ALSO around the same time that drivers license came out, Joshua was in the HOSPITAL with septic shock and a 30% chance of survival. I cannot imagine going through something like that on its own, let alone with the entire internet hating you at the same time.
@@neotechx6114 I get that but on another note , someone you know is in the hospital with 30% survival rate or something , that’s a serious matter , it doesn’t matter if it’s your ex
You two have managed to somehow address every single thing that I have been thinking about the last year concerning Joshua, and the public discourse around celebrity breakups in general. I am so sorry that you went through this Ryan, and sending best wishes for you going forward. No one deserves to be villainized in this way for being human and having a human break-up. THANK YOU to you both for speaking out regarding this. I appreciate you.
I agree. And I want to appreciate Ryan for being such a role model for young generation (me). My biggest dream is being an stage actor, it’s very inspiring that he is sending out messages that are not only limited to one category of content but how he access to sensitive and a variety of themes.
I LOVE how you worded this- these big drama celeb breakups kinda make people think that you always have to choose a side and that whoever's side you dont choose is automatically horrible
even before josh put out his 3 most recent songs, he sent a mass text to his fans telling saying: "anyone who sends hate on my 'behalf' is no fan of mine" and "all that I ask is you treat everyone with respect and love"
as someone who unintentionally hopped on the Jake/ Taylor thing, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I never went as extreme as the threats or anything, but I think I got caught up in the hoard mentality. Thank you for calling me out. And Thank you for urging me to do better going forward. 💕
I think at the end of the day, the most important thing that defines someone's character is their willingness to listen and grow when they've made mistakes. You've definitely shown in this situation that you have that ability :)
I’m really glad you addressed this! The things I read about Joshua on Twitter were really horrible, and it really made me question how much we dehumanize celebrities, and how sick our relationship with social media is. I’m so sorry you went through the same, hugs and best wishes for you onto the future! Thank you for doing this.
I get that all social media has some form of toxicity, but so far (from what I have seen) RUclips is balanced. There are those who are positive, wanting to be educated, and just want people to talk to and those who are hateful, spiteful, and toxic just because they can. I think Twitter needs to be taken down and start from scratch because that seems to be the main app that perpetuates this toxicity and hate. I keep seeing, on twitter, this has been said. On twitter, blah blah blah. What is it about Twitter where people come together and just spit out hate? I am not saying everyone on Twitter is mean. It just has gotten a bad reputation.
@TheSportsGuru thanks for explaining it on a way I could understand. It gave me a new perspective to think about. I like how you presented it as a digital ecosystem. That helped me comprehend your argument even further. I do agree that not everything about social media is bad. Maybe if we just stopped focusing on the bad things all of the time, we can focus on the good. Also, if we simply see that it is ok to disagree and have a conversation instead of thinking it is an attack on us personally, it would solve a lot of problems. We do need to acknowledge bad things sometimes, bur never focusing on the good is not right either. Balance.
Proof Samantha and Ryan deserve their platform and even bigger. While you guys have fun talking about lighthearted topics you guys also talk about real stuff. I admire both of your intelligence and strength
I don’t get how anyone could possibly be okay with sending others death threats or even just hating on someone in general. You never know what someone is truly going through. If only everyone was kind to one another and treated each other like they would want to be treated it would be a better world.
Hating men in the name of feminism isn’t feminism, it’s sexism. Thanks for always putting great content out there! I would love to watch you guys react to, or hear your thoughts on Bo Burnham’s latest special “Inside”. ❤️
Exactly! A lot of "feminists" have forgotten the true meaning of feminism and have twisted it into women being the victims and men being the perpetrators in every situation. It's so counterproductive to achieving equality. You can go through _or_ cause hardships regardless of gender.
Exactly, I’m for gender equality, but combatting sexism with sexism , just doesnt help anyone. While sexism towards women exists. We can’t ignore that sexism towards men exists, as well. And hate doesn’t help make the world a better place.
It actually falls into the category of "Hembrism" o hembrismo which is the Spanish and original concept, I hate how women supremacy often gets mistaken with feminism
@@fairyiess wanting people to be equal shouldn't be a political thing though. There are men and women on both sides, liberal and conservative. Equality should really be a bipartisan thing.
someone’s private experiences in a relationship does not invalidate their traumas. plain and simple. people need to start treating “celebrities” like actual people.
