    Based on the evidence you've presented , my money is on it representing Artemis. Pity that only the faintest traces of the original colors remain.She must have looked really impressing !

    Can you include some sort of bibliography citing the "research" that keeps being cited. This is very interesting, but I would like to read more about how "this may, in fact, not be an offering, but a goddess." And I'd like to read more about the paint research that reveled she had animals on the clothing.

      At this juncture of the depictions of divinity by mostly male archaeologists, it is still so white male superiority that dictates who is a goddess and who is a "female" figurine. Guess what? The ancients did not have the same point of view for starters. They perceived the universe and human society in what we would consider radical ways. Open your minds and learn.

    The other two korai found on the Acropolis are beautiful! They're so much more elaborate than the current one being discussed. That would suit Artemis, who wasn't so interested in attracting anyone, iirc. "Keep your eyes on my ladies while I keep mine on my prey." I could see that.
