So many people tell me they don't care for daylilies, and I always tell them I agree with them. I don't care for many of the varieties which have lost the classic lily vibe. However, I really love the ones that have the classic lily shape and simple color schemes with good garden performance. I've been working on breeding my own too. The part of me that hates them gets joy from culling the ones I don't like, and the part of me that loves them gets joy from the select few seedlings I keep to grow on in the garden. :)
That looks like a good ole Frans Hal to me. I still have one in my garden; it's over 30 years old. I have around 75 varieties of hemerocallis now and I'm at the "one in, one out" stage now lol I've gotten fussier about things like strong scapes that don't flop over... I like a thicker leaf... dormants over evergreens. But some EV are surprisingly hearty. Love my daylilies ☺

I like the Frans Hals. I don't think I've seen that one before. Thx for all the good info you share.
I have Frans Hall and a good plant. Nice to see old varieties! I also have many Siloam bred varieties that were bred in the southern USA.
As interesting as ever and I may have to break my self imposed plant ban for that last beauty. Thank you.
These plants are outstanding. What size or pot are you using, please?
