D Kieffer I turned mine into a tool box man I’ve got foam inserts glued in that hold half inch and 3/8s sockets 8mm to 24mm ,extensions , Ratchets ,wrenches from 8 to 22 , I even have a foam insert that holds my half inch impact and then I throw my straps in on top
Here’s My 2003 WJ , 37’s 1 ton axles 4:88 gears 7 in lift loaded about 8 unload 2in outside diameter tubing for the 3link front and 4 link rear Wheel wells tubed in rear and front . Fully trussed and inner sleeved axles Full 3 in exhaust High clearance belly skid, tc cross member, relocation of everything that was below the unibody frame. Steel fender flares (2in more coverage than stock) Cold air, 62mm throttle body, gasket matched intake ,exhaust, headers, pre cats deleted borla muffler, magna flow high flow cat. Rear bumper with swing out tire carrier Front bumper with hidden winch plate. Stiffened unibody rails Extra high tank lift Tuned , stroked 4.0 to 4.7 with forged internals, balanced, new mild cam and roller rockers ( I picked up slightly over 100 whp. Body was roughly 90% stripped ( I left the dash and wiring in ) then all rust was removed, body , engine bay and undercarriage was raptor lined and internally coated with Eastwood internal frame coating . There other little things done inside but not going to list. I bought the Jeep with 100k before the rebuild and now have almost 225k. Half of which is off-road. I will only go with my 34’s while off-road. The 37’s suck and are used on the street.. Way too big on a already top heavy Jeep . I learned my lesson (1,590$ later ). Took 2 months to build with the help of my dad rebuilding the engine in his machine shop.
Forgot to add that my buddy cutout my wheel wells for me and tubbed them . Also my rear shocks are relocated inboard ( you can only do this with a tank lift)
Love the videos guys! I like the fact that you are actually building a sick wj in real time. Oh well, 5 years ago people could not have given a crap about those GrandWagoneers, but now, all the rage is on those... Anyway, I am going to be curious about how this thing drives/rides on the street. I lifted mine with the IRO 4 inch, and the death wobble was insane! I could not go over 55mph or I would lose it. The guys at IRO told me something is wrong, something loose. After weeks of trying to find the issue, they were right. Still, what a lift to put on the highway! I am rooting for the build because it is freaking awesome!!! Good job guys and thank you to Iron Rock Offroad and ALL the other companies that build awesome parts for the not-so-popular Jeeps!! Skip in NOLA
I did the tank lift and gained about 9 in. I also relocated the evap canister and hoses up Where the A arm used to be, I made a small skid plate for it too.
WOW..... Bad ass WJ But I definitely would go with 38's though! But.. It what the customer wants right. . You guys truly do some quality work and it's good to see u don't cut corners.
Hi! We truly appreciate you taking the time to send us such a kind message! At the end of the day the main thing is making sure our customers are happy. That is what truly matters and cutting corners is not the way to go about it. Everything is equal and everything is taken seriously. That is also why we beyond appreciate you taking the time to post this! It definitely brightens our day!!! Happy New Year Thank You @ExtremeCustoms
I love the whole build... Except for those tires !!!! They look like something an 18 year old would have on his truck going to prom !!!! Please talk him into something different !!!! I've got a 2002 WJ Overland that would love to have a lot of the mods that you've done. GREAT WORK !!!!
I was loving the idea of this build until I heard 10 inch lift and then saw those wheels. I can sort of understand sticking with the d30 as long as he stays with a 35" or smaller tires with CrMo axles, gussets, truss and sleeves. It should hold up as long as it doesn't hook up. A 10 inch lift with the spare on the roof is going to be a nightmare in off camber situations. I'm also wondering how long it will take before he cracks a rim (more sidewall is kind of "off-roading 101"). Also, last week I spun the center section of my D44a on the axle tubes with stock wheels and tires. Can't imagine how bad it would have been with gears, lifted and with taller tires. Can't say I wasn't warned tho...
