    Ms Ronstadt as you are beginning to see was the Queen of Rock, selling out arenas (arenas not venues nor clubs) in the 70s and up to when she stopped performing. The documentary "Sound of My Voice" details her life not just her performing. I would highly recommend watching for any fan of hers.

    Linda Ronstadt has been my favorite singer for 50 years. This is an incredible song that still brings me to tears. Whats amazing about Linda’s voice is her ability to smoothly modulate the power of her voice. she blows through with intensity at those climatic places that sears into our souls and then goes right back to a a softer sound. she doesn’t need to keep belting, her ability to move within that range, and to go from soft to powerhouse for emotional reasons shows what an excellent singer she is.

    Yes, Linda doesn’t just sing - she lives within the song, and crafts every note to match the emotions in the lyrics. Welcome to the ranks of the first kind of man, per Willie Nelson: "There are two kinds of men in this world. Those with a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who never heard of her."

    • @pbohearn
      @pbohearn 2 месяца назад +2

      Very well put in what I was trying to express is that she lives within the song and becomes the character so it’s very real to her and to us what she is singing that’s why it’s just not a performance. Karen Carpenter and Barbra Streisand are incredible singers, but you don’t get that emotional impact like you do with Linda Ronstadt because you believe her.

    Linda was right there in the thick of it. She was on a roll in the early 70's, living with JD Souther(You're Only Lonely) and having Glen Frey and Don Henley in her back-up band(Desperado).
    Then Glen and Don and JD went on to write The Best Of My Love and a few other Eagles classics while the Eagles soared and Linda found her solo audience. Jackson Brown was part of the gang as he wrote with Glen, his then roommate, Take It Easy. Big ole jumbled up stew of Folk, Country Rock.

      Kind of sad that it weren’t for that tv show episode, many young people wouldn’t know who Linda ronstadt is. Younger people these days just aren’t exposed to this older music in the instagram and tik tok worlds they live in. They live in a bubble of the autotune singers that are popular today, and know nothing of the amazing voices that were around 50 or more years ago, like Linda

      I remember this song form its original release. Sadly, I admit I had forgotten about it until S1E3 of The Last of Us. But since then, I've rediscovered the song as well as the rest of Linda's catalogue. Similar situation with Glen Campbell. Naturally, I remember Wichita Lineman form its hayday, but when Glen passed, all his songs got "remembered", and I've seen so many great YT videos of his interviews and performances.

    This is my all time favorite song. You got it just right. It's the PERFECT execution of a great song. It just can't be done any better. I loved it when you reacted to those two violins in the chorus. To me they sound like they're crying. Then the harpsichord accents. And then the power in her voice at the end. Would be so awesome if periodically you did cover comparisons of songs Linda covered. Listen to the original artist’s version, then listen to the Linda version, side by side, and see which cover was better. Linda was famous for the fact that each cover she did became the definitive version and overshadowed the original artist’s own version. Her covers were that consistently great. Mick jagger of Rolling Stones said after she recorded the Stones’ song Tumblin Dice, it became her song. He admitted she sang it way better than him. Lol. And so many others like Heat Wave, Ooh baby baby, desperado, when will I be loved, poor pitiful me, its so easy, love me tender, just one look, that’ll be the day, you can close your eyes, many rivers to cross, everybody loves a winner,

    Ms. Ronstadt is one of the best female singers of this generation, in my top 3, seen her in concert twice

    Even the very end ( the instruments) is so beautiful. ❤ On another note I don't think you've done any Dave Matthews Band yet...check out " Crash into me" and " So much to say ". They have many great songs but these are my favorites. 🥰🥰

    Perfect voice and, like Sinatra and Garland, perfect phrasing. Thankfully, there is an enormous catalog up to and including her mariachi albumn.

    ❤What a voice....this is always been my fav along with 💙Blue Bayou. You need to check out Linda in the Super Trio she has with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Amazing🤯

    Linda's voice is pure velvet. She could sing anything. Another song that breaks my heart is Faithless Love. You can't go wrong with anything she does.

    This beautiful song was written by Gary White, bass player in Circus Maximus, a New York late-1960s band which included Jerry Jeff Walker. Linda Ronstadt caught Gary White’s performance of the song at a club and asked him if she could record it. I saw White perform it at Jerry Jeff Walker’s 44th birthday party in Austin. He said he didn’t know Linda Ronstadt until after he wrote the song, that he wrote it for Charlotte, who broke his heart.

    I grew up listening to the real talented people who had voices that just had a quality we don't find in the technical "enhanced" ones today. And real instruments made music that you can't get from computer generated sounds/noise. We haven't improved, be have lost so much. I'll soon be 79 chronologically, but my mind is 35 and I love the classics and listen to those and I love seeing the reaction of you young ones who are shocked to hear such talent.

    Let's see ... Country, check. Country Rock, check. Rock, check. Light Opera, check. Great American Songbook, check. Mexican, check. She mastered them all. One of her back-up bands turned into The Eagles! Her collaborations are epic. She ruled the 70's concert scene. Her voice is stilled now sadly.