As someone who’s been in the Olivia Rodrigo fandom for a while. The fans who said those things about Joshua are nasty and I stay far away. The things people say for someone they don’t even know is…awful.
it’s weird how even now years after a breakup you still see comments on ryan’s posts regarding his previous relationship yet when he tries to address it they always come back with “why are you still talking about this 4+ years later” when the real question is why do you still care to begin with? they are the exact reason why stuff like this needs to be addressed. if you mind your own business instead of devoting your life to celebrity relationships, there would be no problem.
It makes me so sad that people treat others this way online (and in person). If you are sending death threats you need to take a good hard look at yourself.
This is the exact message that I believe EVERY PERSON needs to hear. I deeply value the way both of you critically think and approach difficult topics with nuance and compassion. Thank you for consistently showing up and speaking on topics that are not the easiest to talk about.
Ryan didn't deserve the hate he got. Joshua does not deserve the hate he is getting. No one deserves to get any hate for being vulnerable. Fans need to learn that these celebrities are actual human beings that have FEELINGS. How would you feel if you were getting death threats? They need to stop wrongly spinning lyrics or social media posts into rumors that are way out of proportion. To those fans that are saying men can't be r*ped, you need to wake up because you are clearly close-minded. Thank you Sam and Ryan for speaking up about this.
@@agardenwithfireblossoms a lot of it is because fans believe he cheated on her with Sabrina carpenter. There’s a lot of hints in her music video drivers license that make people assume it was her so both Josh and Sabrina started getting a lot of hate from fans of olivia
Sam and Ryan both really dropped the 🎤 in this video. I truly hope others take the time to sit and listen to this. I’m not sure if they’ll see this. But thank you for making a video on this important topic 💜.
Josh never deserved what he went through neither did Sabrina. They were both just processing their feelings through music and their feelings and experiences shouldn't be invalidated. They both deserve an apology from the world.
Out of complete honesty I never thought of both sides like that. I try not to be part of these "scandals" and I agree that people should NEVER be treated as if they are not cared for just because of a break up with someone "popular". Genuinely thank you for opening up my eyes to this situation. I really do hope this gets out there. People need to hear this.
TW: SA I have been trying to make a video like this since the EP came out, but could never find the right words. This video was exactly what I was trying to make. I was also a victim of SA, and the way y'all put this was not only powerful, but extremely validating. My experiences have been discounted so many times, and to see Ryan say things that I've been unable to find the right words for meant more to me than I could ever express. Thank you both for making this, and I hope everyone has a happy holiday season.
I'm so sorry for what you've been through, and how people have discounted it. I'm AFAB (but ftm trans) and just want to tell you as a """valid""" SA victim that your experience is valid too. The only thing that defines if you are a victim or not is if it happened to you, plain and simple. I hope that you continue to heal from what has happened, and that people listen to your story with love in their hearts and the open mind to listen to your experience as your own, not what they think it should be.
As someone who is friend's with many male survivors, the discourse around what Josh's ep was so disheartening cause all I could think about what was if my friend's were the targets of such threats. My heart goes out to both you and Joshua and may you both continue heal 💛💛💛 thank you for speaking about this so much!
haven't watched the video yet but YES I AGREE Joshua's songs broke my heart. People are so cruel. I also wish Oliva would say something, literally anything because it would make a difference
I applaud y’all for this video and honestly just keeping your composure during it. I’ve wanted to scream at everyone who’s been taking all of these things to the extremes. Even if your favorite celebrity’s exes are horrible, it does NOT MEAN and never mean you should send death threats or harass them
So happy someone is addressing this! I totally agree, and feel that it's so toxic that I feel like there is a pressure to pick one or the other (specifically with Olivia and Joshua). I almost feel like if I mention that I appreciate Olivia, Joshua and Sabrina's music to the wrong person/intense fan that it is supposed to also put shame on me for daring to not pick a side and hate the other. No one truly knows the whole story and both/everyone involved can still be right in what they're singing and be allowed to share their perspective without it being this bad.
