Losing Dan is so awful but Trixie growing up without her father is just the worst.
The performances on this show are among the best.
I remember when I started season 1 that I thought he was just going to be the jerk ex. But then he told Chloe about his crimes and also turned himself in m for stealing evidence. After that, Dan wasn’t perfect, but he was a decent guy. He made rash, dumb mistakes here and there, but wanted to be better. So many people decide that there is nothing they need to change. “I am who I am.” But Dan really grew on me. He was willing to admit his mistakes. He was willing to be humble. He was willing to grow from his mistakes and be better. In the end, he was was a genuinely good guy who you’d be happy to call your friend. I cried a lot when he died.

The thing that really stands out to me in this episode is Maze when she is killing this mercenaries. There is nothing flashy or fancy, no style, no moves perfected in hell. She went in there and slaughtered each and every one of them as quickly and efficiently as possible. This wasn't about showing off or being a badass like she usually is. This was entirely personal for her. The goal for her was vengeance.
exactly!!!! It may not be related at all but when she said to dan that she would not take a bullet for him and not in the chest anyway and then the last mercenary she killed was her literally ripping his chest!! just thought that was cool!

I didn't realize how attached I was to Dan until this episode. I couldn't stop crying. They all broke my heart during that hospital scene. 😭💔
The hospital scene hurt bad, but for me even worse was Lucifer and Ella holding hands and singing that duet. That absolutely shredded ne.
I think we're all like it's just a show it's just a show but damn are we invested in these characters :( what marvelous and heartbreaking performances these actors have given us

"my dear sweet child" that was the only time lucifer ever referred to Trixie like that. He always said smth like "deceptive little parasite" but now... He understood the pain she was going through and he was going through it too so he decided to refer to her the way he truly feels about her, like his own kid. Lucifer understood his feelings And hers. Once again we see how much his character has evolved from s1 when he didn't even think that he had any kind of feelings. Oof this show is just so amazing in every way. Also I'm really gonna miss dan...):

Trixi is also the only one who knew from the beginning that lucifer was the devil. It was never said, but in the musical episode her painted picture of Lucifer was the final proof for me. In addition, there is the fact that she was not scared of maze when she once showed her her demon face on halloween.

The whole time I was like wait no he’s gonna be fine, it’s fine!😭😭and then Trixie coming in and Chloe breaking down in the background😭I always sob at Charlottes death but at least she went to heaven but not poor Dan🥺 and the scene in 5A where he’s at her grave saying ‘the good news is your in heaven like ammenadiel said but the bad news is I don’t think I’m gonna be joining you’ LIKE COME ON LET THEM BE HAPPY TOGETHER IN HEAVEN AT LEAST 😭😭
I was in complete denial when it happened. I thought "c'mon, they're not killing him." When the hospital scene happened with Trixie and everyone else, I was holding my tears cause I still thought "They said he was 'gone', they didn't say he was 'dead'. He's got to be in a coma." When the funeral scene came along with the song and the Lucifer and Maze tag-team, it caught up to me. Dan's dead. He's *_really_* dead. I couldn't hold it in no more and I let it all out.

Imagine filming this episode... How hard it was for the all of actors... Especially Scarlett, who probably never had such a dramatic experience... But this girl get a pretty great dramatic talent...
I got spoilers about his death before I even started the season so I knew it was coming but I was so heartbroken watching everyone reactions especially Trixie's and the whole funeral. I honestly could not stop crying from when Chole found him until the end of the episode

I'm crying again seen you cry...Dan resolution to not die until he passed the Caleb information...oh god, such a strenght. The hospital scene with Trixie, I mean, Chlow knows what her daughter is going through cause she felt the same when her father got killed. The deckerstar conversation too, just hurts a lot, I mean, Lucifer still can't see that he is worthy of Chloe, he doesn't need to be God for that, but now he has to be God cause it's really unfair that Dan is in Hell.

