I think they were getting too emotional with him singing with them. Roger Taylor got emotional many times on set playing with someone who sounds and looks like Freddie.

For the record Freddie Mercury was of Persian [Parsi] descent . His family were Zoroastrians who fled persecution. He was born in Tanzania [of which Zanzibar is a part] and went to school in India before the family moved to the UK where he went to college. He's neither Indian nor Pakistani but he was a British citizen, so yes, British.
