I think Assassins Creed was guaranteed to go this route. It’s hard to make a game about Assassins. The Assassins or Hashashins were created during the Middle Ages and were centered in modern day Iran and Syria. The thing is it’s hard to make a game set in Ancient Egypt while trying to connect it to something hundreds of years later while still trying to be historically accurate.
Altaïr is easily my favorite assassin. If you read The Secret Crusade, it sheds light on how Altaïr became who he is. From an orphaned child to an arrogant and cocky assassin to him finally admitting to his mistakes and wisening up to who he is. From his downfall to his redemption as he slowly learns of the true meaning of the creed. He really changed more than any assassin from the assassination of his father, Umar's execution, to his lonely and sad death under Masyaf's library after he says farewell to his son Darim. Really touching and interesting story.
Yea. where Altair has weapons like Crossbow from the trailer... maybe the developers didn't have much since it's the first game or not consistent with history-based weapons like is there a crossbow at that time? so when a Remastered Version is release he should at least have weapons that is consistent with the trailer and supports him to be the best assassin of their Order during that time... so I can say that both Ezio and Altair are at the same level by real AC story... I'm currently playing AC Brotherhood btw.
John Ace Actually yeah, the Crossbow was removed from the game because of historical errors, since at the 3rd crussade time, no such weapon existed. At least it's not like Brotherhood, were there's the metal gear box thing. It didn't exist in that era, it was just an easter egg, but to meet up with Leonardo Ezio literally interacted with the box, creating a monumental historical failure.
Stuart Pot correction, the crossbow did actually exist since the time of B.C. , and by the 12th century (which is when ac1 was based) the crossbow had become a common weapon in the battlefield.

wooosh bait it is not though. As someone who has played all the Assassins Creed games, this is my favorite. I love it so much because I just find Middle Eastern history (Islamic and Pre Islamic) much more interesting than any other era in history. The settings leave me in awe till this day.
Killzone 2, Assassins Creed, Gears of War... i remember that era. It was the beginning of the ps3/360/Wii era. Games where about to change into something more powerful than ever. The hype was way bigger than anything today.
Even if he had one game (not counting revelations) Altair is my favorite, he's the one who started it all, the Legendary Master Assassin, ezio is great, but not as great as the one who started it all, if ezio looks up to him then we should too.
Being Palestinian, and playing this game... as a kid, it really connected with me. Im not exactly the most knowledgeable person on history but this game def helped my imagination run wild with the Templar Knights. I knew I'd fall in love with Jerusalem but I was surprised at how much i liked the other cities like Damascus and Acre. As a muslim palestinian it was refreshing to see an american game that represented the ethnicities and religions present at the time, since most people assume it's just a muslim country being fought over by jews and muslims. Its much, much more than that. It's the Fertile Crescent, a magical part of the world where everything and everyone intersect. Being able to play as an assassin and wander the cities will always be something I cherish!!! Im hoping they remaster this legendary game. We need AC2 mechanics and new AC graphics and this game could potentially be one of the best games of all time.

I love it. The moment that follows an assassination in this game... the ringing of the bells, the terror in the city, the guards searching for you... what a great atmosphere this game had.
To this day, it gives me chills. The ominous atmosphere combined with the dreary vibe and setting is stunning. I think the first game of the series doesn't get the credit it deserves, as it was the foundation of this incredible series which brought great memories to many people. Sadly the franchise has spiralled into a cesspit of greed, and no longer receives love from the fanbase (fairly enough) or even from Ubisoft itself. Despite that, we can look fondly at the old games as we sink into nostalgia. Have a good day!
Guys, I have an insane theory that might be too good to be true. Notice how Ubisoft has remastered every AC game from the 7th gen consoles, from the Ezio trilogy to Rogue and now we’re getting AC3 coming on March 2019. There has to be a reason to why they’re doing this. I think they could be saving AC1 as the best for last. So maybe they’re gonna surprise the hell out of us by coming out with an AC1 *REMAKE* just like Resident Evil 2. That HAS to be it!
Definitely needs a remake, especially with how far the franchise has gone through these years. Environment-wise, probably won't mind seeing everything in one single giant map like what Origins and Odyssey did with the landscape. But gameplay-wise, probably something from the Kenway Saga or Unity which fits more in being an Assassin because I hate to say it, the gameplay from the Ezio trilogy is not that great, especially compared to later games.
@@darthva31 Hell no. Fuck off. Keep the combat as it is. This game is the best in the franchise for many reasons, and combat is one of them. This is the most challenging AC game. The rest are far too easy. In every AC game but the first, I don't think I've ever died one single time. I just breeze through the whole story with no challenge. The first one actually forces you to time your attacks and counters. If they remake this game with some other AC game's combat system, it'll be a worthless pile of shit.
To me this almost feels timeless, the setting, the feeling, the overall introduction to the character, feels so surreal to me and I love every moment of it, I really hope they remake this game at some point. Altair deserves it!