Took the words out of my mouth. I am all for female empowerment but the silence of female artists like Olivia and Taylor is disturbing. When fans go overboard and they say nothing it makes them complicit. Speaking your truth is ok, but you have to be self aware enough to know your truth is not the only truth.
thank you for speaking out on this !! i always felt uncomfortable about conversations about public relationships and people taking sides because both people have their stories and reasons, so to completely dismiss the other seems immoral. Like I can never learn someone’s true nature from someone else’s account of them, so why should I have such a drastic opinion about them? Like I can’t even laugh at the meme culture cause these are real people were talking about ?? Also since when have death threats been the normal response to send these people and how are the senders not getting any repercussions??? Idk but thank you guys for opening this conversation because I never knew where the right place was to start. It’s such a personal topic being dramatized by the public that it feels so uncomfortable even to think about.
YES. this is so important. if i ever saw people going after ANY of my exes the way these men have i would IMMEDIATELY step in and shut it down. doesn’t matter what happened in the relationship. it’s the compassionate, HUMAN thing to do. thank you so much for your courage in sharing, ryan. much love to both of you 🤍
this topic makes me incredibly upset because of how little its talked about yet how incredibly important it is to do so, so THANK YOU for doing so. Ryan you are so brave to go out and not only talk about ur opinion but also ur experience, sending u a big hug and all my love. Thank u for using ur platarorm for this
as someone who used to be a livie and a jolivia, i completely agree. a few months after driver’s license and deja vu came out, i stopped being a livie because i was sick of all the toxic people in that fandom. and i was also disappointed that olivia hadn’t tried to control them. i’ve also realized that shipping real people is weird and disrespectful.
It's also important to note what Sam said at 15:50. Even though Joshua and Olivia have come out with music about each other and their relationship, what happened between them is fully none of our business. They don't owe us any information about anything, and to act like we know everything that went on between them enough to decide to hate one of them solely based on the infinitesimal fraction of their relationship we know about is ridiculous. We can be a little upset that things didn't go well for them, sure, but that should only be because we want what's best for them and we'd hoped that maybe that's what their relationship was. We should not be so bothered that we feel the need to go on social media and type out our personal opinion on the relationship between two people we don't even really know. Like Ryan said, it was uncomfortable for things like the ins and outs of the worst parts of his personal relationship to be public knowledge. Tacking on to that thousands of people believing it's their duty to tell him what they think of him when they have no clue what they're talking about must have been insanely hard to deal with.
This topic is a topic that needs to be talked about more. Great video of talking about it and using this platform to educate about theses topics as it’s happen to plenty of celebrities over the years.
Both of you are so incredibly well-spoken, and are able to perfectly adress the very real issues of today in such an intelligent, calm, yet strong manner. I wish more people had the same humane perspective as you, and I am so sorry for everything that happened to Ryan, king didn't deserve it. Love you both so much, and thank you for being mentors for my world views as a 17 year old
I’m not good with words so I’m just going to say this, this video is the most important thing ever that everyone needs to hear right now. The attacks are sickening and uncalled for and you two were able to express that perfectly and were able to find just the right words. I admire you two for this!
I’m really sorry about how people treated you bc of your break up. I believe that relationships are between only the two people in it, everyone makes mistakes and it doesn’t mean that they deserve to d!e and there’s always two sides of the story so we shouldn’t be on one side
I saw Josh and Olivia for the thumbnail and I’ll say I’ve never hated on either of them, or Sabrina. None of them did anything wrong. Josh and Liv broke up, yes he said he’d wait till she turned 18 but he lost feelings for her and caught feelings for someone else. He can’t control that. You don’t choose who you love. Liv has every right to write songs about him (if that’s even who she’s writing about) and her heartbreak. She’s upset and has every right to be. And Sabrina, IF her and Josh are together that’s fine. She’s allowed to be with whoever she has feelings for. None of them did anything wrong, like I said. Olivia is just heartbroken, she can speak all about that if she wants. Sabrina and Josh just ALLEGEDLY fell in love. None of them deserved the hate they received/receive. They received death threats and hate in general and all for nothing.
