The bigger question I have about the last stages is, wouldn’t killing Crash just make an alternative timeline branching off of the original, therefore not touching the one Crash already lives in and to a greater extent trapping Neo Cortex in a a different timeline?

As someone who died 120 times in Cortex Castle, and over a 150 times in the one where you first got a game over, I'm very happy I never even tried retro mode.
I was on retro mode and it took me an hour and a half to beat it the first time I also had around 60 lives and got a game over in it The rest of the game was quite balanced though Really hard but didn't give me any game overs
I love Crash 4. I beat the game on retro mode, then went back and I'm currently getting all gems and tapes on modern mode. I did that because it's gonna take me dying a bunch of times to do all that

Crash 3 was definitely one of the best for nostalgia reasons. The level design was fun and more maneuverable than crash 2 but crash 2 was infinitely more difficult
Frogger had a really cool GBA advance game that was basically a Zelda like with cool abilities and stuff. I spent a ton of my time as a kid just loving it.
Loved watching you try it. I managed to get Perfect Relics on every single level in Crash 4 so not too much incentive to go back so it was really fun watching you. Before Crash 4 came out I made it a goal to 100% Mario 64 hoping to prepare myself for it. I’m one for completing everything before moving onto the next level kinda gamer, so I relate in your frustration in thinking you did well but finding out you missed boxes lol. I've finally got my own hands of a copy of Crash 4, went straight to retro with no hesitation. I hit 99 lives by the time I hit the fantasy-esque area, and I have not drop my lives below 80 outside of the Polar Bear level where you chase Cortex. And that was only because that one controls like ass and I kept missing the boxes so I kept dying on purpose. I can already tell getting a platinum trophy in this game is going to be a HUGE pain in the ass. So I'm just... gonna not get that. Get every other trophy and admire the rest of the game with positivity, not rage. I don't have the bloody patience to torture myself like that. Froggers 2 swampys revenge, I've been looking everywhere for it recently. Couple weeks ago was lucky enough to find a ps1 for sale at a local second hand store that came with a controller and happened to have crash bandicoot still inside for $25. Been playing that, frustrated and delighted lol, and almost through. I guess it depends on how you view time travel. I would agree with your interpretation since I feel like the timeline you're in can't really be changed as trying to do so just creates a different one that you don't live in. But killing Crash could also just create a paradox if the timeline they're in does actually change. Cortex would stop himself from creating Crash which in turn would lead to there being no version of Cortex that stopped himself from creating Crash so Crash would still be created which loops back around to all the games happening and so on.
No. There's literally nothing to suggest a new timeline would be created. Even if there was, Cortex could still capture Kupuna-Wa again. And as the ending shows, Cortex doesn't care if he's trapped somewhere.

This game has multiple realities and timelines. I assumed that meant that the other games don't exist in the It's About Time reality, but not necessarily in the others. Tawna is from a reality/timeline where Crash and Coco die. Plus, there are references to the other games all over the place. For just one example, the fridge with the letter magnets that spell "Crunch."
