Thank you very much for sharing and explaining where your music comes from and how you feel it. It is truly a great example that, more than having more or fewer machines, what matters most is something that cannot be bought or copied, and that is what you truly carry within you, born from effort, perseverance, and having that "magic" inside.
It’s easy to get caught up in all the new and exciting gear that’s out there. And it really is exciting, but they’re still just tools for expressing ourselves musically. Too often than not, I got distracted by the paradox of choice, instead of just being in the moment. That being said, I know plenty of people who thrive under those conditions as well. So, I guess it comes down to knowing yourself and what you want to convey.
Thank you for sharing your minimal studio setup. It's lovely to have an insight into your tools, your workspace, your process, and your lifestyle. I'm very drawn to the minimalist life myself too, but my setup is not quite so minimalist as you. I have one question, if I may. In the video, I understood that you now only use Ableton Live to create music. But in the description, you list links to plugins and samples. Did I misunderstand? I have heard of musicians using only Ableton to create music, and it is very powerful. I use the intro version myself, so have only limited access to many of Ableton Live's best tools, that require Suite, and MaxForLive. As a result, I have opted for a selection of plugins, and a few samples, although I generally seek to create my own samples and field recordings. Thank you for all the beautiful music you share, and all that you share about your process too. You are an inspiration.
I’m so glad you liked it. It’s so nice that my process and space can be of help in any way✨ Yes, so although I primarily use Live to create music. There are still a couple of third party plugins I use with it. It’s mostly for mixing and mastering stuff, like compressors, limitors or tape emulators. I collect most of my samples via field recordings. But every so often I get a sound stuck in my head that I can’t recreate. That’s when the sample libraries come in handy. That being said, I could probably get by just fine with the intro version of Live, but I would miss Max for live a lot though. And thanks again for all the kind words, it really means a lot✨
@@andre_davies Yes, part of me still misses the Pulsar, a very beautiful instrument but tricky to work with. It's a balance I've also struggled with, and if I admit it to myself I'm just as productive with only Ableton too - been using it a long time and have quite a lot of VSTs I know well but I still love that hardware! You've owned and used some beautiful instruments and effects like the Lyra 8 and OP1and lovely pedals - do you miss any of them? Very brave to be honest to your own path though 🙌
Thanks! Glad to hear that it resonates with you✨ I’ve slowly paired down over the last couple of years, and it made room for so much more of what really mattered🙌🏻
very inspiring, I am in the process of reducing my belongings drastically but am not sure I could go that far, maybe I will at some point :) The mental / focus benefit is obvious when seeing your space
I’m glad you liked it! It took a lot of time, trial and error, to get it to this point. And the setup will probably evolve more over time. But one thing is for certain, restrictions is a powerful tool for creating music✨
Really love the aesthetics and all the colors in the studio! Also the shots are satisfying to watch too :) But as much as I hate to be saying this, the level of the music overwhelms the level of your voice. Anyway, great video!
Thanks man! Glad you liked it✨ Yeah, the levels were okay on both my speakers and headphones. But when I played it on my phone after upload, it was a bit muddy. Better luck next time I guess🤓
Yeah man. Minimalism is the best. I like minimalism too. Macbook silicon and one great controller = play 1hour set.

@@andre_davies knowing yourself…. That’s the main point of everything 🤘
Gorgeous space! Love the essentialism!

@@andre_davies Thank you so much for responding, and sharing a little more. I really appreciate it.
Be well, and take care. x
Hi André, I thought I had a reasonably minimal setup but then I saw your video! Thanks for sharing your minimal studio, very cool 👍
Hi Mark!
Thanks, glad you liked it! Haha, yours is pretty minimal though. At least after you got rid of the Pulsar ;D I wanted that thing so bad🙈
