this book is my favorite magic book and i have quite a collection of books in my library. it goes beyond the effect. ben’s style is one that sets him way apart from anyone else. i highly recommend this book. it is small in size but enormous in what you get.
David, thank you very much for doing this review. All of your reviews are beyond excellent -very honest, interesting and insightful. I have had this book of Ben’s for quite a while now and it is terrific - one of my very favorite books. You’re right - it reads like a novel and that makes it intriguing to go through. You get to enjoy learning the secrets and plotting and scheming for how to scalp your next layman victim! You feel like you are right there watching Ben demo the effect. I really like keeping Lucky Deal and Let’s Triumph current because they are FASDIU items which can be done at a moment’s notice with a borrowed and, for all practical purposes, shuffled deck (the minor set up for Lucky Deal can be done during a previous trick). Thanks again for making this very enjoyable clip! Also, if you don’t mind sharing, where did you get that T-shirt with the King of Spades showing up inside the outline of the State of Texas? I live in West Texas and would really appreciation knowing where I can go to get one of those. Thanks and take care!
David you saved my day ... for weeks I've been asked what I want as Birthday gift ... I threw every other wish into the bin for that one ... the only problem might be that now I have to wait for some weeks 😅
@@magicorthodoxy was it the flashing lights in the promo video? They were making me quite ill, and I'm wondering if they might not be an epilepsy risk.
@@magicorthodoxy That sucks to here, but thanks for fixing it, because I had the video on watch later but couldn't find it. Really grateful for you re-uploading the video.
I think I’ve lost it!i could of sworn I saw this review earlier and even commented!Still looks like an interesting book and great review.Cheers. I will keep taking the tablets.🥴
Sorry to say but for once I completely disgaree, David. To me, this book was entirely empty: empty of ideas, empty of inspiration and on many pages, literally empty (of content. About 25% of the book seems to be white space or pretentious - but in reality fairly vacuous pictures). It did make me start to wonder if we've all got Ben Earl wrong. Instead of being this great outside-the-box thinker he's just a bloke with a degree in psychology who's good at magic but amazing at presenting the character of Ben Earl as some genius deep thinking "I'm actually very different to all other magicians" performer. Which in itself would be interesting if we didn't have, oh I don't know, the entire fields of postmodernism, post-structuralism etc etc. To anyone thinking of buying: do so only if you either love the character of Ben Earl, spending cash needlessly, or simply want a book - any book - to fill out your magic library. It's worth checking out what Propdog had to say on Fbook.