Where did you even get the idea that he’d wait for her to turn 18 to date her? She broke up with him. Hello?! Maybe you got Joshua mixed up with Olivia’s current 25 year old boyfriend. 😶
@@Natsu-ej9zq even tho she broke up with him she could still have been heartbroken. Also, if he couldn’t wait until she was 18 and lost feelings for and developed feelings for someone else, I’d be heartbroken and wouldn’t want to waste my time being with someone who doesn’t want me anymore. I don’t know how true the waiting until 18 thing is with Josh, it could be about her new bf, but I think she was already 18 for a while when they started dating, but I’m not 100% sure. Valid points tho. Also I don’t fine anything wrong with dating someone 7 years older than you. They are both legal humans who have been friends for much longer I believe! Let’s just let them all live there lives and support all of them because they are all talented🤷🏾♂️
@@jacobmccain8794 her age wasn’t the reason for her breaking up with him. That made up narrative by jolivia fans should’ve been thrown out the equation as soon as Crisis came out. Y’all made up that rumor which made Joshua look bad. Where is the credible source that said Joshua wait for Olivia? So gullible. Smh. 😑
@@Natsu-ej9zq you’re saying Yall I support the hate. I said this might be a thing, but I was not sure. I support both of them. Personally I think Josh is good, but my preference of music, I don’t go out of my way to listen to him. I don’t respect anyone that sends death threats and I definitely believe they both have a right to speak their truths.
@@Natsu-ej9zq literally EVERYONE was talking about how Joshua broke up with her because she was under 18 and how he said he promised to wait for her. Also… if THAT’S all you can say don’t bother speaking to me.
You addressed this in an excellent way. I agree 100% with everything you said. The worst thing about this drama is that everything happened because of a general thing that happens every single day to everyone, called break up; not a big deal. I know artists have the right to say whatever they want, but I also think they should be a little bit less obvious considering the people who listen to them. I’m so sorry for what happened to you Ryan and I’m glad you’re in a better place.
Being a big fan of Taylor, I do have to say that it is ridiculous that the fans go after her exes. And not going to lie, I avoided this channel for a long time because of Ryan. But after watching your videos, I have taken time to revaluate my attitude towards celebrities exes. We do not know these people and need to treat them like human beings.
The wording and the explanations of everything in this video is amazing. My respect for Ryan skyrocketed. I’m gonna be honest I wasn’t a fan of his after certain things I saw come out. But now that I’ve gotten his side of the story and stumbled on to this RUclips page my mind has completely changed. Thank you so much for speaking up on such important topics. It’s so sad because my fiancé still apologizes for expressing his emotions and it just makes me sad he never had someone in his life besides now, myself, that made him feel comfortable expressing who he is. Thank you so much for this video.
I also want to add to the amazing communication between this couple. Wow, just the respect between the both of you and the deep conversations y’all are having is very evident and just very far and few between. You can just tell you both feel so safe with each other. Relationships like this are hard to find and luckily I found it my fiancé but so many people don’t get to find this type of love.
I think one of the worst part is that he's so young Joshua was just 19 when dl released and he started getting them death threats, that's such a young age to go through Harrasment and getting death threats, being SA and being made fun of for it my heart just goes out to him, I think I almost cried when he said he was afraid to get out of his house cause he saw many tiktoks where ppl threatened to kill him or beat him up...no one especially not someone so young should go through that kind of circumstances 😢 💔
When Sam said “you can perpetuate rumors without realizing you’re doing it” I agree with that 100%, not even just with celebrity relationships, but the world in general! Joshua doesn’t deserve the hate, Ryan doesn’t either and I think people get so attached to celebrities that they think they have the right to comment on their relationships at all, but that’s not true. Whatever both people decide to share is one thing but pushing for more information, making assumptions and trying to cancel and or harm one party if the relationship ends is never the right way to go about things
And pull themselves out of the illusion that comes with anonymity. People say such horrible things because they know that people who know them won’t see it and because there aren’t any consequences for them personally. People need to realize what they say matters and can hurt people. In real life, in a real way. Their anonymous comment can really have terrible effects on that person. The world lacks empathy in a major way.