After so many replays...After 14 years... I found Altaír at 0:23 and 0:26 seconds... He is peeking inside the first tower of the left wall. He is like a presence in every second of this trailer.
+SouthernSniper74 The reason the there is no Crossbow in Assassin's Creed one is because Ubisoft realized that the crossbow wasn't used the third crusade it was an uncommon weapon in Europe and the middle east
i don't trust ubisoft to not fuck it up. as much as i love the ezio trilogy, ac1 is the only game in the franchise that challenged me to stop and watch the guards' and crowds' patterns so i could pull of my mission without being noticed. of course ac1 isn't without its problems, and there's certainly merit to multiple paths to victory that the sequels employed...but i really miss the heavy stealth focus that made me FEEL like i was an Assassin inside the story, and not just a person playing a video game.
Originally, the game included a crossbow for ranged attacks, but Ubisoft had this removed to make the game more challenging, as test gamers favored the ranged attacks over melee combat.
We got the hidden blade, distance attack, leap of faith, fleeing a combat, air assassination, hiding among the people, hiding among the religious, parkour and probably more showcased in ONE SINGLE TRAILER, genius ubisoft
They even got the Animus in there, at the very beginning of the trailer you can see the loading bar as it's rewinding through memories. The flickering and static throughout the trailer also hints at it.
I love everything about this trailer, but I especially love how you can actually find Altair in the crowd of priests(?) after he "dissappears"... That is if you know what to look for. It's super quick too but is a really nice touch.
I remember watching this trailer for the first time. You have to remember the time in which it was released, when 1080 HDTVs were finally becoming affordable, Blu Ray just came out (2006), surround sound systems also becoming affordable, PS3 was a tremendously noticeable upgrade from PS2, PC gaming was hitting an all-time high in popularity with high def monitors and beefed up systems that were light years ahead of the PS, XBox, and Nintendo video game consoles.... and then you had this masterpiece, coming out on PS3, the clarity, the sound, the detail..... Awesome!!!
Ubisoft really rocked my teenage years, from Assassin's Creed 1 to Assassin's Creed 4. I used to wear my hoodie all the time in high school to imitate Ezio and Altair lol. These games helped shape my personality. I grew up in an ultra-religious Muslim family and the credo "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" and the pages of Altair's Codex really made me think and doubt about my own convictions and what we take for granted without any proof. When a video game makes you doubt about your ideas and convictions, it's nothing other than art. Today, Ubisoft has become yet another soulless video game company, devoured by wokism and shareholder expectations, destroyed by their own success. The day Ubisoft died, a part of me died too. I can't thank enough the developers of the first games that brought me so many moments of happiness and critical awareness.. I will forever love you for it and miss you.
If Ubisoft remastered this game and passed it off as the assassins creed game for the year, I would be a hell of a lot happier than I was with that disappointment of a game you call unity, that boxed wine style Rogue, and even Pirate Warfare. As good as a game Black Flag was, you can never beat the first two no matter how hard you tried
+the lord of langers I think an AC1 Remastered would be better because without it mistakes like repetition AC1 would be a perfect game. And the atmosphere is perfect for an Assassin's Creed game, with the different places of the Holy Land.
the whole color grading in the first one.. those cool colors and everything made it feel sooo more immersive to me.. it felt visually better than even the new ones
When ps3 and Xbox 360 first came out and they dropped this new style of gaming Assassins Creed was the first game I played on either console. I ended up becoming a massive fan of the series. Currently playing Valhalla.
Loved that game. I got it the it came out, I just got out of the hospital from a bull riding injury and was going to be home recovering for a few weeks. I gave my credit card to my girlfriend and she came home with an Xbox and a stack of games. This was one of them, I played non stop.
The thing I liked about first Assassin's Creed is that it's so much connected to the real Assassin's order. Rashid ad-din Sinan (Al Mualim) was one of the original founder of Assassin's order in Masyaf also known as the old man of the mountains. Masyaf castle still exists till this day.
