, future, and where possible, past jobs. We need a better way to handle scandals.

      Months ago she posted in Reddit and says it was her female friend who blacklisted her. In a previous Reddit post to this one, she also said that this friend was the only one who visited her in the hospital (never mentioning her mother or Chris like she does in the youtube video she posted about her hospital stay...) and saying it was this female friend who made it her life's job to blacklist her. These were about 6 months ago and 7 months ago. So her story changed according to her audience. I can't figure out what is the truth or not.
      "Have you ever gone through 'friendship heartbreak'? How did you deal with it? by a_raised_eyebrow in AskWomen
      [-]skydart 71 points 4 months ago*
      I was dating a man who was not a nice man, but happened to be well-known in a certain niche industry- I met a woman during that relationship, on a job. She knew who I was dating. After I had to have "surprise surgery", she was the only one who came to the hospital, and dropped off a present for me. I fell in love- she became my sister. I got her repped at my agency, I was offered my dream job and took a huge paycut to get her hired on as well, and got her booked on two other jobs as well.
      When I realized I was in an abusive relationship, I told her I was thinking of leaving. She told me "I love you, but think of your career"- Since he was well-known, in her eyes this meant he was helping me. He wasn't. I was baffled. The day I found the nerve to finally dump him, she screamed at me for ten minutes, saying "how am I supposed to work with him now?" She took my friends out to dinner and told them really weird, untrue stuff, made it her mission to wreck me. She somehow got me fired off of the jobs I got her hired on by telling them I was unstable. She even went to my agency (I was there for over 10 years) and tried to get them to drop me. I lost a lot of friends, and was generally blacklisted in our industry. Luckily, my friends eventually came back and apologized, but at that point the damage had kind of been done. That woman single-handedly ruined my life. Best part? She's still friends with my ex, and is now besties with his new wife, as well of the wives of several other well-known folks in our industry. I also found out she'd done it to 5 other women. I'm still in therapy for that dumb relationship and friendship break-up, and it was years ago."
      and in the other post:
      "Thank you so so much. It means a lot you took the time to write this to me. When the break up happened, my best friend at the time dumped me the same day (she implied she thought I was torpedoing hers and my careers by leaving him), turned around and told everyone really awful, untrue things about me. Unfortunately, I probably deserved some of it because I left my abuser for another guy. It's a long story, but the people I loved and trusted turned their backs on me, didn't believe me, even though I'd clearly proven that I'm not a liar or shit-stirrer. It's easier to take the side of the more famous/powerful person. I feel like this has all been bubbling up in me for years, but I'm afraid I'll be ostracized again."

    "she wasn't allowed to drink in front of him because he'ls sober" How is that lumped in with the other allegations? It seems pretty understandable to me. If I had diabetes I Probably not want to come home to a girlfriend gorging herself on cake and ice cream. My sense of this story, and bear in mind I'm basing this on absolutely nothing., is that maybe a good chunk of this is true, but there'ls more to the story. Everyone will always tell their story in a way that paints themselves in the best light. Whether she'ls out and out lying, or lying by omission, or just not realizing you're doing damage to someone's reputation because you egnuinely think yourself a victim (real or ikmagined). What I'm not going to do is dehumanize women by assuming that they always tell the truth because they're delicate, gentle, flowers who don't have the mental fortitude to act maliciously. Women are huma beings with the same mix of bad and good that men have. Deal with it bigots.

    Thank you guys so much for finally bringing up these points. A lot of the stuff is becoming ridiculous and it's so easy now to make accusations. Of course we have to believe the accuser up front, but at the same time the accused definitely need a day in court before they lose everything they worked hard for. It's just getting so excessive.

    We shouldn't lump Chris in with TJ Miller. I am a big fan of their work, but Chris has brought forward a lot of strong evidence to prove that he hasn't done anything wrong. TJ seems to have only made his situation worse.

      Agreed. I didn't like that comparison either. I think it brings Chris down. I would put Chris in less hot water than even Aziz at this point, let alone TJ who is a dick in other aspects of his life too which makes it easier to believe he was a dick in the bedroom. Chloe's story on the other hand doesn't even add up. Chris's exes say that's not what they experienced at all, the evidence shows Chloe lied about the breakup and omitted trying to get back together 7 months later, and she cheated on him not the other way around. It's all just too fishy. She seems like a wannabe victim.

    if you listen to the Hostfull podcasts of the Nerdist from this time you can hear that there MIGHT be more then a little something wrong with the statement from Chloe, I am not saying she is lying BUT from the context of the conversation and the reactions from Matt and Jonah, there looks to have been more then a little good cause for Hardwick to end the relationship and maybe should have sooner. I always liked Chloe and followed her after the break up but I did get kind of a vibe from how she acted and reacted to things. IMO I think this is her trying to get attention and hopefully advance her career, if I am wrong, I will admit to that, but that is my opinion.