I’m SO devastatingly sorry that you experienced this (multiple times) Ryan, and were made to feel shame. That is complete and utter bull$hit. I think that your bravery in sharing makes you, and Joshua, EXTREME badasses 🙌 That takes more strength than anyone could possibly fathom. ANY 👏 HUMAN 👏 CAN 👏 BE 👏 SEXUALLY 👏 ASSAULTED 👏👏👏 The sooner society gets that through our collectively-thick skulls, the better. Keep being as open as your mental health allows. I truly believe that you are helping people. And Sam - you are the epitome of a supportive partner. You’re helping people learn how to be better partners. I give both of you an obnoxiously loud and long standing ovation (from my couch…and my dog is very confused…but it’s worth it 💕)
I always end up thinking what do we have to do with those ex couples, anyways, there’s no justification for intimidation, death threats or anything over rumours. This is probably part of this insane cancelation culture.
this is a beautiful message and i am so glad that you guys addressed this. i am shocked that people are being this immature. we need to get this video out there and spread this absolutely important message. thank you for being so sensible and being brave enough to speak out! (also for being so strong and showing how men can be vulnerable! we need to respect this)
You guys are so great for taking on a topic like this, the things that people say on the internet don't realize it has an effect on the real life people, just thank you
i just wanna thank YOU guys for talking about this and being so open and vulnerable yourselves. you perfectly verbalised most of the thoughts i’ve been having about the josh and olivia public discourse and made so many good points!! i genuinely love these kinds of videos in the mix w more upbeat ones because they’re always so important and relevant. so thank u guys and much love
That's what am saying. Am confused how they keep on going to one side of suition, when lirtally you didn't let the other person explained and hate on them for no reason at all bc of some music, tweet, post and etc. I lirtally feel sick when people do that. Lirtally that happened 2 mouth ago between Joshua and Olivia... And one was at a hospital. Not saying he was at the hospital.. JUST bc he was getting hate but I think that was part of the reason why he almost died. They really trying to make social media part of the reason why it's so toxic. Love this video and love how you speak on that topic! 🤍
Thank you for addressing this topic. I'm sorry you went through that Ryan but you've come so far to be able to talk about it. Whether that's detailed or not, it helps knowing there's people out there who can be voices for people who don't feel like they have a voice. You both go into so much depth and look at every angle and do your part to make the Internet and the world a better place for everyone. Toxic masculinity has to stop. No one deserves threats or anything even remotely similar. Thank you for using your platform to help others. Watching your videos always makes me smile, even when I don't feel like smiling and when you do these sort of videos, I'm proud to be a part of the community that you've created. You make the world a better place by helping people without even knowing it or it being acknowledged. Thank you. For everything you do.
I can’t believe this has to be said but thank you for standing firm on it. Also I never knew what happened to Ryan but I always wanted to hear his side cause it’s like he just disappeared off the face of the planet. Just goes to show we shouldn’t judge people’s relationships when we don’t know what goes on inside them.
I’m sorry you had to go through those traumatic experiences Ryan… thank you for always being a champion for others and even more so for doing it with a mindset grace or at least objectivity towards the oppressor. We need more people like you and Sam in the world whose goal is to bring peace and not more drama.
This is a very important topic and message. I don't know a lot about it, but if commenting has any chance of helping this video get to more people at all, I think that it's worth it. Thank you for being so open, and I hope things someday can get better with hard work, kindness, and amazing people like you. Stay safe and Happy Holidays!
What is the best thing about this video is scrolling through the comments and seeing the majority of them being fully supportive with what Sam and Ryan are saying. Makes me happy to be a part of this fandom.
You can dislike how a relationship turned out and keep it to yourself. Why on earth would you lash out at either party. Both parties are already hurting. They don't need your input. They don't need your threats. They don't need you invalidating their experiences
I'm glad you have found a partner who is emotionally intelligent and supportive Ryan. You truly seem happy and calm together. And plese never stop speaking your truth.❤
Hearing out loud what I've been thinking about the whole thing with Josh and hearing it from people that I admire and stan makes me feel so happy, you guys are just incredible for doing this ♥
and the worst part is that their relationships were not even public. so, i just can’t understand how people made such vicious comments about a relationship that they know nothing about.
