Hamas was indeed our creation. The idea was that as long as Hamas is in power and vow to destroy Israel, peace and a two state solution could never be achieved. We thought we could prolong this state of affair until the end of days. We didn't however expect a surprise attack on the scale we have seen on Oct 7th. People are thinking we wanted the attack to happen to justify beginning a genocide campaign in Gaza which is simply isn't true. It might be happening now but we didn't plan for it to happen.
