I found you need a wider opening for these fountain because the spray pattern , especially with a little breeze, you will find you have to refill your container frequently

Yeah the wind will carry the stream unless it's a fairly large container.

This went to my parents so I wouldn't honestly know but I have a solar panel like it here that's going strong many months later, the pump however of course I cannot be certain, sorry.

Is there an extension for the chord connecting the panel to the pump?

There is a 3m or 6m cord but it would be available by contacting the seller on Amazon, not sure it can be bought otherwise though.

Sorry, it went to my grandmother or mother so I don't know the situation. I don't even know if they really put it to use or stuck it in a closet somewhere.
