Hal has said the will not exceed the highest salary cap level or threshold. Soto will demand and probably get a record FA salary. If Yankees aggressively pursue Soto they run the risk of losing out and missing out on other very good FA. IMO the lowest risk option to improve the club is to sign quality starting pitchers and possibly a closer. Then look to trade young, quality pitchers like Schmidt and even Gill, if they can get high quality, young proven lefty hitters who can play defense.
The Yankees need a closer. They also need a first baseman, third baseman. A left fielder so the need a lot of help. Soto is good but he wants a lot of money. The off-season should be interesting.
Do you bother to look at payrolls or owner tendencies? Steve Cohen is always the highest bidder, Hal Steinbrenner wasn't even the highest bidder for Aaron Judge. Hal always wants people to take a pinstripe discount. So tell me who is going to outbid Steve Cohen?
It's not as if they're all set and just looking to add a couple of players to supplement the roster, they have quite a few guys eligible for FA and if they don't get resigned they're looking at several holes that need to be filled.
@@bruce5402 I'll let Hal speak for himself, just remember this, he will want Soto to take a pinstripe discount and it's not going to happen and guys like you were going to be disappointed.
Soto should get 13 years at 50 million..He should not top Ohtani bc as well all know Ohtani is potentially an All Star P as well and Soto’s defense isn’t great…
This list is God awful your just picking the same teams over and over you don't have the rangers doing anything? Hardly doubt that respectfully this is gonna be the worst free agency prediction all off-season
This is my Yankees to do list: 1. Resign Juan Soto to his big money contract and resign Gerrit Cole back 2. Sign Devin Williams for a 4 to 5 year contract at $80 million to $110 million to be our closer 3. Get Roki Sasaki over from Japan and get him on a minor league deal for our Triple A team and when he turns 25 years old get him on a fresh MLB contract for the Yankees 4. Sign Jose Leclerc and Carl Edwards Jr. both of them for 2 or 3 year contracts to help with our bullpen 5. Call up the following players from the minors to the major leagues Spencer Jones T.J. Rumfield Bailey Dees Ben Shields Trent Sellers and Anthony Hall Subtract off the Yankees roster or use them as trade candidates: Clarke Schmidt Mark Leiter Jr. Trent Grisham Jose Trevino Jon Berti Yoendrys Gomez I don’t really care much about the pitching market or the hitting market in free agency this year all that much because of how extremely risky the players ages are on the list and the reason why I pick Spencer Jones to be called up to the majors is because he has the type of power surge in his bat that I have interest in the reason why I would like to see T.J. Rumfield in the majors is because he had stellar numbers in Triple A in 2024 and he’s entitled to the first base position/job in 2025 and the reason why I picked Bailey Dees is because he reminds me of a young Jake Peavy and he would make a wonderful addition to our starting pitching Ben Shields and Trent Sellers I really like what they display as pitchers that’s the type of blood and energy we need for pitchers as well
You don't have the mets getting anyone huh? well, as a mets fan, I agree with you. I think we will mostly get bums again this offseason. That's just how Sterns works. Unfortunately I don't see it working out this time.
@161riverave.4 I'm looking it up. Either Wardynym or SNY. They were talking about the Offer the Mets made for Soto. Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and Ronnie Mauricio. He's the modern Chipper Jones at CIti.
the yankee bias is crazy delu delu. very low chance yankees get all those players or even keep soto. yankees wont be willing to pay anywhere close to what other teams will be willing to pay
So, a team with $180M coming off the payroll and the richest owner in the league is only going to sign their own homegrown FA? You seem to always say the Mets wouldn't sign Soto because they need pitching.... And yet, here you have them not signing one arm. I know the thought of Soto in Queens is sickening, but to try and pretend it's not even possible is delusional.
You’re forgetting the trade market. And they usually don’t pitchers to long term deals over 30y old. No one is pretending it’s not possible. Delusional is fans already wearing Soto Mets jerseys.
@161riverave.4 I'm not saying Soto is going to sign in Queens. There are only 3, maybe 4 teams that can realistically be in on him. In this scenario you played out, the Mets spend 15% of that $180M they will have "available". I'd be interested in who you'd have the team acquiring to spend the other 85% of those funds, and who'd be on the move. Trade prediction video upcoming maybe?
@161riverave.4 I'm not saying the Mets sign Soto. I'm just curious as to how you feel, after signing Alonso,(we'll generously say $25M)they would spend remaining capital on the trade market. I'm sure they'd much rather spend $$ than use in house organizational assets. Maybe an off-season trade prediction video is in the cards?

And the Yankees wait till everyone is gone before they pick anybody

Ty 4 all ur sports updates 💯
I say Soto lands in SF. Desperately need a star to compete with L.A & S.D. Tons of money and see it happening.
Marakumi to Yankees love the channel man
I appreciate you bro
@ also check this out 2 years ago marakumi said he would love to play for the Yankees and then he signed an extension
@ that’s right! He knew he wouldn’t be posted until this year so it made sense////
If Soto leaves I’d suggest targeting Alonso as a secondary power bat with judge

@ronk... some discount for Judge...SMH...Hal is a good owner. Cohen totally unproven with his spending. Stop dishing Hal please, that is freaking easy

Corbin burnes is going to the dodgers
Mets are signing Soto and Alonso/C Walker. Soto has said for years how he would love to hit at Citi Field. Also would love to see Sevy And Manea back.
Who told you that???
@161riverave.4 I'm looking it up. Either Wardynym or SNY. They were talking about the Offer the Mets made for Soto.
Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and Ronnie Mauricio.
He's the modern Chipper Jones at CIti.
The Braves are healthy they are best team
The Yankees could be interested in Kim
Wacha stayed with the Royals
Murakami won't be posted until after 2025. Love to get his for either 3B or 1B.
That’s Roki Sazaki. Murakami is eligible in Feb 2025
@161riverave.4 That is great to know. Hopefully they can sign him. Everything that I had seen was after the 2025 season.
Murakami could be a very good player over here, wouldn't mind the Yanks getting him. Not sure how he is defensively
NPB posting window opens around November 1st and closes around December 15. So Murakami won’t be able to posted in 2024 offseason as a 25 year old.

Maybe the Yankees bring back Holmes as a setup guy they really like him
No Primadonna's please.
Like who?
Already wrong. KC already extended Wacha for 3 yrs
Murakami won’t be posted until after the 2025 season so his earliest MLB season will 2026