    Nikki Glaser said "Let's put that on the side whether or not he did it." What I want to know is this: what did Chloe Dykstra say he did? After reading her post, it seems like he didn't do anything illegal or too bad morally. The worst thing she accused him of was blackballing her. The emotional abuse stuff is bad, but the same kinds of things happens in at least half of all relationships.

    Now you aren't even allowed to have a bad breakup any longer. All of those allegations could have different perspectives. Like if he says "i don't like it when you hang around other guys" to her means "you are not allowed any guy friends" etc. And these guys may have been exes or whatever. Two people can see things differently. Mental illness or eating disorders can also play havoc on your reality. How does she know he blackballed her? Perhaps she didn't get hired and assumed he did that. Firing someone over a bad relationship is insane.

    I agree with most of what everyone is saying here.
    I'm not saying that I don't believe the woman in any situation.
    But in this case (as well as Aziz's case), even assuming the accusations are true it still seems more like a scenario where the guy just needs to be taught "hey, this isn't cool and you need to do better." It's not serious enough to ruin someone's career over, they just need to be re-educated on how to properly respect people. They're not actually abusing anyone, they're just acting like an entitled dick, which is kind of understandable from someone who's been famous for a while and forgotten what it's like to be told "no."

    I'm so torn over these accusations because I don't want to call Dykstra a liar but it's so hard for me to believe what she's saying. If any of it is true how come none of the other women he has dated in the past have come out in support? Instead most of them have come out in defense of Hardwick unsurprisingly. Honestly I think Hardwick is too nuerotic and anxious for me to believe Dykstra. Hardwick doesn't have the kind of personality where he'd try to exert his will over someone.

    • @griffhay1
      @griffhay1 6 лет назад +2

      The other ex's defending him is the part that makes it difficult for me to believe her. Typically with the kind of people that are abusive, they have a pattern of that sort of behavior. Its not like they're model boyfriends to a number of women and then go "eh, I think I'll treat this one like a piece of shit". So to have three other women come forward and say the allegations completely contradict their experiences with him raises a lot of red flags for me.

    • @SecretSauceyjuice
      @SecretSauceyjuice 6 лет назад

      Exactly. If he were suuuuch an abuser to the extent that she claims, why was she the only one who experienced it? Abusers are abusers, they don't just try it out for one relationship.
      Not to mention her story doesn't match the physical/media evidence of text messages and her video blog. Sure maybe the blog was her just pretending nothing was wrong, but the texts? She just straight up lied there.

    Abused women have a hard time leaving their abuser. It take a lot of suffering before the abused finally leaves. Ask any person that admits to having been abused about this. Most of the time, abuse isn’t acknowledged until way later.

      Kat Sure, Stockholm Syndrome is a thing, but why is it that 3 of his exes have come out and said that's not what they experienced at all? Why was Chloe special? Abusers don't usually pick one relationship to be a total piece of shit and then are completely normal and sweet in every other relationship and aspect of their life. It doesn't add up.

    • @JeffPenaify

      For me the big red flag was how she described sexual abuse as him letting her know he has a high sex drive early on, and that his relationship failed from lack of sex. That is a very honest and legitimate point to make when forming a relationship its not a veiled threat its his right as a human being to want sexual intimacy he can get anywhere from the partner he's loyal to. It disgusts me how her literal consent can be spun as sexual violence. It disgusts me. Maybe I'm just a skeptic but that alone didn't make sense at all to me. She claimed she had video/audio proof she needs to fucking present it the damage is done and this guys career is fucked she should prove it it is wrong not to at this point.

    • @onlinemm0911
      @onlinemm0911 6 лет назад +1

      She posted a vague article. He presented texts and then there's the video. She even said she had proof but she never released anything. I didn't jump to conclusions immediately but once the texts came out I immediately understood it was just an Aziz 2.0. This is fucked up for Chris and for actual victims of abuse. Making it harder for their claims to be believed. This is clearly just a bitter ex getting revenge because he got married or because of his success. Atleast you have the courage to admit you made a mistake. There are still people saying Chris is guilty, without any proof, which makes no sense because there's more proof that indicates he's innocent compared to just an article.

      Lisa Nicoletti I believe she was struggling with anorexia before they got together. The sad thing is I don't think she's intentionally making stuff up I think she has serious mental issues and is spinning a bad relationship as malicious intent. I mean the whole thing is whack from her own description Chris had no idea she was feeling that way as she herself said she "played along with it" and the fact all his exes for the past decade spoke up for him points to her having her own emotional/psychological issues that have probably been there before she met Chris

    As someone that never really liked Hardwick, I feel like he's getting shafted. That woman's statement felt very disingenuous, like she was implying things were far worse and never went into any serious detail that he abused her. It really did read like an angry woman getting back at her ex, and when Hardwick released those texts that just proved my suspicions.
    This is a clear example of toxic femininity, that a woman would take the Me Too movement and use it to hard her ex who she had a bad breakup with. To all the guys out there who didn't rape or abuse anyone and made the mistake of getting with a crazy woman, SAVE YOUR TEXTS.
