Brian May's comments on the Gloucester show: Great final show tonight on the Queen Extravaganza tour of the UK. It was in Gloucester. I was happy to be in the audience - it was well worth the trip. They performed the album “A Night at the Opera” in its entirety ! I don’t think I’ll ever hear The Prophet’s Song played to that degree of excellence again. Great musicianship, great dedication to detail, and nice presentation all round. Well done QE team. Rock on !
Late response but I suggest listening to it live at Earl's Court '77. Quite different than the studio version, but that's what Queen was all about, they didn't want to simpily do the same exact thing from studio to live, kinda like whats going on here
This song is far harder to perform live than many realize - especially for Mr. Martel. This song demands a huge range and the ability to sing in time with carefully set echo effects that allow the singer to sing harmony with himself live. It is much harder to do than it looks and this group does a terrific job. I would not have believed that this difficult song could be performed live again after Freddy passed and the guys do a great job here. I do wish they would come to Detroit...I'd love to hear this live. Apparently lightning struck twice when Freddy and Marc's voices were created. Great stuff. It must be very gratifying for the guys in Queen to hear this music sung and performed.
Enivan Nogueira Technically, he just naturally sounds like Freddie. While when he was singing with Queen Extravaganza, he was trying to sound closer to him, yes, but, the fact of the matter is that even if he wasn't singing a Queen song, he'd unintentionally sound like Freddie at points. Just listen to his iteration of Take on Me. He just has a similar singing voice, end of story. I don't mean to sound rude, however, I just wanted to clear that up, because, well, sounding like someone doesn't mean you're always an imitator
Curtis Peters thats why they picked him as winner in the contest to be the frontman of this Tribute band all hand picked by the Queen members. Awesome job.
I can swear this song is extremely difficult. It is almost imposible to sing the acapella part without getting confused with your own voice and lose the right notes and tones. I mean, I've tried thousands times and I can't achieve the part correctly. This man is seriously talented, not even Freddie could do that acapella part live
@@RG-qc7dh It is hard by own Brian's words, the genius behind this composition. If you think you have better ears than him you are probably just tone deaf and did not realized it yet.

Holy shit he sung the hell out of that... Freddie struggled singing this every single time he sang it live, often if not always lowering the key. I have loads of Queen bootlegs from ANATO tours and there isn't one comparable version to this. i love Freddie btw so no hate.
+Jester 501 Totally understand what your saying. Even singing lower keys and with vocal nodules holding him back, Freddie's intensity was incomparable. So not hate at all, just truth. But even Brian May recognized this as the greatest he'd ever hear, and I suppose that says it all.
That an artist has difficulty with a song doesn’t poorly color him; that he pushes on, works through or around his difficulty makes him someone to be respected.

A Night At The Opera was the first vinyl record I bought with my own money as a kid.... still a favorite and this tune a rare gem that I seldom hear anywhere but my own turntable. This song brings out the progressive rock roots of Queen, but they truly danced around definitions and boundaries. So much better than the state of pop rock today.
THIS is my favorite non-"hit" Queen song, and I would venture to say that THIS is the best this song has EVER been performed live by ANY band, period. - Freddy was the King (Queen?), but live he only ever improvised and interpreted the recorded version that I fell in love with all those years ago. Their live performances of it were very special, like all Queen's live performances, but this is a particularly special song to me that brings back very intense memories of friends that I hung out with in college, partying and grooving on this song. - So, to see and hear this rendition, so faithful to the original, performed live like this _really_ touches my soul. - Thank you Marc & TQE for sharing your extremely special gifts here!
Queen still offers Queen Extravaganza's live concert at London Hammersmith for sale. It is a double cd with the first being A Night At The Opera from beginning to end performed flawlessly, then the second cd is the greatest hits of Queen. You would be HARD pressed to tell the difference from Queen except the recording quality is better BY FAR than all the old Queen live albums. AND Roger Taylor himself says that QUEX plays the music better and more perfectly than Queen ever did. So, you are in good company. Freddie truly is irreplaceable as a performer, but Martel's voice does what many thought could never be done, a close approximation of Freddie. I love their work, and hope they will someday return to the USA after having toured England 3 times, Australia and Europe for the past 4 years. Brian May agrees with you. After hearing this song live in London, he said he would never again hear the Prophet's Song performed to that degree of excellence.
Marc Martel. He sang with Downhere, a Christian band from Canada from 1999 to 2011. They won MANY awards, but never fame or money. As the band members began getting married and having kids they took a break. Marc tried out for Queen's official tribute band, Queen Extravaganza, and won of course. Yes he sounds and looks like Freddie, but his voice is unique in that he can sing ALBUM Freddie night after night. Not even Freddie could do that. But of course, Freddie's drinking and smoking and nodules probably didn't help is vocal chords. Search Queen Extravaganza, Marc Martel or Downhere. I highly recommend Marc's "Mercurotti" video, and 90's cover series videos. His 2015 album, Impersonator, is also awesome Muse meets Queen and Jeff Buckley type music.
Excellent performance as always from Marc! Freddies smiling from heaven and telling Brian and Roger to make Marc Martel Queen +s Frontman in time for the Bohemian Rhapsody film.
My favorite song live when Freddie did it. White Man and the Prophet song. Amazing. Marc was singing in parts of Bohemian Rhapsody movie. Not sure what parts

So good that more and more real good coverbands keep good music alive.
Thank You!
Brian May agrees with you. After hearing this song live in London, he said he would never again hear the Prophet's Song performed to that degree of excellence.
amazing cover!
bravo......!!!!
That’s absolutely spectacle as good as Freddie’s version.
Truly amazing! Both Marc and the musicians!
Simplemente GRANDIOSO !!💖
Who is this guy? He sounds so much like Freddie it's scary.
Sounds and looks like
@Great King Rat you need to buy a set of ears.
Great King Rat I know you don’t like the film Bohemian Rhapsody but aren’t you happy that the younger generations are getting introduced to Queen.
Great King Rat Yeah but it’s not like younger generations are gonna be actively seeking out Queen.
Just saw him Aug. 11th this man can bring tears to your eyes. Unbelievable💖
Rest Peacefully Freddie...
Marc's got your back...
Very respectfully

My favorite song live when Freddie did it. White Man and the Prophet song. Amazing. Marc was singing in parts of Bohemian Rhapsody movie. Not sure what parts
Thanks for not overlooking this masterpiece and for including it in your repertoire!
Not even Queen performed it so perfectly.
Oh my God... who can do this song like this LIVE?!! I'm speachless.
Queen never could. Even Brian May was impressed and tweated it out when he saw them in concert.
