Actually, even McCartney didn’t understand all the negative press about the film having seen it for this release and thinking it didn’t show them at each other’s throats as history has portrayed the “Get Back” sessions as. I do believe that they want to release it when people can actually go to the theatres.

John Caulfield i haven’t watched the “Let It Be” documentary in some time so I don’t remember all that went on there, but I do know that McCartney recently has said that he was afraid to watch the “Get Back” sessions again because people had said how unhappy they all were in it, and that he was surprised that it wasn’t as bad as everyone has said. But this could be McCartney trying to sell the movie so people won’t be turned off by it. We’ll just have to wait and see. However, I do also know that the first filming occurred in a big sound stage and that it was empty and cold and the Beatles couldn’t get their groove going in it so they moved to a smaller and warmer studio and that’s when I think they got along better.

Paul McCartney's first instrument was a trumpet. He has often quoted that he learned how to play 'When The Saints Go Marching In'. He traded in the trumpet for his first guitar.
I didn't know that. The first song I learned on guitar was the same.
I heard it was drums Paulie learned first. Maybe Billy learned trumpet first and is tired of pretending?

What a shame that Astrid, such a great icon from The Beatles era, has passed away. She was an immense influence, opening the boys' eyes to another fresh way of seeing things and she never seemed to lose her freshness and honesty.

other associated stuff will be equally delayed. I splashed out for the deluxe Sgt Peppers reissue, but can't justify the equivalent for Flaming Pie! I'm excited to hear thoughts around features for other influential people associated with the Beatles. There's not enough visual material in this respect & their influence is often very underrated! If I ever decided to Rack n Stack Paul’s solo albums...I could probably, safely place Flaming Pie in MY Top 5. I emphasize the word “My”...not being critical of anybody else’s tastes. Paul’s catalog is vast and there are some really strong albums he made over a long career

The truth is there are practically NO Beatle insiders that go back to the Hamburg days alive anymore - even Ringo wasn't a Beatle back then so it's basically Paul, Pete & Ringo in order of seniority. I don't count Okay Yoney or Pattie because they weren't "insiders" from Hamburg days and wives despite that chewing gum that stuck to John generally didn't hang at studios or on the road.....Next skin on the onion close to them back then I presume would be Klaus. There are probably more Pre-Hamburg Quarry Men still alive - I count at least 4 still kicking!! 🎸
If the Let it Be music box set was always planned to coincide with the new Get Back documentary, then it would have been announced on March 11 when the film's release date was announced. No reason they wouldn't have used that opportunity to promote the music release at the same time. Because of that, my guess is a LIB 50th anniversary edition was ALWAYS planned for the holidays 2020 (originally that would have put it coming out a few months after the new documentary which would have served as a great "commercial" for the music). Now with the film being delayed, all bets are off. But because I don't think the film and music releases were intended to coincide (different projects, different names and marketing imagery surely), so it's still possible LIB 50th comes out in December this year. The original LIB is a soundtrack to the 1970 film. To use it to promote a brand new documentary with a different name and different footage (also some different songs most likely) would be a weird thing. IMHO.
I just hopped onto Amazon and saw there's also a 2 CD version of the remastered Flaming Pie, with 21 demos and home recordings, for $16.99. I think I can swing that :-)
Agree with you. I only collect the Beatles deluxe box sets. That's why I passed on John's Imagine. Keeping my money for all the Let It Be/Get Back stuff

Real Beatle fans know Paul played trumpet before he picked up a guitar. His Dad bought him one when he was young and he took lessons. But, as Paul said on the Anthology, it wasn’t long till he realized he couldn’t sing “with that thing in his mouth” lol
Wasn't he technically a piano player first? He said that after a while his dad couldn't anymore and he had to play and that the older ladies would sometimes drink a little too much. Not sure if this was before or after the trumpet.

I'll have to pass on this new "collector's" edition. I've been through all the Beatles records since the days of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and then some. And like you said after collecting so many collector's and premium items, in the end they just collect dust. BTW my favorite Paul album is "Ram".

The standard box set is the way to go. Easily found for less than $200 on websites not called Amazon. Never enough box sets to me. Bring them on!
I popped for the Archive box minus the vinyl. That I can do now, but if there are anniversary sets for George’s ATMP and/or JL/POB, they’re right out!

Good video- Thanks. The prices for the deluxe editions are unreasonably high. I have the original release, and will probably buy the 2-cd version. The Concorde deluxe editions were cheaper, and since Paul moved back to Capitol, prices seem to have gone up.
SMH...only UMG would put up a fuss about allowing the public and the fans of the greatest band ever to hear a lost recording.

Not the best news but thanks for the update. I’m the last person who should be able to afford any deluxe albums however I try to save up for all of the ones I really love and know I will get a lot of use out of. They definitely are collecting more finger prints than dust lol. Flaming Pie is my favorite McCartney album and is actually the album that got me into Paul’s solo stuff. The collectors edition is not worth it in my opinion because basically all you’re getting is a couple more photos and a 12inch single. If one wanted to they could buy the 3 LP Set and the deluxe for literally half the price of collectors and have virtually the same content. I personally preordered the deluxe edition (not collectors) from a site called BullMoose.com for 198 dollars no tax and free shipping. I’d say that’s a pretty good deal if you’re interested. Thankfully with the entire Beatles Get Back project delayed I do have a little more money to spend on albums like Flaming Pie.
So far I have only ordered the 2 cd versions of the Archive releases. These are more than sufficient. I have though bought the Super Deluxe Cd versions of Pepper, White and Abbey Road. Will do the same for Get back/let it Be.