I cried as much as you and that shows how much of a good actors they are and we are so attached to these characters that it affects us like it was happening in real life... that was the saddest episode

I bawled when Trixie came in but then I cried even harder when she begged Lucifer to tell her it wasn’t true and Chloe put her hand over her heart and went to the floor in the background 😭
Kevin Alejandro that plays Dan actually said that as it was the last season (at that time) could he be killed off as he wanted to do a death scene, then just after they filmed it they got told they had a sixth season so he thought he wouldn't be in S6, but they have a storyline for him and Dan will be seen in S6.
He is also directing a couple of episodes in Season 6.
Whoever become God, kan easy ressurect him or even make him semi celestial
I think that is why they introduced the whole “dan is in hell due to his guilt” situation that can be wrapped up in next season ..that pretty good thinking on their part.. it flows well with the story since dan always worried about ending up in hell

I got spoiled about someone dying in this season. I didn't know it was gonna be Dan but I had my suspetions. But that didn't stopped me from crying so so much when it happened. Crying to the point of losing my breath

Oh girl...I was screaming when they shot him. I had to pause SO MANY TIMES cause it hurt to see if he was actually dead. The hospital scene SHATTERED my soul. I cried so hard I gave myself a headache. This was the MOST PAINFUL and HEARTBREAKING death I’ve watched in a TV show. It’s been more than a week and I’m still grieving my boi Dan. I MISS HIM SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭

I've watched the whole show twice and 5 full reactions to all episodes and still cry every time I see Dan die. Cried with you too. We can so identify with Dan, I know I do.
I was so excited to hear that Rob Benedict (Chuck/God from Supernatural) was going to be in an episode of Lucifer. And then he went and broke my heart 💔
I'll admit, while I was shocked when Dan died, I didn't cry. But as soon as Trixie showed up... just hearing her say, off-screen, "Where's my dad?"... I started to break down. And the whole hospital scene just destroyed me. I cried at least 4 times from that point on to the end of the episode. If anyone deserves strong language, it's Michael: FUCK. MICHAEL. Dan didn't deserve that, and even more so, Trixie doesn't deserve this kind of pain 😭
I was crying the entire episode. I seriously didn't see it coming. All the signs were there, but I honestly didn't see it. But as much as I hated it, I loved how it motivated them all to fight. Lucifer was so hell-bent on making it a fair vote and convincing people the right way, but after Michael had Dan killed, he went to war with them. And Maze - omg Maze .. she really went all out for Dan, her loyalty is unmatched.
I usually never cry for an tv show. However emotional it may get I usually never shed a tear. That said I must admit that cried for this. Man this just got me so off guard.

The episode didn't really shock me. I've had this feeling since Dan's solo episode that he wouldn't survive the season. The twist that it doesn't end up in heaven was also clear to me at the same moment that the feeling arose. But I hoped that I was wrong. I didn't. So the episode probably didn't touch me in the way it should be. But it is also clear that Dan will return. And that's what makes me happy. With Charlotte there was no such hope.
17:12 Have you misunderstood. Lucifer doesn't want to become God so he can go to war against Michael. He has to go to war against Michael so that he can become God, to change the rules and to get Dan out of hell.
This and the Red Door episode on the same day, that's just a really sad coincidence 😢