I don't know why people go so high but 6" is plenty for almost anything... how do you combat front pinion angle and drive shaft vibrating at that height? I struggle with being 6']" lift on mine..... also do research on a tank tuck.... super easy I did it on my wj... helps so much.
Im wondering the same thing about the drive shaft angles. I have 4"long arm, and my front u-joint keeps screaming at me (double cardon shaft). Would a transfer case drop solve this?
Gotta get some bigger meats on that rig for sure. I don’t remember what gears you guys are running in that but hopefully they’ll allow for some 37”+ tires.
I am so ridiculously curious to know the plan for caster/pinion/drive line angles for the front axle and how you're going to deal with vibrations. I'm assuming he still has the NV247 TCase..
The IRO Lift allows for caster/pinion angle adjustment and with that dialed in with a custom Tom Woods driveshaft with a Multiple Double Cardan design will should work well as far as vibrations are concerned. -Alex
Lift is too high Go with a lower lift springs from iro. They make a 5.5 inch and adjust the rest down. It will be more cost effective. Plus 40's or even 37's on a Dana 30 is just asking for problems even if you threw RCV shafts in there.
I have 37’s and a one ton axle swap , front and rear . I would never drive a Jeep with a d30 and 37’s. Hell NO !! That axle will be destroyed the fist trail it sees.
Kabooooom! Goodbye carrier lol. I got a few buddies who run 37s on the d30. Surprisingly they hold up with a good truss. Balljoints and axle shafts, not so much
The IRO sleeves and c-gussets are installed on this D30 with some Chromoly u-joint axle shafts and Dynatrac Ball joints so hopefully it stands up to some abuse! I do agree that 40s would be a little to much for a D30 though. -Alex
Build is looking good! I feel like you guys should show more fab work and less talking. But this episode was better than the last one! Jeep looks awesome. Good job guys
Was that the oem plastic gas tank? If so with that much lift a rear end collision would be bad. It looked like it might have been a metal tank. If so which one.
I replaced the thin "brush guard" gas tank skid with the thicker mopar one. It is like 2.5x as thick as the stock one, mine was rusting off. The tank itself sits inside, and is still the stock one.
1. This is seriously awesome. I’m definitely against those bigger wheels with the smaller tires. And maybe your thought with using spacers would be a good idea to keep it from rolling over. 2. Where are you located in Wisconsin? 3. Is it possible to tell us the price or at least DM? I’d love to know for a reference for myself in the future.
Jajajajja that should of been my 2002 jeep chky jajaja. An weath a custom tank. That holds more gass an is lick in the middle off the jeep an weath a 1 or 2/4 inch gard four scraps jajajaja. Ps nec jeep thow..
You want to replace the driveshaft with a double double cardan unit. Sometimes called a multiple double cardan driveshaft. I did drop my tcase 1 inch as well.
Get that customer to get bigger tires or lower lift. change those wheels too looks like he will only take it to the mall with those hot boys on it but overall its a bada** rig.
LOVE that you guys are using the spare tire well for stuff instead of a tank tuck. It's how i'm doing mine as well.

What'd you do for front driveling and vibrations at highway speeds? I'm currently getting destroyed on my 02 WJ.
@@GReerKid1989 hard to say without seeing it man. Could be so many things. Start with the tracbar and control arm bushings

Looks good guys! That fuel tank is gonna stick out like a sore thumb. Ditch the spare tire well and tuck it up

Seems like you could put in a larger tank using that space. Range is important.
@@richardmiller1256 half a tuck and a 35 gal tank? Good idea, imo.

At least inner sleeve the axle and use c-gussets, along with the truss. The gussets and sleeves for the D30 can be found at “IRO”
I just don't trust 37's on a Dana 30. It all depends how you wheel I guess but then where is the fun if you can't use the skinny pedal when you want

What did you guys do for the hydro, how is it disconnectable?
How did you get 10”inches of lift what coils are on there? @extreme customs
8" IRO with spacers
What lights did you use for the Goliath front bumper? And how was it installed? Just ordered mine...