This was so incredibly on point on every level. People always use "they have the right to write what they want" or "they don't owe so-and-so anything" as scapegoat arguments. 1) having the right to say what you want to say doesn't absolve anyone from the responsibility or the consequences that go with that. People "have the right" to own a gun in the US, but that doesn't give them unlimited rights to hurt others with it. They can make whatever art they want - that is their right - but they have a responsibility to the impact it has. HOLD YOUR FAVES ACCOUNTABLE. 2. No one owes their ex their forgiveness or their friendship or credit for their success. But what they DO owe them is HUMAN DECENCY.
I really love these types of videos, they made me think so much more about things and make me appreciate my life and how nothing too terrible has happened yet.
I love this video so much, it touched on all the topics I've been thinking about recently (even though I was not aware of this specific situation, I just see it in other examples). While I'm not a man, I've always found it incredibly weird that men get disregarded when trying to open up and discuss their troubles and that some women are trying to fight for 'equality' while attacking men for showing an ounce of emotion. This culture is incredibly toxic and if you've ever had to face that I am deeply sorry and I pray that you're okay. Thank you guys so much for discussing this, it's an important issue to be aware of and no one ever mentions it. I look forward to your future videos
i just rewatched this video after watching josh's zach sang interview (highly recommend it was very interesting to hear his perspective and opinions on many different things) but this video reminded me of something he said in that interview... he talked about how "when it comes to protecting people it's less about the art and more about the conversation around the art" and also touched on how we should look at "how responsible [artists] are for what conversations go on around [their] art". i think he makes a really good point that artists should be able to express themselves and their experiences through whatever art medium they prefer but also that 'popular' artists that have large fanbases have some accountability for the conversations - and subsequent actions - that occur within those fanbases surrounding their art. although they can't control everything that occurs i don't think the respect and admiration that popular artists hold within their fanbases, and the power and influence of that respect, should be underestimated. anyway,, just some random thoughts after watching this with the context of the zach sang interview in mind :)))))
You guys talked about toxic fan culture very well. And I agree with y’all like people should not hate on someone’s ex. And there’s always two sides of the story. My ex Tom should know this very well! I was very real with my emotions towards him being a crappy suitor. No one should be hurt by people’s words
This is literally what everyone should should watch, no matter what fandom they are or are not! Everyone has a right to speak up and being listened to without being judged, you have a problem with what happened? That’s a YOU problem, but don’t go on the internet spreading hate and fake rumors just to feel better because you can’t accept a fact !! i loved this video so much and i loved when Ryan got angry by the end of the video and said that you shouldn’t let someone to not feel allowed to have feelings or a way to heal things.
THANK YOU. I kinda thought people might grow up enough to not destroy celebrities’ mental health online but I guess they need it to be explained to them🤷♂️🤷♂️
I hope that Olivia at least would tell her fans to back off and to stop sending threats as well as invalidating what Josh went through and is going through. It’s just so heartbreaking that Olivia has the ability to speak up to her fans and stop them but hasn’t.
First, I am sorry to Ryan, to Josh and to anyone who were sexually assaulted. I cannot imagine what they must have gone. I am (lack of a better word) glad that they are survivors and making sure they live one day at a time. Rant: I can’t stand when people yell at others, including me when they say men cannot be feminist. Feminism is about equality between the two genders. Men can be that too. I also cannot stand the double standards when it comes to rape/sexual assault. Women fail to report because the blame always lands on them from what were they wearing to how much they drank, etc. men fail to report because of this nonsense of how “men can’t be raped”. They can. Anyone could be raped. No deserves to die, get death threats, or be sexually assaulted. You have every right to not like someone. However, you don’t have the right to tell someone they deserve to not live in this world or go through one of the worse things imaginable (sexual assault). I can’t imagine that, but what I can imagine is the lack of trust you would have in people. The fear that it will be tattooed on your forehead. The fear no one will believe you or think it is your fault. No one wants to go through, so to those (who may not even care) write these online: don’t because if you do not want this to happen to you, don’t wish it on other people.