In all honesty, I knew Dan was gonna die this season as soon as Michael tricked him into going back and seeing Lucifer's devil face. But it still got me a little teary-eyed! Especially when Trixie asked Lucifer to tell her it's not true!
This was cruel the whole season they were hinting at it. And messing with Dan and saved Eve. So when they got to this it was unbelievable! I am still waiting for them to go get him.
When 5B came out I had school so I was slowly working thru the eps during the school day. I wound up watching this one in my math class when we had a study hall. I was just sobbing as quietly as I could during everything so that was fun
There were so many hints in most of the new episodes that would lead up to this. Chloe's promise to Trixie that she & Dan would always be her parents. The fact that God DID explode Dan! In the musical episode Dan sings about going to Hell. Uh oh! And then there's the fact that we had such a heavy Dan focused episode that was completely nuts & he got into so much trouble but still always managed to push on. Not anymore.
I finally watched the second half of season 5 this weekend after season 6 was released, and my nose is still stuffy and my eyes are still red and puffy from all the crying I did watching this.
that mask marzakeen has is a reference in the comics she cant magicly hide her demon face so she wears a mask that covers half her face she wears it when ever she on earth it looks almost identical a white half side face mask that covers her demon face
Don't worry, I was crying just as hard. I was 95% sure Dan was going to be the major character killed off so I was expecting it but I just wasn't expecting it to be so brutal. I think Lucifer is going to be taking it harder than a lot of other people, and poor Amenadiel; his last conversation with Dan was a fight, and he'll always have that memory in his mind of walking out with anger. Something he can't take back. To know that Dan put in Amenadiel's police department application after the fact had just about broken him. Having lost my own dad, I understand Trixie's pain, even though I was grown at the time. It doesn't make the hurt any less. Lucifer loves Chloe and Trixie and after this, I'm betting he's going to attempt at being a more paternal figure in her life.

Unfortunately I had been spoiled about Dan’s death - ironically I saw that spoiler just before watching the “... Naked and Afraid” episode so I was expecting him to die in that episode.

This episode broke my heart 😭
There are interviews where the cast and writers talk about why Dan's story end this way, and its because so many people get pulled away when they are just now evolving and you just start to know them. Its the most emotional and realistic thing they could have done, and it hurts so much.
Amenadiel joining the police is going to be emotional and show racial issues, the same reason they had Chloe quit and to move from being a cop centered show to more of the supernatural for the final season.

I thought Dan would be gone after Season 1, likely sentenced to prison. I couldn't have imagined actually feeling bad that he was dead!
Obviously Chloe was hurt by Dan's death, and wasn't thinking logically. Lucifer not feeling worthy of Chloe's love wasn't *REALLY* why Dan died. That's as fallacious as Dan blaming Lucifer for Charlotte's death, supposedly over the identity of _"Sinnerman",_ when Cain mistakenly killed her trying to kill Amenadiel.
It doesn't follow that Lucifer feeling worthy of Chloe's love would have convinced him to let Michael become God by default!
This Episode broke my heart 💔 your reaction was much like mine., I was literally sobbing 😭 I hated that happening to Dan, he’s as you say, such a wonderful & funny character...and will be sorely missed but hey, it’s Lucifer 😈 after all, where anything can happen....so fingers crossed 🤞🤞 maybe we’ll get to see him again, let’s hope so ❣️🥳

I was pissed, because this episode was ruined for me by a video RUclips recommended to me from Entertainment Tonight - which I'm not subscribed to - which spoiled the outcome. They posted it a day after 5b was released, so of course I hadn't gotten to the second to last episode yet. Some people might have, but come on.
They posted a video that said something along the lines of (Spoiler) talks about their *death*; and then used a thumbnail of Dan dying in Chloe's arms! Like, are you kidding me?? Do they not know how spoiler warnings work?

Same here; that's the moment that broke me this season. Scarlett Estevez is one of best actors on the show, and obviously that's up against some serious competition. I've been consistently impressed with her performance since the first season, but in this episode, she _truly_ excelled. I doubt anyone could watch that scene without crying.

I Actually Cried
In normal circumstances i don't care about spoilers but this time the whole impact of this event was ruined for me because one of the youtube channels put in the thumbnail Dan's face and title like 'Kevin Alejandro about his death on the show (...)... so i knew he would die 2-3 episodes before i could catch up with the show myself. Im not angry, but i somehow felt robbed.
Same here man that thumbnail ruined it for me too . I was able to avoid all spoilers except for this big one 🤦♀️
even though i had a feeling like dan was going to die this season since beginning of 5b so i wasn’t really surprised or angry by the spoiler but i feel like it would have been more impactful on me had i not seen that damn spoiler