My guess? Economics. They knew Pepper would be a slam dunk, so they started there. After it sold well, we got WA, AR, and now we'll almost certainly get LiB. Maybe we'll see "*60th* anniversary" editions for some of the others?

My first album I ever bought was Sgt.. Peppers on Apple records in 1972 as an 8 year old at a Kmart in Fresno California. Plus I bought "A Hard Days Night" 45 single on that same purchase. Through the years I have bought new"Ringo Starr, George Harrison, John Lennon & Paul McCartney singles and albums, 8 track, reel to reel, cassette and CD'S plus all the Beatles album catalog on Capitol records, Mexican Capitol records, UK EMI-Parlophone...plus the other 3000+ original singles and albums at used record flee markets, Salvation Army stores, Thrift shops....but I have NOT bought any post physical media since the Anthology & BBC releases in the mid 90's! I guess I just don't care, overdosed, prices too high??? Instead I have bought many Gibson's, Fender, PRS electric and acoustic guitars and 40+ Marshall, Fender, Blackstar amps! I l LOVE Beatle music and all that is related but I just can't and justify $600+ for a "Flaming Pie" limited collection!

The Beatles was supposed to release an album entitled "Sessions" in 1976. What has happened to that album?.😰😰
"Sessions" came out as a bootleg LP in the 80s complete with cover art & liner notes. All of its tracks were eventually issued on the "Anthology" collection.
I believe Sessions was originally supposed to be released in 1985 before being scrapped (I think after being vetoed by the band), and its songs were reused for the Anthologies.
I cant wait for Next year to Watch the Beatles Let it Be Documentary and the Peter Jackson Beatles Documentary!!! The Beatles Let it Be Documentary will complete my Beatles movie set since i have the other 4 movies and the Anthology Documentary!!

It's true. I've had the Sgt Pepper box set since forst day of release. and it's not like I obsessively play the whole thing every week. I still get into it, but not as rabidly as I did the first weekend it was delivered. The same goes for all of these items I drool over. They're great and I'm glad I have them, but it's not all I listen to overall. Flaming Pie, I'm getting the 3-LP set (I got rid of my 1997 LP when I needed the cash , which is one of my regrets. I still have the 1997 CD which I'll hang onto.

My friend I'm going to be broke for awhile not only with the "Flaming Pie" box set but also the Prince "Sign Of The Times" box set(yep I'm getting the 12 vinyl version for that one). So maybe it's a blessing in disguise that the "Let It Be" box set release is being withheld till next year.

I get your point, but that makes the most sense when talking about an album that has seen multiple releases: mono, stereo, remixed, remastered, etc. Pepper might fall into this category. Unless I’m missing something, Flaming Pie has only seen one release. Besides, I would think most people would only want this collection for the B-sides, demos, etc., not for the slightly tweaked mastering. And those you can’t anywhere else. (Now... is that worth $200-600? Ugh. Depends on the buyer, I guess.)
@@FabFourArchivist And what I have found over the years whether it be the Beatles or any classic band is that the rare demos and outtakes are rare for a good reason and it usually ain't a 'good one' On the case of remastering. I always find it amusing as it suggests the original Masterer did a crap job? I am a sound engineer and I can tell you 95% of these new Masterings are a gimmick and not worth buying and in some cases make the finished product worse. Lovin the channel Bud, can't wait for more!

I still think my CD from 1997 sounds fine enough, even played back to back with Egypt Station. Flaming Pie was Paul’s best since Wings, but his releases since and including Chaos... have truly been masterpieces that only keep getting better.
I will never recover from the film being delayed A YEAR. Devastated.
I know. I knooooooow. I really thought they were going to throw it on Disney+ (a là Hamilton), but I guess they're so invested that a big screen, big release is the only way to go.
@@FabFourArchivist This is a huge pain in the ass and I'm pissed about it, too, but I can see where this is better off seen for the first time in the theater, then it can be streamed and put on a disc. However, somehow, I get the feeling that if another studio had won rights of distribution, that the release date would stay the same. I think this is just a milk-it job by Disney and that's what's pissing me off the most. "Want it? Want it? NO NO Gotta WAIT...."

Flaming Pie? No thanks. What happened to London Town or Back To The Egg? And the last box set I bought, Wings Over America, came with hi resolution download cards that were a big part of my interest in the box set. Unfortunately the download never worked, with a web error coming up. The McCartney website forum master could not help, and this affected many purchasers Who also could not download. Their stories on the McCartney forum. Emails to the labels and management have gone unanswered. It’s actually quite fraudulent, it they're advertising the hi res downloads. Paul, I’m disappointed.
I will never spend more than around $80 for a deluxe set of a single album. I don't need the swag. Just the music. Tull releases boxed sets for $40 why can't Paul or The Beatles. And the Get Back movie better be 25 hours long at least.

This news is airtight. Variety wrote their story based off of a report by Disney (the distributor). Aaaaand the Variety writer was the same guy who broke the news of the preview a while back. He’s legit.

The folks with deep pockets will hoard the 3k collection Editions. and then they'll be sold on EBAY for maybe 1 k a piece. Do not ever underestimate the millions fo folks with deep pockets. $600 for them, is less than a penny for us ordinary folks;-)

Same here. Way to expensive for this first generation fan. I have the regular release from the 90s and the dvd that came out at the time. Ive got some of the b sides. Nothin that great there. Same with the radio show. Its not worth the money. Im getting tired of waiting for the Beatles film too. I have boots from the laser disc. Nothing great there and the jams Ive heard on bootleg are not that great. It wasn't the best month in their short history.
Ill probably just copy it from a friend or wait to get it used someday. Im tired of making rich people richer lol.