I AM SO GLAD I WATCHED THIS, thank you for using your platform to express these kinds of needed to hear topics. Thank you for putting your heart on your sleeve for this one, you are blessed and appreciated. Love you guys
The other problem is that the people who thrive off of these fans' behaviour don't seem to like to tell them to stop. They almost encourage it. Can we please call them out more often? It's so bad. :( Taylor...Olivia..... Where is the humanity? And why are people supporting and encouraging their favourite celebrities to act like this as well?
I totally agree with you guys the fans were the problem in this case, they took things too far especially when the fans did not know their lives or relationships.
This is a channel that honestly strikes such a good middle ground for me in terms of fun/brainless activities and intelligent conversation. And it’s all because of the mature, smart and attractive hosts that are so kind as to share their stories and insights ❤️ comment not concerning the video, but just a thought
I was just thinking about this when listening to both artists even though they've broken up. It's super annoying how people say "pick a side" especially when it comes to music taste. Like, I'm not gonna stop listening to one person because both people have different sides. Also, it really sucks how people are sending literal de@th threats to him over something they heard on the internet and without hearing his side, plus that's just downright scary and I wouldn't want anyone to be sent those kind of messages.

exactly and Joshua said they haven’t talked since filming hsmtmts season 2 , so she didn’t even call him when he was in the hospital ?

even before josh put out his 3 most recent songs, he sent a mass text to his fans telling saying: "anyone who sends hate on my 'behalf' is no fan of mine" and "all that I ask is you treat everyone with respect and love"
as someone who unintentionally hopped on the Jake/ Taylor thing, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I never went as extreme as the threats or anything, but I think I got caught up in the hoard mentality.
Thank you for calling me out. And Thank you for urging me to do better going forward. 💕
Yes same
You sound like a unicorn. Are you real? Is this a human recognizing their fault instead of overshowing how their detachable argument is "a fact"?
It just has gotten a bad reputation.
exactly!!
Also people are treating celebrities as if they weren’t humans which is really sad
Ugh, liberals.
I agree. It takes a lot of strength to go out there and tell your story and to just het hate for it is ridiculous.
Why did he got that hate?
@@agardenwithfireblossoms a lot of it is because fans believe he cheated on her with Sabrina carpenter. There’s a lot of hints in her music video drivers license that make people assume it was her so both Josh and Sabrina started getting a lot of hate from fans of olivia
why did Ryan got hate?
Also the Driver's License skit on SNL just poured more fuel to the fire by mentioning Joshua's name :(
Sam and Ryan both really dropped the 🎤 in this video. I truly hope others take the time to sit and listen to this. I’m not sure if they’ll see this. But thank you for making a video on this important topic 💜.
What I don’t get is why Ryan gets hate but Thomas doesn’t get hate ? Everyone loved Thomas Doherty .
TW: SA
I have been trying to make a video like this since the EP came out, but could never find the right words.
When I saw that people were saying “men can’t be raped” Oo girl I went off on them in my head even though I’m a female.
It’s beyond me how someone could look another person in the eye and say their SA wasn’t actually SA.
As someone who is friend's with many male survivors, the discourse around what Josh's ep was so disheartening cause all I could think about what was if my friend's were the targets of such threats. My heart goes out to both you and Joshua and may you both continue heal 💛💛💛 thank you for speaking about this so much!
haven't watched the video yet but YES I AGREE
Joshua's songs broke my heart. People are so cruel. I also wish Oliva would say something, literally anything because it would make a difference
TW
as some one who as also been SA the way ryan talks about it is so freaking comforting so thank you!!
I applaud y’all for this video and honestly just keeping your composure during it. I’ve wanted to scream at everyone who’s been taking all of these things to the extremes. Even if your favorite celebrity’s exes are horrible, it does NOT MEAN and never mean you should send death threats or harass them
Ryan. I will always support you, along with all of us other daddies
yessssss
Great video of talking about it and using this platform to educate about theses topics as it’s happen to plenty of celebrities over the years.
this breaks my heart. thank you for addressing this🖤
Both of you are so incredibly well-spoken, and are able to perfectly adress the very real issues of today in such an intelligent, calm, yet strong manner. I wish more people had the same humane perspective as you, and I am so sorry for everything that happened to Ryan, king didn't deserve it. Love you both so much, and thank you for being mentors for my world views as a 17 year old
Also you did NOT deserve the hate you got. Proud to say I’ve never hated you :)
Amazing perspective. Internet hate has been sugarcoated to an extreme and has been labeled as a joke. It’s not a joke. Thank you for this
I don't comment very often. But this is such an important message that needs to be heard. So thank you for talking about it
I saw Josh and Olivia for the thumbnail and I’ll say I’ve never hated on either of them, or Sabrina.
