I owned the 2018 Subaru Impreza from new and clocked up 155,00 km. It was time to upgrade so after looking at all the hatchback cars available, came back to the new 2024 Impreza. It is a very different vehicle that the previous generation, much more sophisticated, and lot of added safety tech, and I am finding, more performance. I had pretty much decided to buy a WRX, but when it came down to it, why pay a lot of money for performance I was never going to use? So with the Impreza I have many of the styling and equipment features of the WRX, and I am finding more than enough performance to keep me happy. It is a good durable every day car, but I think there are sufficient sporty qualities to have fun on our north Auckland rural roads. The only real negative with the car so far is that there is a lot more road noise which will be coming from those low profile Yokohama tyres. I don't know why they have gone to low profile tyres when the previous 17" wheels with the 50% profile tyres worked so well. I may end up swapping my tyres for a quieter tyre. But that is the only real negative. Overall the new Impreza is a very nice car and hard to beat with all the new safety systems and the all wheel drive.

Subaru is known for its boxer engines. Saying you don’t know what a horizontally opposed engine is fine but “that you don’t care” gives a very distasteful impression in a review of a car which makes great use of the characteristics from the boxer engine layout

Thanks for watching and comments, it's Dave's attempt at humour. He dies know about boxer engines and cares immensely about their significance. CVT's on the other hand...

The logo isn't new. It's the same logo since forever.

Cracking review ! Car looks a bit dull when compared to the old school, wild rally versions though. Wonder how it will look when properly kitted up - so happy to see the Impreza still going strong :)

Thanks, really appreciate the positive feedback. Overall it's a tamer version of the old Impreza, looks have matured and acceleration is less snappy. But agree, great to see the nameplate continue.