I love the ending where u can bearly see him as he blends in it's such a cool touch like in brotherhood the guards looking around and in 2s trailer more guards come in to see what happened
Anyone else adores this AC trailer the most? I notice many call the AC Revelations trailer the best and while it is amazing indeed and one of the top, imo but I always preferred AC 1 trailer and I always felt it was certainly the best of AC trailers. The darker style in the trailer and those hanged people and the greyish color theme and how detailed and true to the game every action in the trailer was. I just prefer this style than what things slowly evolved to later on through the years and seems nowadays, graphics and flashy animations are the main focus in most trailers and games todays. I say old games had more..spirit? They felt more lively eventhough their graphics were lower and tech involved in making them was lower back then yet it feels as if some of their developers' souls were spent making them and you can feel that in every detail in many of those amazing classics like AC 1. That sort of dedication I feel is lacking big time when we talk about most games nowadays. Is it only me who feels this way? :/
most good IP's start off very good and made with love and a vision and set art style and aesthetic and take themselves more serious, the original infinityward team that made cod4 were later fired from activision, just shows you how fast the a corporation will rob you for your good idea and use it for all they can get and sell you memories
Crossbows were very much a thing in the 12th century and were used during the Third Crusade by both Christian and Muslim forces, although not as much by the latter. I just randomly looked for some battles in the Third Crusade on Wikipedia: Battle of Jaffa (1192) "The King again showed his personal bravery and martial prowess, leading fifty-four knights, a few hundred infantrymen, and about 2,000 Genoese and Pisan crossbowmen into battle" Siege of Acre (1189-1191) "The Crusader army lay in between, with lightly armed crossbowmen in the first line and the heavy cavalry in second." Battle of Arsuf (1191) "The outermost ranks of the infantry were composed of crossbowmen." And from "World History Encyclopedia": "European armies throughout the Crusades were a mix of heavily armoured knights, light cavalry, bowmen, crossbowmen, slingers, and regular infantry armed with spears, swords, axes, maces and any other weapon of choice." and "In the Muslim armies, there were units of cavalry, which could include mounted archers, and infantry armed with spears, crossbows or bows and protected most often by a circular shield."
I like how they packed every signature thing in this one trailer. Who’s back here after Shadows? Gosh, I was 19 when this was released in 2007 & at the time, this trailer & the actual game was about the most mind blowing thing I’d ever seen from a video game. Hands down one of the best protagonist game characters ever. AC1 is the OG & still best in the series by a country mile
First one - best one.
Nomad The gen wunner of the Assassin's Creed series. 😂
Really not he is my fav bc i love altaïr and the crusade are one of my favorite moment in history but you have to admit that this game is crap
@@love2fight205 same for pokemon xD the gen 3 remaster are my fav tho
wooosh bait it is not though. As someone who has played all the Assassins Creed games, this is my favorite. I love it so much because I just find Middle Eastern history (Islamic and Pre Islamic) much more interesting than any other era in history. The settings leave me in awe till this day.
Not at All. For me AC 1 was more crapy then Odyssey.
For those who didn't notice, Altair lacks the ring finger to accommodate the hidden blade (1:13).
And that is the main reason he is the most badass assassin of them all imo.
same with Bayek.
Jesus thanks man
wait he doesnt have a ring finger...holy shit
it become tradition to to truly dedicate yourself to the cause of the creed
Killzone 2, Assassins Creed, Gears of War... i remember that era. It was the beginning of the ps3/360/Wii era. Games where about to change into something more powerful than ever. The hype was way bigger than anything today.
The trailers definition were insane even by today. The quality and story writing.
About time they remastered this one. There was just something about the atmosphere of the first game that was incredible
Even if he had one game (not counting revelations) Altair is my favorite, he's the one who started it all, the Legendary Master Assassin, ezio is great, but not as great as the one who started it all, if ezio looks up to him then we should too.
I think he had three. Assassin's Creed? Bloodlines, and a mobile
@@drewabbott6993 yes
He is not the one who started it he only saved it.

