I love this realistic college decisions video. When I was applying to college, I used to BINGE these kinds of videos and my expectations were let's just say not met lol. I'm a Hispanic first-gen student w a weighted GPA of 4.8, an associates degree, and over 2 years of work experience in local non-profit organizations. So, I totally thought id get into at least some T20 schools but that did not happen lol. It just goes to show how insane the college application is and I'm grateful that you posted the reality of it. Also, I totally believe that rejection is direction, and everyone will end up in a place where they will thrive in :). Like I recently committed to American University, and I couldn't be happier!! Congrats on getting into UNC!

I resonated with your experience because my high school isn't particularly competitive and has never sent anyone to an Ivy let alone a t20. That said, I was also rejected from most of my schools and ivies. It's crushing to get rejected from our top choices, however, I think it's important for us to know that we will shine brightly no matter where we end up. Congrats on UNC once again. I'm sure you will do wonders there.

You have a great attitude. Frankly this was the toughest admissions reaction video I have seen. It takes tremendous maturity to post a video with a lot of rejections. I want the lnext round of applicants to see this and understand that this is what your admissions decisions are supposed to look like. That may sound odd but let me explain. Only a tiny number of applicants are going to have the “I got into 4 Ivy Leagues and Stanford” experience you see on RUclips. You should be reaching high and taking realistic if improbable shots. That means the rejections will come. If they don’t, you didn’t reach high enough. That hurts but you only need one for the process to be a success. Like Sheldon, you can get that one big acceptance. UNC is a great school and I would be very proud to be admitted there. Best of luck!

Congrats, UNC is a huge achievement! It was my son’s only rejection. Out of state acceptance is tough. He got into Tulane, University of Miami and Duke (plus 5 others), waitlisted at RICE. You applied to so many! Must have been crazy doing all those applications.

He had very good extracurriculars and awards. However, course rigor, SAT, and gpa were not as top tier. I’m thinking that is why he had trouble getting into some of these schools.
Yes I agree with this. I only took 10 aps (most of which were senior year) my junior year course rigor wasn't there, no test score, and 3.78ish UW gpa were not to par. I am thinking that this was my trouble as well...
