In my last playthrough, I just did the trial test, messed it, by not giving a fair judgment, fought off some enemies and... could enter the Ansur's cave right away, skipping all the other trials. This makes me wonder, if they are needed at all?

Why didn't Ansur do the second storm blast? I mean when he reaches 1 HP he always immediately flies upwards for the aoe