I absolutely love the first AC. Absolute gold and still is.
It’s one of those rare gems in gaming history that can always be played and still be fun no matter how many decades pass. The graphics are amazing for it’s time too
I love how the bell rings when people die (sometimes)
Welcome to Ubisoft
Maybe..
One can only wish. "Safety and Peace be upon you."
Decent theory, I'd like to see how this game would be with the new mechanics they've developed over the years.
Who is here after seeing the trailer of the new viking game? :/

nothing further from reality, you said it well "Vikings game" because Assassin's Creed no longer... sad but true.

AC should be put to rest...
Arthur Batun well ac4 is pretty much a pirate game and everyone loves that
@@flavius5539 No fuck that, they turned the first civilization into Gods, that's bullshit, there are countless things in the old games that explecity tell that they were not gods and they did not have any super natural thing other than their technology, even fucking Bayek sees thru this in dead Faros DLC when he says that the "underworld" that he visited was an illusion form the fragments.

Assassin's creed 1: we remove Crossbow because its historical inaccurate
Assassin's Creed Origins,Odyssey,Valhalla: we can burst flames out of our swords and arrows out of nowhere.
I tried playing Odyssey.... played for a couple of hours and said, "I'll turn it off for now and play more tomorrow." Never played it again.
The crossbow was historical accurate, Richard Lionheart himself died of one. It was removed, because it would make the game too easy
@@beornkhan2736 They certainly changed their minds once they introduced pistols.
After so many replays...After 14 years... I found Altaír at 0:23 and 0:26 seconds... He is peeking inside the first tower of the left wall. He is like a presence in every second of this trailer.
No burning horse or skeleton bird, just a man living the moment
Still No Crossbow.......Probably One of the Best of the Series though
***** Yes. BAck then before the series nuked the fridge.
+SouthernSniper74 The reason the there is no Crossbow in Assassin's Creed one is because Ubisoft realized that the crossbow wasn't used the third crusade it was an uncommon weapon in Europe and the middle east
catcrehsr no this is not the reason the real reason is that ubisoft treatises that the crossbow wasn't even invented in the time of this game
The crossbow was invented. Or it was a uncommen weapon or they just were not able to make it work in the game.
Apparently it made the game too easy so it was taken out

They need to remaster this one because honestly I miss this assassins creed the best one in my opinion
i don't trust ubisoft to not fuck it up. as much as i love the ezio trilogy, ac1 is the only game in the franchise that challenged me to stop and watch the guards' and crowds' patterns so i could pull of my mission without being noticed.
of course ac1 isn't without its problems, and there's certainly merit to multiple paths to victory that the sequels employed...but i really miss the heavy stealth focus that made me FEEL like i was an Assassin inside the story, and not just a person playing a video game.
This is the only one in the series, that did not get a remaster. Maybe because is different instead of the latest AC ?
Altaïr is THE BEST Assassin EVER! The original one!
:)
Facts
Or you can say he was the Reformer.
I was 12 playing this now I am 23 and dam how time flies I miss being a gamer and a kid 😭😭
No micro transactions, no level up systems, just you my old friend
Originally, the game included a crossbow for ranged attacks, but Ubisoft had this removed to make the game more challenging, as test gamers favored the ranged attacks over melee combat.
But they brought it back in AC2. 😭
Still such an amazing trailer. Altaïr is still my favorite Assassin and AC1 is still one of my favorites in the series.
Awesome!!!

I loved the kinda creepy vibe this trailer had. It really painted the assassins as something to be feared
Bring me back to those times :(
At the very last second you can see him sneak up to one of the templars and pull out the hidden blade again. He wasn't retreating. Insane detail.

Nah.
I like it more actually.
@@octavianmihu7861 yes the simplicity for when simpler is really better
I like it the most
Ubisoft really rocked my teenage years, from Assassin's Creed 1 to Assassin's Creed 4.
Back when Assassin's creed was actually good.
+Matt DeMaria TRUE, SO TRUE ;( :( im crying :D
I'd prefer an ac 2 or brotherhood remake
+the lord of langers I think an AC1 Remastered would be better because without it mistakes like repetition AC1 would be a perfect game.
And the atmosphere is perfect for an Assassin's Creed game, with the different places of the Holy Land.
Matt DeMaria
Rouge was actually pretty good

Even after 10 years, this trailer is the best ever trailer in the AC Universe.
The beginning of a hero and a legend.
Damn I love that classic assassins hood. Altairs by far the coolest
I know this game isn't perfect but still this is one of the greatest games I've ever played.
I love the ending where u can bearly see him as he blends in it's such a cool touch like in brotherhood the guards looking around and in 2s trailer more guards come in to see what happened
That aerial kill is crazy altair looks like a beast pouncing on prey

I love this trailer and all but I think Revelations wins by a landslide, for a game trailer it is a masterpiece.
1:43 I love how Altaïr just casually walks away in the far left like: *"yep, I definitely didn't just kill someone in broad daylight"*
2007: we decided to remove Altair’s crossbow because it wasn’t historically accurate
2022: MAGICAL LASER GO BRRRRRR
Crossbows were very much a thing in the 12th century and were used during the Third Crusade by both Christian and Muslim forces, although not as much by the latter.
I just randomly looked for some battles in the Third Crusade on Wikipedia:
Battle of Jaffa (1192)
"The King again showed his personal bravery and martial prowess, leading fifty-four knights, a few hundred infantrymen, and about 2,000 Genoese and Pisan crossbowmen into battle"
Siege of Acre (1189-1191)
"The Crusader army lay in between, with lightly armed crossbowmen in the first line and the heavy cavalry in second."
Battle of Arsuf (1191)
"The outermost ranks of the infantry were composed of crossbowmen."
And from "World History Encyclopedia":
"European armies throughout the Crusades were a mix of heavily armoured knights, light cavalry, bowmen, crossbowmen, slingers, and regular infantry armed with spears, swords, axes, maces and any other weapon of choice." and "In the Muslim armies, there were units of cavalry, which could include mounted archers, and infantry armed with spears, crossbows or bows and protected most often by a circular shield."