I could literally care less about Joshua and Olivia, but that is not okay and should be stopped.
Spread love not hate (that’s all I can say to express my thoughts/feelings about this subject)
Some people really just have no filter on the internet how does anyone feel like it's ok to be that awful?
Aww I hope Sam gave him a big hug afterwards 🥺
I love the proud look in Sam eyes when she look Ryan
I wasn’t planning on watching this video, but so glad I did. Sharing rn: thank you for inspiring me to be part of this.
I can’t believe that the conversation had to be had but you guys were great at explaining it and I hope that Olivia puts an end to this.
Ryan ❤️🥺 our hearts go out to you. We appreciate your honesty.
Hearing out loud what I've been thinking about the whole thing with Josh and hearing it from people that I admire and stan makes me feel so happy, you guys are just incredible for doing this ♥
and the worst part is that their relationships were not even public. so, i just can’t understand how people made such vicious comments about a relationship that they know nothing about.
this was so eloquently and delicately put, but did not beat around the bush, and is such an important message. thanks for speaking out about it.
joshua basset literally deserves the world
This was so incredibly on point on every level.
I look forward to your future videos
so well spoken. thank your for being so vulnerable as to share your story with us as well Ryan ❤
Y’all are on TOP of this and address it SO WELL. THANK YOU.
I really genuinely respect the rawness and honesty of this video. I appreciate this use of a platform very much. 10/10.
I always wait for the hi dad or hi daddy
EDIT:
This topic is so important glad they talked about it
Same
i just rewatched this video after watching josh's zach sang interview (highly recommend it was very interesting to hear his perspective and opinions on many different things) but this video reminded me of something he said in that interview... he talked about how "when it comes to protecting people it's less about the art and more about the conversation around the art" and also touched on how we should look at "how responsible [artists] are for what conversations go on around [their] art". i think he makes a really good point that artists should be able to express themselves and their experiences through whatever art medium they prefer but also that 'popular' artists that have large fanbases have some accountability for the conversations - and subsequent actions - that occur within those fanbases surrounding their art. although they can't control everything that occurs i don't think the respect and admiration that popular artists hold within their fanbases, and the power and influence of that respect, should be underestimated. anyway,, just some random thoughts after watching this with the context of the zach sang interview in mind :)))))
That’s a YOU problem, but don’t go on the internet spreading hate and fake rumors just to feel better because you can’t accept a fact !!
i loved this video so much and i loved when Ryan got angry by the end of the video and said that you shouldn’t let someone to not feel allowed to have feelings or a way to heal things.
these are my favourite types of videos, also i always forget how articulate ryan is lmao.
This video is incredible. Thank you for speaking up.
Olivia is only fake nice lol girl is so full of herself
First, I am sorry to Ryan, to Josh and to anyone who were sexually assaulted. I cannot imagine what they must have gone. I am (lack of a better word) glad that they are survivors and making sure they live one day at a time.
Rant:
I can’t stand when people yell at others, including me when they say men cannot be feminist.
I’m glad Ryan was able to open about of his own experience with this ♥️
This is so important, I am so glad to hear people talking about it.
ryan deserves more love. hes such an amazing dude and people just starting hating him cause of a breakup none of us really knew anything about
Joshua was in the hospital with 30% chance of survival and they still kept at it 🥰
The other problem is that the people who thrive off of these fans' behaviour don't seem to like to tell them to stop.
I feel so dumb, I was like this Ryan guy looks so familiar.. and then it clicked but I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone though Ryan :(
This is a channel that honestly strikes such a good middle ground for me in terms of fun/brainless activities and intelligent conversation.
