Totally off subject but I just wanna say thank you for all you do with these videos. After watching almost all of them and struggling for hours I finally was able to get a knife shaving sharp. Even though it was a struggle I have really enjoyed the whole process of learning and it has turned into a form of relaxation for me.
I have identical 187 DP (down to the scale color). The socket screws are 7/64" and the pivots screws are #14 spanners. It appears the spanners are non-standard dimension. I first tried Irwin Hanson #14 spanner bits, but they were too fat to fit the holes. Vega brand (available on Amazon) spanners, which have slightly thinner posts, worked perfectly.
That's not the worst I have seen. Mastro Livi a few years ago put in a term that if you ever honed the straight razor he made it is out of warranty. "Mastro Livi's freehand razors are previously checked by Mastro Livi himself, to then be delivered to the buyer ready for use and do not require any type of sharpening. If any type of tampering is carried out, by means of abrasive stones or pastes, which involves damage to the razor's edge, the warranty is void." Meanwhile, he sells loom strops charged with crox...
good info...depending on the steel, several applications of 'gun blue' will help cure lock stick and doesn't rub off very quick, if at all...have a good one...
Thanks for doing this video. I have a couple of Medfords, and although I usually disassemble my knives and lubricate them, I have not found it necessary with these so far. They both became really smooth after about 2 weeks of break-in. Medford says he uses marine grease for the pivot and as a result the knife can just be washed with soap and water and blown out. Do you have any experience using that kind of grease?
Medford makes excellent slicers, extremely thin behind the edge. It would be nice to see them produce a few thicker hard use knives to appeal to the working man.
Crichael Misty umm Medford don’t make a slicer the thinnest blade they have is the slim midi and it’s still thick. These are hard use thick chunky blades
Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening it’s all about thickness behind the edge. My Praetorian is .010” bte and is a great slicer. It’s a lot thinner than most Spyderco’s (.020” bte). Blade stock thickness doesn’t matter with most edc tasks. Now inside the kitchen is a different story.
Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening thinner a knife is bte, the better and easier it cuts. That’s a fact. That’s why it matters. I’m not quoting. I took the measurements with my calipers. 😂
Hey man, just wanted to let you know that your live chat stopped letting messages go through tonight, so we weren't ignoring you, just couldn't say anything, lol

Brad Sanders awesome! I’m very happy to hear that

I sold that knife long ago. Wish I still had it.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's knife" But a guy can always look.....🧐
PeaceCountryBoy right!
Howdy Buddy! I wish I could afford a Medford! They seem to be good knives.
Jeff Smith they are pretty nice. I won’t pay what they cost. I traded into it.

Get you some pipe cleaners. They work well in funny areas. You can bend and form them to your needs
Charlie Martin I have some just never use them
Thank the lord he finally changed his policy and you can disassemble your knives now.
Really??

You know, it's pathetic that some of you actually quote stats like that. Who cares.... A edged tool is made to cut. That's it

I thought the body screws were torx
They are, but they are a size that you can't purchase. I tried every torx bit I could find, and none fit it.
That is a beast of a knife but the warranty is a pile of donkey crap it makes people lives unnecessarily irritating
aidan wyman I know right

That's centered to you? Way off. I have had 4 187dp, and 187F and every ones centered perfectly.
TylerDD as a matter of fact it’s dead on.
