Just bought the black label at a store. I didn't see the red one there only the black. Id like the red one because although the black is good, it is def not hot and more of a sweet sauce. I put hot sauce on everything so i have to try the red.

Got a bottle of the "hotter" Truff sauce. Barely any heat. Even with just a small amount the Truffle flavor is way too strong. It overpowers everything. Maybe I just don't like truffle? Wierd cus I literally will eat anything and enjoy it. Wasted like 16$ on a bottle of this... Hoping I can give it away to someone who may appreciate it. Disgusting stuff. Even the smell.

I enjoy the truffle flavor, even though it's flavoring and not real black truffles. The company should be sued for advertising this as hot sauce. It's not hot, and there's no pepper flavor.

I just bought a bottle of the red "hotter" sauce but I haven't tried it or any Truff products yet. I was surprised at the price as it must've gone down. At Publix it only cost $9.99. Red was the only flavor they carried. I don't know how it will be but it does seem to actually have real truffle in it. The 2nd ingredient is "Black Truffle (Tuber Melanosporum)." Then the 3rd ingredient is "Olive Oil Infused with Black Truffle Essence." So I'm guessing it has both real truffle and that the "essence" is basically truffle oil mixed with olive oil. The truffle itself is listed as a more prominent ingredient than the truffle oil as well so I'm guessing that's a good thing. The first ingredient is basically a blend of a bunch of ingredients though. "TRUFF Chili Blend (Red Chili Peppers, Water, Vinegar, Organic Sugar, Garlic & Salt)." So it seems to have more real truffle than "truffle essence" but at the same time have less truffle than salt. So by doing the math on the sodium one bottle has 1,540mg. That would mean there is a maximum of 1.54 grams or about a gram and a half of real truffle in each bottle and then some truffle oil probably in there too. So it's definitely less than 1% truffle in the bottle as the bottle weighs 170 grams. As far as them being sued or whatever for calling it hot sauce if it doesn't end up being hot I would guess you can legally call anything hot sauce even if it only has 1 scoville unit. Even 1 unit would technically be "hotter" than zero units. Other ingredients are "Red Chili Peppers" "Red Habañero Powder" & "Spices." So I'm sure they have their bases covered when it comes to that. I've had Taco Bell Hot Sauce and it isn't hot to me at all. Even the "Fire" and "Diablo" sauces aren't hot. I'm hoping this at least beats those out. I wanted to try the White Truffle sauce but they didn't carry it at Publix so I got the red. I'm sort of glad I got the red though because I have heard multiple say that TRUFF really isn't that hot. If anyone is looking for a more economical hot sauce I strongly suggest Valentina's. The Extra Hot black label is the best but the regular Hot yellow label is still a very good backup option. It has a lot of flavor and if you use a ton of it it can get pretty hot but it's not like some of these ridiculous sauces like "Dave's Special Reserve Ultimate Insanity Sauce" or anything. I think some of those sauces are more like a novelty for people to show off how much they can handle the heat or to trick unassuming people into trying it. I tried some of that Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce when I was a little kid. There was nothing even remotely enjoyable about it. It had zero flavor at all and even the smallest amount would totally ruin an entire meal for 99% of the human population. I have watched multiple fully grown men cry for half an hour straight after barely dabbing a toothpick on their tongue that just had a little bit of that stuff on it. To me the most important things about hot sauce are:
#1. That it has a lot of good flavor that pairs well with but is totally independent of the heat.
#2. That it does in fact have enough heat. When your like Taco Bell and you have a Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot, Fire and Diablo at least one if not 2,3 or 4 of those should be too hot for 80% of the population to handle. Mild should be somewhat weak but if you really do enjoy hot sauce at least the Diablo flavor should seem adequate. I really don't get the point of having 6 different levels of hot sauce if none of them are going to be hot. If someone finds Diablo too hot they can always go to a weaker sauce like mild. But for people who find Diablo sauce nowhere close to hot enough like myself we are just out of luck. I always have to absolutely drench my taco in it with several packets and still come out halfway disappointed in the heat level.
#3. That the hot sauce isn't so overpoweringly hot that even the smallest amount will ruin a meal. I like to have the flavor and heat to enhance meals. Not have the sauce be the entire focal point of the meal. It seems a lot of these more recent brands of hot sauce are more for people who enjoy just the heat because it gives them an endorfin rush or something and don't care about flavor at all. It always sucks when you have a nice meal and you taste the sauce first with a toothpick but then you can't even enjoy the meal because the sample of the sauce alone feels like you burned your tongue off. So it's kind of a balance between too weak and too hot. Most are too weak but the few that are too hot seem to be WAY too hot.
#4. I guess the last part would be ingredients. I would prefer natural ingredients whenever possible. I'll also throw price per ounce in there too. I'd feel dumb paying a ton for a bottle if there's a better sauce available for less money.
Valentina's is probably my #1 choice because it has incredible flavor and the black label is just the right amount of heat for me. If that's too hot for anyone then the yellow label is great too. As far as I can tell if you don't like the yellow label Valentina it's because you just don't like hot sauce. It's also much cheaper than TRUFF even though the bottle is more than twice as big. A lesser known but decent backup brand to Valentina I would say is Louisiana Gold. It's not quite hot enough for me. It's not even as hot as standard Tabasco. I like Louisiana Gold much more than Tabasco though because it has WAY more flavor. There's a restaurant I go to and I love to order the clam chowder and then pour Louisiana Gold in there until it turns pink. That stuff has so much more flavor than Tabasco that I will choose it instead every time. The restaurant I know that carries it is Ted's Montana Grill. So if you're ever there I would recommend trying it and if you can handle Tabasco don't be afraid of it because it's not even that hot.
Anyway... Thanks for reading what ended up being a dissertation about Hot Sauce! I hope this information ended up being useful to someone. I also hope this red label "Hotter" flavor of TRUFF is good.

@@URaggedybetch How is scorpion pepper sauce? I always hear of that and "ghost pepper" and "dragon pepper" and at this point they are creating so many different hybrid peppers that it's really difficult to tell them apart when it comes to sauce. In sauce the ingredients vary so much and a sauce with a hotter pepper can be weaker than a sauce with a less hot pepper from my experience.
