    Really enjoying your videos Jay. I have been following them since day one and while my backpacking is usually no more than a week at a time, I do enjoy seeing someone show what it's like to live this way for what seems to me to be a really long time. I'm sure it's not easy all the work to carry the gear and make these videos but I do appreciate it. Keep going and hello from Canada.

    Oh my gosh Jay & Tina, this was one of the most intense nail biting videos you have posted!!! You both look great, however, Jay, I noticed early on that your breathing seemed more labored; but you all made it through. You & Tina are amazing. During your scrambles, I was thinking that some leather gloves would have been very helpful. So, I’m glad you mentioned that for the benefit of hikers yet to experience that section. You both are still recovering, so please stay mindful, not to over do it. I pray that you all will continue to recover, and we are all rooting for y’all!!!!!🙏🏾🙂

    It was awesome running into you on the trail today. Sorry for the funny look! I had just been telling my day hiking partners how I follow a guy's AT hike on YT and there you were an hour later. A bizarre moment.
    Keep up the great work! Such a massive accomplishment. Enjoy Maine!

    I'm glad you both had fun going through the Notch! I hope to one day do it- I think the closest I've gotten to that kind of scramble was Old Rag and I was very glad to only have my day pack for that one. It's a mental challenge too!

    Precisely the reason I’m hiking the PCT first, to get into condition to hike the AT. Thanks for the trouble you go to, videoing your hike. Kentucky

    • @papajeff5486
      @papajeff5486 2 года назад

      # S M, One can do the PCT by horse. That means it’s level enough and no climbing, 4 point hiking. If I can do it first, then I should be in better physical condition, ready to do the AT. Kentucky

    • @pocketrocket5938
      @pocketrocket5938 2 года назад

      @S M I think the AT is a great first trail as you have so many town options and the trail prepares you somewhat for the harder sections.

  • @4potslite169
    @4potslite169 2 года назад +1

    I can’t believe you filmed as much as you did! Great job!!! I only managed about 5 miles the day I went through…and it took me most of the day! It’s pretty hard for us shorter gals w less upper body strength, but I felt really good about succeeding and figured if I could do that without killing myself (or slipping and breaking an ankle or knocking out my teeth) then I was finally an “experienced” backpacker! I slept like the dead that night! (And could hardly move for an hour the next morning LOL!!!) As Itchy Boots says…”If you want to win epic battles, you have to expect epic battle scars!”

    I was told to get cheap knee pads from Walmart before hiking that section. I so appreciate you filming this area. I now have a very good idea of the terrain! Wow, y'all did fantastic. Guess I need to carry alcohol and bandaids for this part as well. Tina you did fabulous.. love the idea of cushioned bike pants LOL. Sorta reminds me of being young and thinking about putting a pillow in my pants before I got a spanking.

    It appeared that whoever set the trail threw that section had to have a lot of sadism in them or liked a real challenge. I keep wounder who brought & installed all those boards up there for the walkway. Every hiker using the walkway owes them a vote of Thanks. Well that covered the Good ( boards ) and the Bad ( The rock crawling ) so for the Ugly ( mud ). That wraps it up , folks. lol

  • @chrishastings9926

    Question: Do you think a moderately experienced hiker could make it through this mile? Or should it only be taken on by highly experienced hikers? Not for the faint of heart indeed. You're the second video I've seen going through the notch. The other one took off their pack through a couple holes. As you know climbing out isn't easy either over the arm. Now that you've made it through here, the rest is less challenging, so you have this! Stay safe, happy trails, and thanks for the journey my friends.

    • @Yetithruhikes
      @Yetithruhikes 2 года назад +2

      This mile of the Mahoosuc notch is like an amusement park. No need to make it scary. It's just a flat dense bolder tunnel. Take your time in there and have fun. I saw kids doing it so I'm sure you can do it as well. It took me an hour to cross including a few minutes to relax inside to get away from the heat. It's cold and brizzy!
