    Nice video giving a general overview. I think overall cost of ownership is more important than Ticket price. Which would probably indicates Tesla is the better option? Also build quality...see Sandy Monroe.

      Yep, I agree. I always work out long term cost when I buy stuff, and whilst I could have got a cheaper combustion car second hand, if I was buying new, I still think the Tesla wins

    When have you ever charged at 170kW? 🤔 They just don’t get there. Unlike the E-Tron 55 which reaches 150kW easy and sits there. For me, unless its an E-Tron 55 then I’m not buying any other model other than a Tesla. The mere fact Tesla superchargers are so good is just one reason for me as I cannot charge it at home. So I need fast charging and Tesla just wipes the floor with all others apart from the E-Tron, which charges faster and more consistently at a higher rate than the Tesla does. Good info! Thanks 😃👍🏻

    • @TeslaTorque
      @TeslaTorque  3 года назад +1

      I tried in my supercharger video, but I think maxed out about 125kW (spoiler alert 😂) , but from all the comments, you basically have to be around the 10% to achieve that 170kW and pretty much perfect weather conditions. I arrived with I think 20% charge or there abouts. It will be interesting to see how the charging situation changes over the next few years, as if you can achieve achieve the rates advertised it would be so quick!

    • @cbromley562
      @cbromley562 3 года назад +1

      @@TeslaTorque Yes, you need the version 3 charger, and a nice warmish battery at around 10% charge (typical of an average journey), and the car accepts 170 kw (250 kw for LR and performance), for a long enough period to make it very worth-while.
      On the version 2 chargers, we normally start at around 135 kWh, which then slowly ramps down as the battery nears full. (For most journeys we charge to around 70% to 80%, which usually amounts to 10/15 mins to 35 mins at the charger...45/50 mins for a large ‘long-hop’ charge).

    Just ordered a new Model 3 Long Range this week with your referral code. Can't wait to use the free Supercharger miles on a trip to Southern France in the summer! :-)

    Although ID3 and ID4 should have been a great competition they fall way short with the quality of the interior, a lot of cheap plastics. They also messed up with using capacitive controls for the radio volume etc which are very old-tech and dreadful to use (dry fingers - no chance in getting it to respond). Then there was the electronics, but that is getting sorted, but there is still a problem of 12V battery drain as there is no top-up when the EV is parked and off.
    Like others, although I have an Tesla M-3 LR, I am hoping that Kia and Hyundai new cars EV6 and ionic 5 will be good, they look great, though a little short on economy and apparently in real life they are actually quite big SUV's; oh no not another SUV.
    Finally, if people want a no-nonsense small EV then look at a Renault Zoe - good range on the largest battery - great efficiency and with a good starting price and lots of second hand examples.

      The Ioniq 5 is the standout here. Has quite a few features that Tesla Model 3 does not (display in front of steering wheel, HUD, reverse power charging, almost certainly better quality, switches for frequently used functions). Time will tell.
      Seems to have caught a lot of attention and should be available Q2 or Q3.

    I do not think they begin to compete with the whole Tesla experience tbh. Tesla for me still a long way ahead in EV's. Also some of those will depreciate at 2x the rate of a Tesla.

    • @TeslaTorque

    • @TeslaTorque

      Yep, I'm wondering if they are making a loss, as I think some of these are pretty good prices, considering how high EVs use to historically be priced. I imagine when Tesla's new battery tech comes into the market, their ranges will jump quite drastically again. I'll be intrigued to see the price point of the Model Y when it launches.

    ID3/4 and MachE are epic yawn. Dull inferior copies of the Tesla. The Hyundai Ionic 5 looks awesome. Individual styling, great tech, and a lot of original features that the Tesla doesn't have. Nissan and Skoda another yawn. Seat going for the young trendy look, could be ok for that market.
    So basically no choice except to buy a Tesla, or wait a year to see if the Hyundai is worth buying.
    On buying a 2nd hand Model 3... good luck with that. Here in France the 2nd hand version is more expensive than new! That's because when you buy a new EV here you get a €7k rebate (€1k for used). I'm better off buying an in-inventory Tesla off their site for €37k and getting the rebate meaning it costs €30k.
    Oh and if buying 2nd hand you should look at the ID3. It's been so catastrophic that something like 50% of new ID3s are on the 2nd hand market a year later. I got that off the "bestintesla" RUclips channel so you might want to take it with a pinch of salt. However a quick check of the Autoscout web site for

    • @TeslaTorque
      @TeslaTorque  3 года назад +1

      Great comments Phillip, that’s crazy that second hand is more expensive, but great for those that bought new, considering how much they normally depreciate.
      In the UK they are between 35-37k generally.
      I think the fact that a lot of IDs were built, then sat in a car park in the open for 6 months whilst VW sorted out their software issues wouldn’t have helped.
      I think the Ioniq has hints of Alfa with its design. Looks different.
      it will be interesting to see how VW do with the ID5, which I think is out in December, as that will be the closest competitor to the Model 3 from them.
